I'm pretty sure all Origin pre-orders are charged instantly.

Thanks.

Realized I had pre-ordered on the wrong account so I cancelled the pre-order in order to re-order it on the proper account... Thought it got charged instantly, but haven't seen the money go back into my account yet.... Holding out on that before I pre-order again.

I doubt that, or at least there have to be differences between different regions because I've checked a couple days ago (which was a couple days after I placed the pre-order on Origin) and my account hadn't been charged at that time.

Pretty sure it says in Origin's terms of use that charges are applied instantly.

Like I said, I've checked a couple days after I placed my pre-order and it had not charged my card. There was no error message when I did the purchase and the game is in my library.

I haven't checked since then though.

I haven't been charged yet, and I preordered way back in September. It's not an issue with my card, either, because I bought Dragon Age II in October, on that same card. At any rate, I *think* Origin charges when the game becomes available for preload. I had to dig and dig to even find that out, on the Origin site. So I can't remember where, exactly.

Thanks guys, sounds like its a bit of information that isn't well advertised. Guess I'll just redo my pre-order now then!

Different for different countrys it seems they have not charged me or my friend in Sweden could it be that they are not aloud until the predownload begins?

All they did for me was charge $1 to my card, standard, so they know the card has money.  After a few days the $1 was given back,  Says I'll be charged upon release.

It depends on your payment method. If you use PayPal the money is taken when you make your preorder, if you use your credit card I believe it is taken when you can download the game.

Not 100% on the credit card though as I always use PayPal.

I think they put a charge on it immediately, but they don't actually take the money until it's shipped.

Yes.

Unforeseen expenses creeping up for December, so there was no room for paying 100 bucks extra for some collectibles.

I'm pretty sure if you pay w/ a credit card you're not charged until you can actually download it. I think I remember reading that when I first preordered when I had looked up what their "Processing" status meant. Don't quote me though

If you pay for the game with paypal Origin charge straight away. But I ordered DDE in April, paying with my debit card and still waiting for Origin to charge me.

If you use paypal for any pre order (not just with Origin) then it is charged immediately. I know this because my hubby pre ordered Doctor Who Regenerations Collectors Edition off the BBC website and then noticed he had been charged immediately (he was expecting to be charged a few weeks later)

hmm... that makes me wonder actually.   My bank has since issued a new card with all these hacker breaches on stores.   If it hasn't been charged yet, the pre-order is going to have a non-functioning number.    Sigh..  The industry seriously needs to come up with a hack-proof payment method, having to go through and change all your card numbers on all your bills every few months is becoming a real pain.

Ok. got my card switched in Origins.   Thanks for this thread :)   I might have had my pre-order cancelled on me otherwise.

That said, I did check the Origins help faq for this question.    They will pre-authorize the card when you order to ensure its a valid card, but the charge itself is not taken out of your account until closer to release date.   Probably just before pre-load.

So if you saw a charge on your card after initially ordering it was just the pre-authorization process.

How do i see if my card have been charged? what should i look for i am looking for EA or dragon age is that weree i am wrong? but i do know that they have not charged med 700 for the digital delux yet .. i might need to check with origin support does anyone know how?

Edit: i checked my account and on my order it stated it wanted to charge my old creditcard and not my new card. thanks thrad for making me check..

it always said it was the 19th in the order/payment history. As for preorders, Typically they would set aside or "hold" the money you pre-ordered but not charge you until a later date. The money on your account is saved until its charged at a later date. Thats how i remember when i pre ordered from other places, and  it said it works the same on origin somewhere. Dont quote me on this though.

They only charge you at the time of purchase if you use paypal. If you've used a card they don't take the money until the 17th (or14th for the us)
