It's always male PCs that get to have kids, even off-screen.
I wish female PCs had the option for once, even if it's just implied in an epilogue. That would be based on a conversation choice with your LI in the game, of course.
Having a child from a romance.

Perhaps the Inquisitor will? Unless they die at the end, they should be able to have children. The warden didn't have any because of being a Grey Warden, babies are hard to produce. Hawke I can't imagine having any anything soon, doesn't seem the settling type and they were on the run after the end.

To be fair. You don't sleep with anyone till year 2. Well that we know of. For all we know Hawke was a ****** spreading it all around.
What about Aveline or Isabele????
I cannot see Isabella having kids. Ever. That just wouldn't end well.

With all the whoring around she does, I think it's unlikely she doesn't have children running around somewhere.

Yeah I don't know. I don't want to tun around being pregnant. And when they do add pregnancy it's never the female PC that can be pregnant. So I don't want to be pregnant because it would be too annoying (from a game perspective), and I find it annoying that it's never the female protagonist. They just can't please me :3
Seriously, I would not say no to it, just having the ability would be nice. I would play it and see how it goes but afterwards I would reload and not do it again.

I would like a role playing game made by BioWare that spans on two or three generations with your companions having their own kids and you lead those other generations to achieve your goals. Would be interesting. If you don't play a straight protagonist, you could simply assume you and your love interest adopted a child which inherited your traits in the following generation or create a brand new character from scratch that takes on the title of leader.

because whoever you knocked up would be useless as fighter 6 months into the pregnancy.
and if you're playing as a woman what? you call the elder one and ask him to delay the end of the world while you go maternity leave?

I consider my Hawke to have at least a few children out there. He was pretty much the male Isabela, so any time before and after his romance with Anders would be fair game for babymaking.

Didn't her own mother trade her for a goat, or something?
If I had that kind of history, I would do everything in my power to avoid creating children (and I'm certain that Thedas has solutions for this - if not herbs, then I'm sure there are magical solutions, if you have enough coin). I'd be terrified that I'd be the same horrible parent.

You'd think there would have to be or a lot of the women in the game would have a kid. Leliana apparently has quite the history, as does Isabella. And you'd think nearly 40 year old Cass would've had a few relationships under her belt. With the exception of a few certain characters, everyone is pretty blasé with sex outside of marriage, but it's not like every female character has kids. So you'd think there would be some great contraceptives.
But, to contradict that, how on earth did Morrigan allow herself to become pregnant with non OGB? Baffling, really.

A child, especially a young one, is a big commitment. I suppose it would be feasible as a potential ending (like with Morrigan), but during the game it would be terribly impractical. Unless you wanted to be a deadbeat parent and just dump them somewhere while you adventure across Thedas. A storyline like Hawke's could work, if you're staying in the same place for a long time. Even so, time consuming.
It's not something I'd want, personally.

Dumping their kids is, in fact, what a lot of medieval parents did. It would offend our modern sensibilities of course, but medieval knights and nobles didn't spend a lot of time at home....
Then again, Bioware's medieval type setting seems purely cosmetic at times. They certainly seem to have more modern attitudes toward sexuality, gender equality, and the like, so ymmv.

Let's not forget Oghren. He dumped his family because he couldn't change himself. You can get him to visit them from time to time but his little "nugget" will grow up fatherless.

The best they could do is IMPLY that your character has a child with his/her partner, unless, the child plays an important role in the story, then they'd have to show him/her (like the OGB).

I could see some romances ending with children if Bioware goes for it, like Solas, Cullen and Josephine. Not sure if Cassandra and Iron Bull would be the family type. While Blackwall is very unlikely. I for one have no problem with it. My Warden is an father. Having children is just part of the relationship.

Yeah, as others have pointed out, this actually happens in some Bioware games:
* Bhalspawn and Aerie in BG 2 (the baby is even an inventory item!)
* The Warden and Morrigan in DA: O (either the OGB or a non-god baby)
* The dwarf noble Warden and Mardi in DA: O
* Several of the SWTOR romances, from what I hear, although I don't have details on which ones
I know in SWTOR one of the Female Sith storylines Quinn talks about wanting to have a child with you but (afaik) there isn't any pregnancy. I don't know about the others.

That makes no sense to me either. If she's using contraceptives until she makes her offer, how does she get pregnant after you reject her? Or if she's pregnant with a regular kid before she makes her offer, does she abort it right before the ritual?

Is there anyone on these boards whose actually interested in, y'know, being the protaganist of an Epic fantasy narrative?
The things people talk about on these boards make it sound like people just want "The Sims: Now with Dragons" edition.

Dragon Age games are not supposed to be life simulators. Romance is part and parcel with a heroic narrative. Settling down and popping out kids in a domestic setting is kinda the opposite of that.
I just find it curious that games about killing monsters and saving the world seem to attract people that never show any interest in killing monsters and saving the world. There's totally games about settling down and popping out kids in a domestic setting out there, last I checked.

Again, not mutually exclusive in the scope of a story. Why can't people enjoy both killing monster and saving the world AND popping out kids in a domestic setting? Isn't settling down "happily ever after", which in many cases means marriage and kids, tied directly to high fantasy? Isn't it present in many of the great high fantasy classics?
Again, I'm not interested in myself, but why do you have to suggest that people aren't playing their high fantasy correctly if they are interested in that? Play your game your way and let them play their game their way.

Yeah, you forgot OGB and Dwarf Origin. I am good with where Bioware is at with their romances. I didn't like it when Fable or Skyrim tried this idea. This should be left to player head canon.
But you're not forced to adopt in Skyrim, you can choose not to even talk to the kids
and the option is there for people who want it. ![]()
