Impressions from reviewers thus far have been very positive, with one saying it's already a lock for his GOTY. That being said we don't know how good reviewers as a whole think it is and they will probably be playing right up to embargo.
Right now the two leading contenders are Dark Souls 2 and Bayonetta 2. Like or hate Metacritic, it does do a pretty good job predicting the landscape of the GOTY awards, and those two are the only big names sitting at 90+. I don't expect Dark Souls 2 to dominate because although it reviewed well, it doesn't do anything really different than Dark Souls, and reviewers tend to like fresh narratives for GOTY.
Both Bayonetta 2 and DA: I have narratives reviewers can work with. The former was only possible because Nintendo funded it, and it represents something of a revival for Nintendo and the Wii U. DA: I will be seen as a return to unmitigated glory for BioWare (despite ME3 sitting pretty at 93 Metacritic and DA2 at a respectable 82, reviewers tend to be cowardly when their initial opinion conflicts with the prevailing hardcore demographic narrative). Bayonetta 2 will have a better showing amongst critics whereas I expect DA: I to win more fan awards, mainly due to one being on the Wii U and the other virtually everything except the Wii U.
Well I hope that reviewers don't just play 6 hours and do a review. I think they need to play the game to the finish and that will take time. Plus there is over a hundred hours of gameplay. Plus you got the MP portion that will provide longevity to the game.
Bayonetta 2 will most likely get Best Nintendo action game of the year award. Bayonetta just doesn't have the scope that Dragon Age Inquisition will offer. Exploration, character development, multiple characters. Level designs etc
