Occam's Razor: maybe the team who edited the trailer just weren't that clued up about the romance options.

So its me being silly my fellow gamers? I don't think so. If you truly do not want mixed messages received then you do not send out mixed signals. Sera was chosen for that moment. If it wasn't to be implied that a male character could romance her then why was she shown at all? Why was Josephine not shown in both scenes? Or Cass or Dorian or The Iron Bull,. Sera was shown in that moment. The male Inquisitor was shown in that moment. How is that open to ANY interpretation other than that Sera can be romanced by a male character? I would like an answer from the Devs. I think it is a big enough deal for that. Even if no one else does. I know that they do not reply here, is that the policy? Not sure. I have asked on Facebook and Twitter. On Twitter I was sent to the romance reveal post here. Which is not answering my question at all of course but I was not surprised. So I will wait for an answer from the Devs. Until then I will keep pondering and inquiring. I believe, and you may not but to each their own, that I as a faithful buyer of all the Dragon Age and Mass Effect games deserve an answer to this question. If they tell me no you don't dude or even give me an answer I don't like then I shall let it rest. Should they respond with silence, for deeming my question unworthy or for any other reason, then I will as well. Silence speaks volumes sometimes. So I wait and wonder...
Ya your making way to big of a deal about this. Your right, Sera was chosen for that moment. As numerous people have already stated (but I guess your ignoring them) Sera is not able to be romanced by a male so it shows a male inquisitor not romancing her in anyway and shows a male inquisitor romancing Jossie because she is able to be romanced with a male.

I didn't see the trailer so I can't judge. I don't want to say it's nothing because we all know how Bioware likes to advertise things hat aren't exactly true in their trailers to appeal to their main buyers. Lightening Isabella up for the DA2 trailer and making it seem like she is a main romance comes to mind. So this trailer could be nothing or it could be a case of pairing the ManInquisitor with the whitest woman in their LI arsenal for the sake of appealing to their main buyers.

I think that this is a bit of a stretch. I think that it was simply meant to demonstrate that some LI's you can't romance as male (Sera - hence a shot of her not being romanced exactly as they say gender affects this) and some can be romanced as that same gender (Josie - hence a shot of her and the Quizzie smooching). That's really the extent of it, I think.

Eh, I think it's obvious to us that Sera was intended as a "this is the consequence of your gender--you can't have her" because...we already knew that, but it would probably be much more ambigious to people who don't know that, and I think it's fair to be cynical and wonder if they edited that scene and were perfectly comfortable with the ambiguity of the cute blonde girl maybe being interested in the dude.
I think it's probably just the awkward editing though.

Or perhaps the scene was leading up to the starking conclusion where Sera would kindly, calmly, maturely, with no intentional quips or mockery, at all, turn the bloke down... right?
Come to think of it -- It's almost as if this has been done before? Hmm..

"what? no... Wait! How? that doesn't... Mah Inquisitor is so cool no one could possibly turn mah Inquisitor down."
Don't you just love when people's video game realities come crashing down? Makes you wonder how they handle not being able to buy something from the breakfast menu at 11:00 from a fast food joint.

Maybe that Inquisitor is gay. What if they're both trying to let the other down. WHAT IF!?

It shows Sera walking away from the Male Inquisitor. For all we know that scene is the scene she turns Male Inquisitor down.

Because the trailer was, sadly, heavily dude focused. If only they could add the female in some scenes so it would have both...
Yeah pretty much this. Grow some ovaries and show a female PC, BioWare. Geez.
