I remember when Demos were free, everything else Bioware has done with pre-release has impressed me except the demo business. I mean, Bioware is making it difficult to play their produc before buying, not many people are going to pay for a subscription service just for a demo. Anyone else find this reprehensible? ![]()
Anyone else disliking the demo being EA Access only?

I dislike the EA Access thing, BUT, if you are still on the fence about buying or not on the first hour of day one, there's a free demo for everybody:
Youtube.

It's not a demo, friend. It's the first 6 hours of the full game, with a save that will carry over at launch, and those of us with EA Access are paying for this. It was offered to Sony as well, but they turned it down, and I honestly don't know why it isn't offered on Origin.
BioWare had mentioned before that demos were a ton of extra work, so that's why they weren't doing one for DAI, but early access is just a timed/level locked portion of the full game, so not the same thing at all. ![]()

I had forgotten about that, I partially retract what I said. Still, I'll miss the golden days of Demo's. Its not very often you get told your wrong and not be called a bad name on the internet, Thank you

Yeah, it isn't a demo. Demos are an entirely different thing entirely, plus this was most definitely not Bioware's decision. It was an agreement between EA and Microsoft.

Meh, since people are actually paying for a subscription to play it early, I don't care. I will never do such a thing personally. Waste of money if you ask me. That's just my opinion though. Think nothing of it.

I'm more disappointed in the fact that their Early Access is only for Xbone. This feels like a HUGE slap in the face to the avid fans of the DA universe that don't play on the Xbone. I have been playing since 2009 and I only play on the PC, because I like having all my spells/attacks right there to use instead of having to constantly switch around spells during a fight. I couldn't do it (I had tried on the PS3 for DAO). So those that are not on an Xbone get jack?
I've had the Digital Deluxe Edition on pre-order on Origins since it became available.
I would have been simply happy with access into the Character Creator. I would love to get acquainted with this new CC with all the great possibilities
But oh-well. Will just have to brood. I may have Fenris come help me with that...

I also love demos and I was hoping for one for DAI, but the devs made it clear that it wasn't going to happen for this game, sadly.
Oh goodness! I would never call anyone a name,
but you're most welcome, I'm glad you found what I posted helpful. ![]()

It is a demo. Demonstration version, as opposed to full version, since it's time-restricted. And I find it an unethical business practice to put previously free samples behind a paywall.

DAI is an EA game made by their BioWare studio not a BioWare game published by EA. Its really not surprising that EA are using the lure of their own product to entice people into their paid subscription service.

MS is trying to boost sales of the Xbox 900p, so they gave EA some cash for a little exlcusive on their system.
It definitely won't happen on PC, because it could easily be hacked and then game would be leaked on the internet.
Doesn't bother me much though. I mean, who cares about 6 hours of playtime before the game is released? I'm an adult, I can wait. No Problemo. ![]()

I'm surprised Origin hasn't been able to do free weekends and trials for games yet. That seems like a feature they should be adding.

It is a demo.
I've never played a demo that let me wander around a massive portion of the game and do whatever I wanted for 6 hours, nor did any demo allow me to import my save and carry on from that point upon release.
They list it as a trial, and for the majority of the people who subscribe to EAA, they do so to play the games in the Vault for a monthly fee instead of buying those games (like Netflix for EA games). The early access stuff is just seen as a side benefit and not the main reason for a subscription.

Well, of course I dislike it, but it's because of a deal between Microsoft and EA, so it's out of my hands and out of Bioware's hands and if anyone knows a way to make Microsoft and EA listen to me, I think I'd use that superpower to do more than complain about something so minor

It is a restrictive "demo" that can only be played during a certain window. I don't imagine you would be able to play the game outside of the time frame given to you by Microsoft.
Maybe they have made a thing that cuts your play at 6 hours exactly, but I think it is more likely that is is a time window of six hours to play the game. Not very convincing for anyone outside of NA to subscribe to EA Access. Or maybe EA Access should be more clear with how the six hours will play out when you are in the "demo".

Not demo, it is a typical shareware. With the exception you can't share it.
☑ Full software with some restrictions
☑ Limited time access, you can buy it after it runs out.
Those were/are usually for free, but not always.
Seems like EA just turned it into paid service. If people are willing to pay for that, it's allright, their choice.

I like to think that Ea access is more like gamefly, you subscribe and get to play games that are in ea access vault, in addition they give you an opportunity to play certain new upcoming titles. It is a restrictive "demo" that can only be played during a certain window. I don't imagine you would be able to play the game outside of the time frame given to you by Microsoft.

In relation to dragon age inquisition you are allowed to import your world state from the keep into your dragon age inquisition ea access trial. You get to wonder around for 6 hours into whatever areas they let you progress through (prologue/haven,hinterlands, or mp). The progress is saved for you, if you buy the game on nov. 18 you pick up right where you left off.
Oh you also get 10% off any game you decide to buy (including dai).

You don't pay for Origin. You do pay for EA Access.
And I'm no apologist for the Xbone but as someone pointed out, this isn't an Xbox exclusive offer, its an EA Access exclusive offer. EA offered EA Access to Sony and they didn't want it.
I'm a PC player so I wouldmn't benefit either way but blame Sony, not EA/MS
