I think it would be probably a great idea to have the option of exporting World States even to the old games, namely DA2 and Awakening so that we could have the option to start from there if we like.
I know at the moment this feature is not important, because the keep is focused on DA:I and future installments, but it would be nice to add it in the future if possible.
I think It maybe would fix some save import bugs from the past too, if it would be possible to implement this feature of course.
Would you like too see this feature too? Would you use it if it would be available? Tell me your opinion.

I don't think the Keep will have backwards compatibility, but for that, we have this:

Gibbed savegame generator, being Dragon Age Keep before it was cool

I really don't think that's gonna happen. Everything that needs to be tracked for DAA and DA2 is already tracked by the save-game import, and I don't think patching games that came out a few years ago is on their radar.

Well yes, for PC Players this mod is a good way to import saves without bugs, but for the console players this isn't possible.
Because of that it would be great to have it in the keep.
And if it would be possible I don't see why bioware shouldn't implement it.

Well, just a suggestion.
Because I think many of us playing all those games many times and play them even if they are quite old by now.
What I wanted to know is if anyone would like to see this feature besides me, whether or not bioware will implement it.

It's not the keep that needs to do. It's the games to accept this import and then they would have to build it into the keep.
It would probably take as much work as fixing said games with their import problems.

Yes, I'm aware of that.
But I'm not sure how much work it would be to patch the old games for this feature to work.
And I thought I could mention it, because I would like to see It in the keep.

It would be an immense amount of work, if it's even possible which I'm not sure it is, for extremely little public utility.

It would likely require such a rewrite of the base code of the games that Bioware could not release such an update for free. Plus, given the age of the previous games, it's entirely possible that a good chunk of the people who wrote the code for Awakening and Dragon Age 2 and would be able to implement this (if it is even possible) don't even work for Bioware anymore

I'm unsure if information can even be exported into the old games. I don't think a simple patch can cover something that should have already been written into the base code. If this were possible bioware would have mentioned something about it.

The question is: Where exactly was the problem with the old save game import? Was it because of a bug in the game itself or was it because of the way it was imported?
Because I thought the keep also was developed because of this, to fix that problem from now on.
If I remind correctly, the idea for the keep goes back to the time before dragon age 2 came out.
And yes, I know that this whole thing would just be an convenient and "nice to have" feature.
But I thought I suggest it either way.

The problem was more systemic than that. It is not that we had some particular anomalous flaw in the import system of note, but rather than at a systemic level the basic methodology of the import system was unfeasible for an ever increasing complexity of task, which in turn led to various seemingly isolated problems.

There were different sources for different problems. Nathaniel was caused by Awakening's in game flags not matching the epilogues we got. Romance bugs were because data (affection values) that DA2 used to make sure the Romance was still active was discarded when you played any DLC making DA2 always think DLC saves had no romances. The question is: Where exactly was the problem with the old save game import? Was it because of a bug in the game itself or was it because of the way it was imported?

Yeah, well, honestly I didn't really thought It would be possible to add it, but I gave it a try.
And I'm not that into the whole save game import bug thing to really understand what the problem was and if it could be fixed with a import through the keep.
So then, I thank you all for your replies and opinions on the matter. ![]()
