These are two nice sites that I use when looking for names:
- http://fantasynamegenerators.com/ This one even has a section for Dragon Age.
- http://www.meaning-o...nm=moon&stype=1 This one I use when I want a name that means something relating to the characters personality or looks.
lol i tried the first link in the dragon age section, guess what named rolled up first... Ford!
I'm going to name my Inquisitor Den'Shaa.
Anyone here who is a Babylon 5 fan will get the meaning.
Are you caring enough to share some of your planned Inquisitor names with me? I suck a naming characters, at the moment i'm thinking of naming my knight enchanter "Ford", I know right...
if your character is going to be a qunari, i suggest using a qunari name
here are some examples/ideas:
I personally use this medieval name database. It covers all my needs. Plenty of names from the medieval period and a good number from just after it..
Well if you have past characters in the series you can get a pattern from them, or even a contrast between them. For instance (both being female mages), my Warden was named Aurora and my Hawke was named Ruxandra. In Latin, Aurora means 'dawn' and Ruxandra (the equivalent of Roxana) is a Romanian name meaning 'dawn' as well. So, to continue the tradition, I plan to name my mage character Eos which is the spirit of dawn in Greek mythology. You can also use physical characteristics to name your character too. The reason I named my character Aurora and Ruxandra, was because of the color of the eyes and hair (amber eyes and copper hair) which I associate with a sunrise and how in myths dusk and dawn are associated with magic. I defined personality could help too. In some cultures, names are given based on a persons personality, or what their parents hope for them to be. A names meaning could be important too. Ford, in American English, means river crossing. In many cultures and myths, crossing a river could be seen as overcoming a nearly impossible obstacle, or transcending into a different life (by dying of course). You class can also help you decide as well. Some names even come from the seasons we are born in (such as a February baby could be called Valentia). You don't need to go into every aspect over course, but to me, putting a lot of thought into naming my character makes me feel more attached to them.
Speaking of names, has it already been confirmed what your companions and everyone else is going to call you? (in DA2, everyone called you 'Hawke') Or will you just be "you".
