I'm fairly curious about what your guys choice on this matter was in Origins.

I had Loghain have the baby with Morrigan for two reasons. One, I love Loghain, he's one of my favorite character's in all of Dragon Age and if making him bone Morrigan was the only way to guarantee some type of plot importance in the future, then that's what had to be done. Secondly, I did it for the lulz, because that sex scene was so awkward omg. Origins is also bugged to where if Loghain performs the ritual his NPC doesn't recognize this factor and after the Archdemon is slain he is completely clueless and curious as to how the **** the Warden survived, even though the ritual was performed by and explained to Loghain prior to the Archdemon's defeat.

From now canonically Morrigan gets her baby in 2 of my worlds. My cousland queen and my elven mage mistress.

Otherwise it's Redeemer ending or US with Morrigan having a human baby.

Since I've romanced her many times, I always accept her proposal.

I really enjoy Loghain's character too, I rarely have him die in my playthroughs and want him to survive into Inquisition. In one of keep files I have my Warden perish killing the Archdemon without doing the dark ritual, and loghain surviving to serve in the Grey Wardens. And in another file I have a mage warden do the ritual himself and again Loghain survive. I have too much love for the man, I can't even bring myself to give his redeemable death against the Archdemon.

In my first pt, I had Loghain perform the DR with Morrigan, but I actually prefer not to do it.

One of my favorite pt's that are not my main one, was a Dwarven Noble who had a normal baby with Morrigan, didn't do the DR, and Loghain killed the Archdemon. He went through the mirror with her so I am quite curious how that might be referenced.

Didn't romance Morrigan but I took the Dark Ritual. Didn't want my character to die; didn't want to sacrifice Alistair.

Did it on my main that romanced her (Mahariel) and didn't on my other two that went with Zevran and Leliana. I may cheat on every relationship in my real life but I only cheat on Anora in the game. Cheating on Leliana with Morrigan just seems wrong, I doubt Zevran would have minded though but the charater that went with Zevran was not fond of women in that way.

To Sum it up

City Elf- Zevran No ritual , chose Loghain to die because screw Loghain

Cousland - Leliana No Ritual, Sacrificed myself couldn't bring myself to sacrifice a bro like Alistair.

Dalish Elf - Morrigan Ritual, lived and searched for Morrigan for years until he ended his journey the same way it began with a Eluvian.

Except once where I enlisted Loghain, I generally killed him. In that peculiar playtrough I made have the old god baby with Morrigan.

Except my first playthrough where my elf female mage made the ultimate sacrifice, I always made the old god baby and Morrigan's interactions in the LI were too good in my opinion.

Every time, but in my main canon, Fem!Mahariel convinced Alistair (King and her lover) to do it, even though Morrigan was her best friend. She tracked down Morrigan, since no one should have to bear a burden like that alone, but accepted she had chosen to leave through the Eluvian. I look forward to seeing if the Warden and Morrigan see each other again... Plus OGB will be like 10-15 years old, should be funny to meet "Auntie Warden-Commander" XD

Awww... "Auntie Warden-Commander", how heartwarming.. Too bad the warden would not be around in DAI

Seeing as the DR is the ONLY way for female wardens who romanced Alistair to survive and to continue a romance with him, I think most female gamers chose to do it.

As for me, I have 2 "main" world states which I enjoy the most.  On the first, I didn't do the DR, but still had a human baby with Morrigan... Ended romancing Leliana though.  I went the Redeemer route with Loghain.  I'm convinced it's the best "good-guy" ending possible for a male warden.

On the second one, I play a power-seeking, self-serving mage who falls in love with Morrigan, because she's so clever, beautiful, and devious... And I do the DR in a heart beat.  I also execute Alastair and let Loghain stay with the Wardens, because in my views, having the Queen of Fereldan owe me such a huge debt will come in handy some day.

My first playthrough was my Dalish Elf - she refused the Dark Ritual and sacrificed herself - Alistair is King (First Import)

My Human noble (Female) romanced Alistair, did the dark ritual and both of them stayed with the Grey Wardens (I have a king & queen save and I have two saves where I didn't do the dark ritual and sacrificed both of them.) (Second Import)

My Male Human noble romanced Morrigan, one playthrough - he did the dark ritual, the other playthrough he didn't do the dark ritual so she gets a human baby with him (I still haven't decided which import to do so I am going to see how my F!Cousland playthrough impact the game first and decide then) (3rd Import)

The rest were mixture - If I wasn't in a romance with Alistair and playing as a female - no dark ritual, If I played a male - I tended to use the Dark Ritual (but have saves where I never did).

Loghain never survived any of my playthroughs

Did Morrigan learn the Dark Ritual from Flemeth's grimoire?

Either my warden or Alistair did it. I played both male and female wardens.

No.

Pretty sure Flemeth taught her it before the warden left Ostagar. After all she offers you the ritual even if you never give her the grimoire.

Did Morrigan learn the Dark Ritual from Flemeth's grimoire?

Nope, it was Flemeth's and Morrigan's original plan all along to make the Old God Baby.  That's why they decided to help the Wardens.

hm...

Firstly I disagree about the name (it might be magic the circle does not know and the chantry would probably never approve (because the old "gods" (I don't consider them all powerful, so they are not gods - after all, a real god would not be tainted by darkspawn IMHO) are something they want to be destroyed, after all they challenge the chantry's power simply by existing) - there's nothing dark about it IMHO (after all: nothing is really destroyed - an unborn fetus in that early stage of development (Ferelden isn't that big, so marching from Redcliffe to Denerim does not take ages...Morrigan doesn't even have a visible bump when you reach the capital city) does not have a consciousness, so there's none to destroy (that's how the ritual actually works - a grey warden would have a consciousness and the existing one and the one of the old god cancel each other out, that's why a warden normally dies if he or she kills the archdemon!)...there's only something saved: the old gods' essence and power)

Secondly: Yeah, I did it everytime (haven't done one playthrough with the sacrifice (didn't have Loghain to sacrifice - I killed the traitor everytime as well (he commited high-treason - even if he thought he did it for his country - and that's just something I can't accept...yes, if he fought on Cailan's side, he and his army might have been lost as well (it's never made clear, that him acting according to plan would really have made much of a difference - it might be implied or it might not, I don't really know which), but treason is treason, no matter the reasons!)...didn't want to sacrifice my warden or Alistair - so I didn't have much of a choice :) ... Oh, and there's of course the glory of being the Hero of Ferelden and the only archdemon-slayer to ever survive :)

greetings LAX

I usually have Alistair do it because the look on his face is just priceless. I also don't understand why its called the "dark" ritual. You're purifying the soul of a tainted god and allowing it to be reborn into the world anew. Sounds nice to me.

Did it once for the achievement, not on any other warden. All the rest either died, or had alistair/loghain die.
