So fans of Dragon Age,

Dragon Age Inquisition is soon to be among us and there are some who have play the game or some of the game(Lucky Bastards ;) ). The rest have only relied on live streams and video coverage. But what do you think, do you think this will be Game of the Year? I have been waiting for a long time for this game. There have been filler games that I have been playing but nothing that has held my attention than this one.

I have a strong feeling that Dragon Age Inquisition will be a strong contender for Game of the Year, not really sure what other game would match up to Dragon Age Inquisition unless Call of Duty Advance Warframe.

I know I will vote for Dragon Age Inquistion for Game of the Year! Will you :)

I think the competition is tougher than you think, but DAI will get my vote.

Hmmm. What are the other big contenders?

Shadow of Mordor?

Alien Isolation?

South Park: Stick of Truth?

Dark Souls 2?

Watchdogs was a famous let-down. And I don't think Destiny made quite the splash it intended to.

So if DA:I is as good as we're all hoping it is, I think it stands a good chance.

I have to agree with the Dark Souls 2 game. But not to sure for the others on your list.

I'll wait to play the game to pass judgement.

That said the only other game from 2014 I've played is W:TNO, so it doesn't have too much competition for my personal GOTY.

I don't think its ganna win goty, I don't know how but bayonetta 2 got perfect scores on almost every website, people are considering that to be better then oot and ff7 which I have no idea why...

I don't think it will be...RPGs are still viewed as niche enough it probably won't. Dark Souls may be an exception with the macho cred it got for being so grindingly difficult.

Maybe next time put a question mark at the end of your thread title.

W:TNO... OOT... FF7... WTF???

Also, I'm not sure how you can nominate a game for GOTY, when it comes out late in the year. The earlier games of the calendar year have already been judged and have shown their value (or lack thereof). You can't very well call it a fair assessment when "TNKotB" suddenly shows up with all the (apparent) goodies. It would be a more fair judgment (imo) to judge DA:I amongst the games of 2015. In this case, I think it might face heavy competition from W3:TWH... Amongst others. :D *\o/*

Game of the Year where ? Practically every gaming website gives out its own GOTY award, I'd be surprised if at least one of them didn't give it out to DAI. DAO got 21 GOTY awards in 2009 for example.

You don't need to be a smartass and rude. My title is just fine, it is obvious that no awards have been handed out yet since the game isn't out yet. You need to relax.

I think it's a bit early to make any call like this, being that we haven't played the game. There are a lot of games that came out in 2014, and November is a big month for releases -- I think there will be plenty of competition, so we'll have to wait and see.

Its definitely my most anticipated game of the year, though I will have to see after its played.   I am hoping that the apparent move to make it an action game rather than a RTwP strategy game is just an imagined fear of mine.

Considering the less-than-impressive critical reception Destiny received, I no longer think it's even part of the contest.

If DA:I has any real contenders, the first would be Shadow of Mordor at this point.

Impressions from reviewers thus far have been very positive, with one saying it's already a lock for his GOTY. That being said we don't know how good reviewers as a whole think it is and they will probably be playing right up to embargo.

Right now the two leading contenders are Dark Souls 2 and Bayonetta 2. Like or hate Metacritic, it does do a pretty good job predicting the landscape of the GOTY awards, and those two are the only big names sitting at 90+. I don't expect Dark Souls 2 to dominate because although it reviewed well, it doesn't do anything really different than Dark Souls, and reviewers tend to like fresh narratives for GOTY.

Both Bayonetta 2 and DA: I have narratives reviewers can work with. The former was only possible because Nintendo funded it, and it represents something of a revival for Nintendo and the Wii U. DA: I will be seen as a return to unmitigated glory for BioWare (despite ME3 sitting pretty at 93 Metacritic and DA2 at  a respectable 82, reviewers tend to be cowardly when their initial opinion conflicts with the prevailing hardcore demographic narrative). Bayonetta 2 will have a better showing amongst critics whereas I expect DA: I to win more fan awards, mainly due to one being on the Wii U and the other virtually everything except the Wii U.

I have to agree with you on the Destiny. I have it and the story was a real let down. There is like no story present at all. They have these grimoir cards that you can view on Bungie.net to gain some insight to story but it is really dull after doing bounties over and over again. I put a break on it. Will be playing Dragon Age Inquisition.

I totally forgot about Bayonetta.

Yup, that's a real one.

A little to early for DA: I to claim the crown but I do believe it has a fighting chance.
