Hi folks,

I'm wondering if there's any solid info on class skill trees/skills for multiplayer yet.

Thanks!

They went down the Keepers skill tree in the Twitch live stream today.

Yup. I gotta re-watch that to check it out. The Keeper will prolly be my second pick. And my first will prolly be the Legionaire. I'm a lucky guy, I guess. I really like the that the 3 initial characters are those 3... and that they are 3, not 4.

Nothing specific but it looks like the MP characters will have mixed trees based on a bunch of different skills from different SP trees.  The keeper had Spirit, Ice, Fire and Lightning spells (focus on barriers and lightning though).  Someone mentioned in an other thread that they even saw the templar flaming sword icon on one of the abilities

The characters have access to two skill trees.

The keeper has Protection, which includes fade step, barrier aetc

The other skill tree is called Primal Spirit and has chain lightning, energy barrage, veilstrike (rift mage ability it seems) and i think fade cloak (from the knight enchanter tree in SP) was in this skill tree.

That was a passive ability.  I'd have to re-watch the twitch to be certain because they never really showed it, but just moved the cursor past, so it only showed for half a second, but I believe it was a magic resistance passive.

Err, I just found that part of the video, and I was completely wrong.  It's "Disturbance of Spirit": 5% chance for your attacks to weaken the enemy for 6 seconds.  Plus you gain 3 willpower.

I don't get it. So, the MP characters are different from your single player character? How's this work? I was hoping I would carry over the single player character into MP with friends. I'm confused.

It's just like Mass Effect 3 multiplayer.

The MP characters are agents of the Inquisition running missions. As far as I know, you never see them in single-player

They definitely aren't the single-player characters moved over to MP, though. They're new, different characters.

MP for Bioware still has to make sense in the world they make for SP so they can't just have a whole bunch of The Inquisitors grouping together. So they make individual characters where the missions they do "help" the main character in SP. The difference is now do it doesn't really help anymore like in ME COOP

They have said repeatedly that SP doesn't effect MP, and vice versa.

Oh well. Doesn't sound as fun to me. So I spend hours getting good stuff in SP then roll a level 1 MP char. Wasn't what I was hoping for.

You will however get to see your MP characters in or around Skyhold wearing all the stuff you have them in in MP....but thats it.

bah. if that's the case, i prolly won't bother with MP. I don't want to use some cookie cutter character. It's like Skyrim for SP and gauntlet for MP. At least that's what it sounds like to me.

The MP is just that, you play it with your friends, a separate entity from the main game.  Just cause you have to work on that character that is separate from SP shouldn't put you off the MP...I mean...if you are playing with friends..then what's the big deal?

In my mind, if the 2 aren't connected, then one is a waste of time - in this case MP is the waste since accomplishments don't carry over.

spent 50 hours leveling my guy - he looks awesome - group up with my friend - here's my generic guy? that doesn't work for me.

Problem is that people will complain if the two are linked in some way.

Especially if it affects how strong your characters are in-game.

Multiplayer can make even bad games fun

You'll be missing out

I really want a Templar to facetank Demons, but after watching the Stream Keeper looks interesting too.  Why does she look like a guy though

See theres the difference though, it's really hard to make a multiplayer-RPG (like Destiny's caliber) with an engrossing story. Having just 1 important person makes it more personal and so much better IMO. To preserve the integrity of this approach, BW always keeps the Single Player aspect just that, Single Player. It's what fans have come to expect from BW and their games and anything else would pretty much be a big middle finger to them. You honestly shouldn't be going into a Bioware game with multiplayer first in mind unless you've had your face in ME COOP yet. BW's main draw will always be single player worlds and the stories there-in until they make an MMO (see SWTOR).

Yeah, i was cringing pretty hard at her hair myself, especially since the card art for her is long hair. (Though, since they don't have long hair in the game itself, i guess i shouldn't have suspected that. XD) Loved her outfit however.

Not gonna lie - all this talk of Destiny is making me chuckle.

It's just a grindy game. Pretty much do the same thing over and over. Throw your grenade, use your melee, and shoot. You do have your special for tricky situations but..to say it's incredibly fun...well..whatever, dif'rent strokes for dif'rent folks I guess.

Personally, I think it's vapid, but it's the only PS4 game I have right now. Can't wait for DA:I so I'll never have to play Destiny again.

in any case, i would like to see more class tree info but there's only a couple videos on youtube. i'd like to get an idea of what to make before i make it and waste hours playing something i dont like.

also, i see no reason why i can't create a character, pick my talent trees, appearance, armor, weapons, etc... then play multiplayer with him. all they need to do is flatten out the stats/dmg/whatever

How would this be balanced? It makes perfect sense that the two modes are separate. Just pick the closest character to what you like among the available ones in multiplayer, there are many to choose from.
