How so?
Because people are allow to have their own preferences….
Not only is she much more attractive than the two straight male love interests, but the classy, confident political figure type is just great.
Attraction is subjective... so, yeah. Also, Josie's main job is to be a confident political figure, so, also yeah.
agreed. Shoot, how could anyone not like her? You see those lips. Um um ummm! Looks like she got that crazy headgame that'll also curl The Maker's toes. Not everyone can handle the glory that is Madame de Fer. Their loss, imo.....
I've no idea who she is. Looking forward to meeting her ingame though.
I love her design. Not too big on her personality. I will be giving her a chance, though. She could easily turn into a cool character for me.
That sure is true, buddy.
I just wish he stated that this was just his opinion instead making it out like an undeniable objective fact.
Are we really at that level, really? Do we have to start talking like friggin' Elcor because Poster X just has to reply "Yeah, well you don't speak for me, buddy!" any time someone posts something that isn't written like "In my own personal opinion I think that (blank) is (blank) but this does not apply to anyone else, just myself"?
(Agressive Rebuke) I think you are over-sensitive about things.
I don't feel the same way about Vivienne, but I do hate some of the other companions.(well perhaps not quite hate the companions, but BioWares selling of them)
Vivienne though, I'm kind of neutral towards at the moment, I think I'll lean towards liking her rather than disliking though, but will have to wait and see.
I don't know what it is about her, but what I've seen so far hasn't endeared her to me. Perhaps it's the fear she's going to be incredibly pretentious.
However, I will reserve final judgement for her in-game. Wouldn't be the first time I thought I'd hate a character and ended up being quite fond of them come the actual game.
It's just something about the way she walks around, her facial gestures and everything.
She's one of those characters you hope you can Sparta kick off the hold.... and then revive using necromancy just to do it again.
Anyone else feel the same way ._.?
I haven't sympathized with her, either.
She just strikes me as being arrogant and presumptuous.
But then, I'm judging based on first impressions.
I like her dressing style, though. Wish I could go around dressed like that. ![]()

She is though. I may like Cass' personality (my opinion of Vivienne improved greatly after the Skyhold video) but Vivienne is hands down the best looking. Even with short ass hair.

Yeah that's pretty much the way the world is turning.
Welcome to 21th century, buddy. Best get used to it.
Who said you couldn't style like Vivienne? Unless you're attending a convention you might be institutionalised, but that's only a small price to pay when in pursuit of Fabulous.I like her dressing style, though. Wish I could go around dressed like that.

I'm not your buddy, pal. I will also wait for you to call out every poster on this thread and the board that states an opinion without a ten page disclaimer.
Oh look an opinion?Yeah that's pretty much the way the world is turning.

Hahaha.
You got me there.
Life is too short for hate, son.
You know, if a character has got a strong enough feeling to merit such a reaction even prior to the release date, then the DA team did what they wanted to I think the worst thing for the writers is a character that the player feels almost nothing for. According to David Gaider at GDC last year, Genn from NWN was such a character. The only reason why I can even member Genn's name off of the top of my head is because I was talking about him with a poster yesterday. ![]()
If you love Vivienne, Mary Kirby won. If you hate Vivienne, Mary Kirby won.
I know that writers in general don't always set out to make likeable characters. I think they like interesting characters that the fans will either grow to love or hate. I even conjecture that they find threads like this amusing. You're talking about our lovely mage, and you're passionate in your negative feelings for her. Hate's quite the strong word, after all.
Seems to me Mary accomplished her goal with Vivienne. ![]()

Ahhh.
We can't get be super best friends anymore. That's to bad.
Anyway, you do have great idea though with that disclaimer. Perhaps we can PM and get to writing it together. That sure would be swell.
Viv is not for basic bitches. I know for a fact that she will be my favorite and always in my posse.
It'll be fun to watch the Iron Bull get up her nose.
She's brittle--all courtiers are--and if the mages actually win their rebellion, her source of power as a free mage will be gone. So while she's made her position by being all Madame de Fer, she's actually quite vulnerable. I look forward to the character exposition. I'm not saying I'd like her as a roommate, but she should be interesting to watch, as she sides with whoever can guarantee her prestige.
I highly dislike her as well, but I'm not sure this needs a thread in scuttlebutt, this seems to fit more in the characters and story board.
But yes, I think I really won't use her at all, if I even recruit her. I'm highly pro-mage and she seems very snotty about the mages who wanted freedom from the Chantry. Also she seems like a very selfish person in general, with no care about other people, only those that can further her success. She and my inquisitor's will not get along I'm certain, so I will probably recruit her, talk through all her content, then kick her butt out into the cold for her to hike back to where-ever she came from.
But people are free to like or dislike anyone they please, haha.
