I hope that for the next stream, they get some people who are actually good at it.

So after seeing the video (at least the parts I could squeeze in while also trying to keep up the appearance of working  ;)) I have to say that I am loving what the DAMP team has done.

I know that people who have gotten the chance to play the MP at various events mentioned how the game flowed, and that it was more tactical and teamwork focused than ME 3 MP, but I never was able to really grasp that concept until I saw the footage. The combat overall feels slower than ME 3's MP, but it also makes each battle feel more rewarding (at least from me being a passive observer). In ME 3, killing a small group of mooks was barely a speed bump, but in DAMP, even a group of three minion level peons presented a tangible challenge to the team, and (IMO) that is a good thing. The difficulty of the MP is more about tactical awareness than simply flooding the screen with enemies.

The biggest improvements that I heard (volume was kinda low on my end) was that supportive actions; such as reviving downed teammates, and casting barrier will earn you XP; an that being kicked or disconnected from a session will NOT see players loose all of their acquired XP, and gold. These two facts alone prove that BioWare's MP team is actively looking at player feedback and responding accordingly.

Gameplay-wise I really enjoyed seeing how the Keeper could spec herself to be either supportive or offensive (or a mixture of both), and we can now map our active skills! This is a huge relief because I was worried that players would be forced to use powers from both trees, I am now really looking forward to playing as the Elementalist and being able to go into battle as a pure fire, or pure ice mage if I want.

It's tough to do well when your characters are such low levels! They did well, all things considered. The woman who played the Dalish First at the end of the stream was the best player, I thought.

And speak of the devil, the stream just got archived here: http://www.twitch.tv...are/b/585930717

The video keeps freezing up for me  :(

Hopefully someone can upload the footage to youtube; I have least amount of problems viewing stuff there.

They started fresh characters...which is why we didn't see any of the other classes really b/c nothing was unlocked.  Although I knew it already I'm super bummed about random boxes still being a thing.

Only thing I can think of being a problem is that barrier, because there is no healing except for potions, is going to be such a big difference to the survival of a group that if you don't have it on your mage and you play with randoms people are going to be dicks about not having it.

Twitch video recap tech is crap that is why it freezes.

Not only that, but you're trying to talk about a lot of different aspects of MP at the same time. So you have to keep up a conversation and think about topics you might not have covered already while processing the information happening in the game itself.

Yeah, Amelia (?) seemed pretty good :) at least for the first 80-90 %. Towards the end I think she lost focus a bit, not using Fadestep and Barrier when it seemed very needed. The 2nd guy was pretty decent too, I think. And it was nice to see Derek there as well! I especially liked his quick compliments, like "Nice Barrier". He seems teamplay-minded.

That is one thing that concerns me as well, I would hate to see Keeper players getting assigned to 'Barrier Duty' whenever they join a match, regardless of whether they are specced for support or not.

Still, I think that once the player base gets more experienced with the MP, the less crucial Barrier will become; sure it will be nice to have, but I think it will be less of mandatory skill, and more of a welcome bonus.

At least the Legionnaire seems able to build up armour on his own (although I didn't catch the way he does this). But there's probably a few different ways of keeping a buffer on your health so a party isn't too dependent on having a Keeper with them.

Also, it's worth keeping in mind that a defensive skill like Barrier comes at the cost of an offensive one that could otherwise have whittled down enemies faster, indirectly "preventing" damage too.

Barrier is not as important as they said it is. They didn't even let my group use a keeper and we made it as far as they did with two keepers. I would say a tank with guard is much more important.

I wish they opened up more chests. I want to see how hard or long it will take to unlock other characters.

Only thing I didn't really like is that the final wave seems to be an endless stream of enemies until you kill the boss, and unlike in ME3 it's probably harder to focus down one enemy, especially if they have resistances or immunities.

Their team composition probably wasn't optimal either. Two Barriers is nice but the Keepers very probably don't do as much damage as archers, and DPS is what they needed here.

On the other hand, I can't wait to try out Fade Step. That looks like a joy to use.

Wow, looks rather impressive. It's going to be a lot of fun to grab a group of friends and dungeon dive, almost like a D&D dungeon crawl (versus a full on story based game). Will be interesting to see how playing with randoms works out... Although since everyone's profit hinges on the group's success, hopefully peeps wills play nice.

