I've always been a huge fan of mounts, so I could be a bit bias here, but I'd like to know what everyone else thinks. Personally, I believe the mounts are genius. It adds more to the personality of our Inquisitor and deepens our connection to him/her. 

 

There are supposedly 30 mounts in total. The ones we know of are Horse, Red Hart, Bog Unicorn,Dracolisk (Collector's Edition Guide) and the Armored Mount (Deluxe Edition). At this point there is also an unnamed lizard-like mount, and a creature described as a cross between a nug and a water buffalo.

On the Dragon Age wiki, there is a screen shot of mount categories in game.

Horses. Dracolisks. Harts. Exotics. 

Now, there may be more categories, obviously, but I just thought the topic might be an interesting one to discuss. Are there any revealed mounts that you are partial to? Are there any that you'd like to see? Another important question to be asked is if any mount will be race restricted. A few romances are race-gated, so it's quite possible one or more of the mounts will only be available to certain races.

I would be fine with some mounts being race-gated cause it would just be another reason to playthrough as all the races

Oh i dig the armored mount coming with the deluxe. i hope there are more cool armored mounts like that.

 

or differently designed armored horses. like a Orlesian or Tevinter Armored horse, maybe a grey warden design even.

There was a twitch stream where Cameron Lee was walking around Skyhold, where they briefly showed some mount information. There are, based on the stream, four types of mounts; horses, harts, uniques, and dracolisks. I assume that the bog unicorn is a unique, along with things like brontos. No idea what a dracolisk is.

 

EDIT: Sorry, the fourth category is "exotics", not "uniques". I'll probably be riding dracolisks, just because I don't know what they are.

I thought they did? But, they have to be invited by the Halla itself or something like that. Can't remember that quest in DAO now, but the question of being a mount is answered in the Dalish camp ...

Well, they use halla to pull the aravels.  And there are some halla with barding in Heroes of Dragon Age. 

 

I'm not sure if the elves ride them or not.  Though if I were given the choice between that and a skeleton horse in real life, I'll take the crazy antelope any day.

Actually I'm not 100% sure on it either. I know they said they are not beast of burden and thought she said we do not treat them as such. You might be right, but I thought I remember them saying they dont. Meh. I really just wanted to use the warhammer 40k line if I'm being honest.

The caption is simply "dracolisk mount" -- since dracolisk is a category, I think the one pictured should have a particular name/species, but we haven't been told what it is yet.

 

At any rate, it seems that dracolisks as a category are some hybrid of scaly, snake/dragon-like thing with a horse. If the one pictured is anything to go by, expect fun colors!

Any theories where we may get more? Will they all be quest rewards, or can we buy some? Can we catch them in the wild?
