Calm down, Anders.  Before this thread explodes.

Anders was a fool, should have waited till Meredith and Orsinno where their at once, do a decapitation strike right.

I don't know about being killed, but if companions can leave because they disapprove, the advisers should be able to as well. If the Inquisitor is Anders-level pro-Mage, why would Cullen or even Leliana stick around? Well, I'm sure they won't let us play an Anders-like Inquisitor, but theoretically, you know?

Well for one, Leliana and Cullen aren't anti mage.  Lelliana and Casandra were very loyal to Divine Justinia who was very obviously reforming the circles, templars, etc and that defintely doesn't make them anti mage. Also, Cullen saves mages from Meredith in DA2, and the fact that he stayed loyal to the chantry rather than following Lambert and most of the Templars out the door is telling about where his loyalties lie.

Also, to the op, the idea that Cullen is some horrible mage hater because he is a templar is faulty logic. Yes, he was very anti mage in DAO after being tortured and watching his friends be killed by Uldred. I can understand why.  But the idea that because he is a templar he is evil makes about as much sense as saying that sense Uldred was evil and ended up being possessed all mages are evil and possessed, or that sense Adrian was willing to murder and manipulate even her friends to get what she wanted in Asunder all mages are the same.

And finally to whomever brought up the slides at the end of DAO--Gaider said at the time the game came out that they were just rumors and shouldn't be taken for fact or even accuracy.

If advisers are able to be killed or jailed, it should horribly cripple your Inquisition. For example: killing Cullen should lead to most of your forces leaving out of disgust for killing their commander, you also get the added bonus of losing power.

The Qunari are worse in my opinion, they mentally neuter anyone who doesn't follow the Qun. I really hope that it comes to pass that Andraste was a mage and if an elf even better, watch chantry heads implode. Cullen at least has a reason for his blinding hatred from first game, second game at end he begins to see the consequences of that (Meredith) and starts to pull back.

Well, he managed to resist him. That is impressive.
It's already stated that The reason for his recruitment is What he did after DAI.
Loghain can be dead.

Yea resisting Uldred is impressive, but that doesn't somehow make him a prime candidate to be a military adviser/in charge of armies depending on how inquisition is set up. You can say he got the Circle in Order after Meredith went ape ****, but at most that qualifies him to lead at the company or maybe battalion level, but nothing approaching the level of a general.

Probably not, as much as I'd like to

I assume Cassandra picked the advisors from people she knows that fit, not from qualification alone. Tbf, even though they're pointless imo Josephine is already a high placed diplomat and Leliana was essentially the divine's secrecy advisor, cullen is the only one lacking in qualification. Cassandra should be the military advisor and cullen a follower, that way we'd have a competent general and him being a follower means we could get him dead. Lots more people hate him than her

He restored order whole City, no just the Circle.

I'm sure Aveline and the city guard would like to have a few words with Cullen if he starts claiming such things. I can also see we are going to keep coming up with reasons for and against him being a military adviser, so yea I'll just say good night and hope you have fun when the game comes out.

I'm Not coming up with anything . The devs themselves Stated This in his introduction in the official site. This is the reason why Cassandra recruited him. It'a all stated in the site. Maybe before accusing someone you Should ask if their info is legit?
As for Aveline, she probably wasn't in charge in restoring order if she remained in the city. Keep in mind she remains only in the pro-templar route, in which The Champion supported the templars, so the latters probably gained even more power o the city guards.

Scout Harding can be recruited as your new spymaster.
Sister Petrice or Anders can be recruited as your new diplomat.
Teyrn Loghain can be recruited as your new military commander.

There :P

Scout Harding can be recruited as your new spymaster.
Scout Harding can be recruited as your new diplomat.
Scout Harding can be recruited as your new military commander.

You then win the game instantly.

Ummm...Aveline stayed with me every time I played, mage or templar.  Are you meaning rivaled Aveline will leave if you don't side templars?  Mine was 'friended'--I could never bring myself to rival her--and while I did choose templars like twice during a dozen runs, she never left my side on my mage runs.

I meant that if you support templars hawke doesn't leave kirkwall right after the fight with Meredith, so Aveline remained in the City. If you support the mages she leaves Kirkwall.

The Elder King ninjaed my answer.

Anyway here is what happens if you choose pro-mage with a not fully rivalled Aveline.

I know she can leave, I've seen the Utube, but I was trying to point out that it requires a set circumstances to reach that conclusion.  I guess I wasn't too clear in my post.  I blame the early hour here. -_-  Should be sleeping but had to get up early for mom duties.

Surely there are other army commanders with actual military experience...unless they all conveniently died in the blast or something.

Iron Bull has more military experience than Cullen.

So does Cassandra herself, she didn't need to recruit a military advisor
