Spoiler

That why I stand by my hypothesis that the Elder One is a being that was originally locked in the Black City and "Shadowy figure" is only a servent.

The Elder One is something else all together.

First of all The Elder One doesn't sound anything like Cory. The voice is much deeper compared to Cory.

Its probably something which is trapped in the Back City. Maybe Dumat or the source of the taint who knows.

Also, the Elder One sounds quite similar to the profane Hawke encounters in the Deep Roads.

If you see the angry joe video, the fade blast area is covered in red lyrium and we meet the profane where red lyrium was present.

My theory is that The Elder One has something to do with the taint which corrupted the lyrium turning it to red.

Thanks to people who've been saying it, but I'll say it once more.

I'm not sure why people have been saying that Cory and the Elder One sound the same. They really don't. The Elder One's voice is far deeper and inhumanly distorted.

This.

Remember that DAI has been in the planning since DAO, DA2 has been said to have been born out of the need for a bridge story. It makes sense at things like red lyrium and the profane (neither of which were expanded upon or really explained) were setup for this antagonist. I suppose the profane usher the very end of what could happen to the red Templars if they continue on their path.

Isn't that guy the same VO as Cory, though?

Spoiler

I got the impression that the spirit only arrived later, attracted by the profane's hunger, a leech.

Based on the artbook and the achievements that were out a while back, it's pretty safe to assume that Corypheus is the big bad.

And no I won't use spoiler tags in a spoiler thread. It's a spoiler thread. You don't wanna read spoilers, stay out of the thread.

I kind of was thinking once I read through this thread's spoilers, that maybe what we're going to see/experience is the truth behind the Black City.

Corypheus himself murmurs in his confused waking haze that he (amongst others) was tricked and that the Golden City they expected to find, was ALREADY BLACK.  I think we're going to learn more about the divide between the 'truth' that the Chantry teaches, and the secrets you began to unlock as Hawke when delving into the blood magic lore, spirit lore, and codices in DA2.

I think that some of the supposition here, that we will see the hand pulling the strings behind the significant events of Thedas, might be a far more terrifying version of "The Maker" than the nice stories suggest, or that something was already imprisoned within the Black CIty and there is an older tale behind what the races of Thedas know about.

But I swear I'll flip out if I see this guy standing there, telling me the story...

So according to you, Cory suddenly started talking with a deeper voice  and suddenly sees himself as a god?

In all fairness, the former isn't exactly hard considering he can body-hop and his voice would change accordingly. The god-complex might be something he just developed over time. He seemed ridiculously arrogant as it was.

Arrogant yes, because he comes from a time where Tevinter magisters where the ones who called the shots. But he always served Dumat, even when he awoke in Legacy he was still calling out to him. So I don't see why he would suddenly see himself as a god.

And when would he have planned everything, when he didn't even know the stte of the world when he awoke?

They might simply have recast Cory's voice actor?

If this guy did the narrative it would be the best game ever made.

Your asking these questions when the game isnt even out.

All you need to know is that corypheus IS the big bad of this game and he has had 3-5 years to plan everything.

Could someone send me the link to that spoiler that he actually is the main antagonist, or is it not allowed? I want to see it myself.

Edit: just to make it clear, I wouldn't mind that much if he is the big bad but it just seems so improbable to me.

That Angry Joe guy is an idiot. Bioware specifically said not to leak the prologue.

He skipped everything humanly possible. I saw the video and got nothing spoiled that I didnt already know. So some people might have a smaller threshold for spoilers dunno :P

I thought his video was the best game-play video that came out of that bunch that were released. I was really tired of seeing the same old thing, over and over again. Getting a glimpse of the prologue was awesome. And he didn't ruin it for me at all, because he skipped the cut scenes.