I re-watched the youtube version of the DAMP demo, and it appears that Korbin; the Dwarf Legionnaire; is able to get the 'armor boost' by timing his blocks correctly with his shield. Doing this seems to not only provide the player with bonus health, but the devs mentioned that it was also a way for Korbin to generate bonus XP; similar to the Keeper using barrier, or players reviving downed teammates.

I am really loving that feature (and the ability to spec and assign our powers however we feel like it) the most out of that showcase. Its awesome for the game to reward players for playing their roles effectively; thereby reinforcing the teamwork focus of DAMP, as well as eliminating the notion that enemy kills are the only way to top the leaderboard.

I'm watching part 2 right now, and I have to say.. I think this whole " ideally have 1 of each class" thing isn't gonna be all that necessary especially at later levels... Oh but you wont have someone to unlock a class door.. a class door that has some gold in it, woopdido!

But besides that and the low volume on the streamers voice I'm liking what I see. Granted this is the last DA:I video i'm gonna be sicking my eyes into until launch

I had a few interruptions while I was watching it. Did someone catch if the quick match will try to match people's classes?

I'm actually wondering if the quickmatch would match the players before they pick their classes. In this way you could see what the others players chose and try to make your own choice accordingly.

This is pretty much my own concern. I loved the flow of the game. It looks like it's gonna be very dynamic, as opposed to just spamming heals while watching the UI or reacting to gimmicky AoEs. I saw how a large group of enemies tends to make the party gradually fall back. It's not a bland kind of kiting (I kinda hate kiting)... but a spontaneous group tactical retreat thing, as the Tank try to engage new enemies who come near and the range characters walk away little by little, to try to keep some distance between them and the enemies.

This stuff is really going beyond my dreams. I think it's gonna be the best RPG experience ever, even bettr than Lightning Returns. And mean this specially for the MP, because it doesn't require pausing.

__________

I was a tiny bit concerned about how kiting seemed a little too easy in some parts. Like... sometimes the enemy used a slow swing and you could simply walk away from it. That isn't a very exciting kind of damage mitigation, imo. But there was certainly enough challenge when there were enough enemies.

And... btw... I think that woman died on purporse at the end, to show the Fade Mode.

The animations are looking pretty good! But the silhouette of the Keeper is a little boring.

You get grouped into a lobby and then select your class, buy chests, equip weapons, etc.

ME3MP did the same thing.

If it's like SP the speed of an enemy's swings varies according to the difficulty level.

I didn't see the whole stream, but this system looks like a leechers paradise with all the gold and xp is shared among the group regardless of contribution.

Seems like it would be very tempting for people to go afk right at the start of a match and then return later to collect their xp and gold from whatever the rest of the group managed to accomplish that round.

Is it known if there will be safeguards in place to help prevent this in any way?

One of the devs said that if you're kicked out of the group you'll only get the loot/XP collected up to the point you were kicked out. Since they used the word "kicked" rather than "dropped" (due to poor internet connection) I assume they were referring to a means to expel leeches/trolls/AFKs. I know the ME3 MP had a kick function, but I've forgotten exactly how it worked.

Damn it, now I'm even more impatient!

Anyway, it looks fun.  And hard!  Though I would like to see how a team of level 20s fares in comparison.  I also find it interesting how the DPS character scored lowest every time.  Not sure if that was just a case of it not having a high enough level to compete with barrier/defense yet, or if being raw DPS actually makes you score lower than tanks/support.  I very much approve of support giving points, should help deal with people ignoring teamwork in favor of a high score.

The ME3 kick was only available in the lobby.  It requires all three other teammates to boot you (I think if there are only three players in the lobby, 2 can kick)

I think eventually it made it in game where if you were not moving for a certain amount of time it would throw you out. (Not sure memory is bad)
On another note I like the fact that you can prestige a character and that would make them show up at camps in single player. Pretty cool idea.

Was hoping to see one other class besides the Keeper but man, this game looks like so much fun! Also at the end....they definitely "threw" the last wave after several minutes. Amelia was deliberately trying to die to show Fade mode and to avoid giving away complete strategies to defeat the boss.

Also as an aside, has there been much info released about the Templar? Gameplay, lore, anything?

You know, I had the impression that the Legionnaire built up his armour by himself - I think it was something Scylla said about the Dwarf 'doing well' or something. But I wasn't sure at all. That moment actually made me feel like playing the Legionnaire - being rewarded with armour for playing well seems like something I would really enjoy! Thanks for the confirmation :P
