I understand that you save $2 due to the 10% discount and price of the service. I'd hardly consider that a deal as you are essentially just paying $58 dollars for limited access to the game early (I believe the game is discounted if you buy it digitally anyways). Now if you were getting a 25% discount for the game without having to pay any service, like you can on PC, I consider that a deal as that's a quarter of the price knocked off the game before it's even out.

But you were talking about having to pay to get those 6 hours of dragon age inquisition early and I'm showing you a no cost way of doing it. That's a pretty good deal in that sense, I know it's all opinions at this point.

I don't deny that Microsoft may some poor judgments similar to Sony the last generation at the launch of a new console. They put all their eggs in a basket that the Kinect would revolutionize gaming and there was a massive outcry by the gaming community because of it.

Bill Gates hasn't been a factor with respect to the Xbox since the original. There difference between 900p and 1080p is minute and it's comical how big a deal console gamers make it. Xbox One isn't the Xbox 360 so the RRD aren't even remotely relevant (I went through nine Xbox 360s with RRD as I bought a first generation at launch).

Much like Sony came back last generation, Microsoft will come back this generation. Microsoft has Halo, which will sell the console far more than any other game.

poor judgements? i had to ship my 360 off to get fixed twice, thats product quality issue and its completely relevant just like everything else i brought up (well part from bill gates sub him for which ever douche only gives a stuff about the N.A market) you seem to confuse me with someone who cares about this "console war thing" i care about the best product.

For me living in australia the XBONE is a worse product then the PS4 if you're in N.A or europe it might be different but as a consumer M$ wanted more money for delivering less. I couldn't care if the xbone sell's more consoles then sony i wont buy it because its not worth it for me where i live the XBONE is still $498 here.

you lost your argument when you used M$ sign.  For your information both Sony and Microsoft focus on the largest gaming population in the world and that is the US if you don't count China's PC gaming seen.  Both Sony and MS use underhanded tactics if you can't see that I'm not so sure you're as unbiased as you say you are?  Also at last count Xbox One has more features than the PS4 and more AAA exclusives, this may change but right now the better feature set resides on X1.  Now you suckered me into this pointless debate and I'm ending it here as I do not want to violate site rules.  If you want to continue talking about EAA that's fine and I'll be happy to but the console discussion needs to stop.

I don't see why they haven't at least put out the CC like they did with Origins. Letting people play around with that for free always seemed like a great way of drawing people in to me. Give people the opportunity to make a cool character they're invested in and there's every chance they'll decide they want to make the step up to buying the game so they can use it.

from what I hear it cost a lot of time and resources to release a demo and that is why only the "trial of the full game is being released for members as its not a demo just time gated the full game.

I'm getting EA access hell it's £20 a year and I planned on getting PVZ anyway which is roughly the same price. It's a good deal in my opinion and its completely optional.

Why, yes, yes indeed I highly dislike it and feel like it should have been offered to anyone, or maybe those that pre-ordered. Nothing like alienating a large majority of your fans solely based on the console they use.

I would have even paid to be able to play it early, but alas, I have a PS4, so all I can do is very jealously watch the chosen play their games and get to experience it all while I cry into my hands.

//sighs forever.  :(

Fair enough. I have a feeling many will follow suit and only have EA Access for one month for the purposes of getting DAI.

Yes because a product that in no way reflects the new product clearly means the new product is defective? That's backwards logic. Again, I had to go through nine Xbox 360s, so your "hardships" do not move me in the slightest.

Your argument is illogical and pointless raging. Make Microsoft the boogie man all you'd like, but don't fool yourself into believing Sony cares more about their customers than anyone else.

If Sony really cared, they would not have rejected EA and EA Access would be available on the PS4.

I don't care much for it being Xbox One.

but I still do like waiting to see what the general response to the game will be before buying and this will do that before it even fully launches, so I got that going for me.

not saying sony cared at all i'm saying sony is cheaper (well was). and MS doesn't offer most of their extra content where i live to make it worth the extra money.

and like it or not a company plagued by a persistent problem means i'm wary of buying a product from that company even if their different versions.

i won't buy a toyota anytime soon after all the **** they've had wrong with them.

EDIT: my entire point is about this BS idea that i've "betrayed" M$ for not forking out extra money for NO reason other then i bought a 360.

Funnily enough, that's somewhat how I feel about Sony after my experience with my PS2.

I'm aware of the other games. The point, specifically with this forum, is that everyone is buying EA Access solely for DAI. Unless you are big into sports games, the service itself really isn't a deal at all. The only other game of any value is BF4, which has already been out for a year.

My point is if you are just getting EA Access solely for DAI to play six hours early, there is no deal. The discount you obtained was paid for by your subscription.

Now, if you just happen to love all of EA's games and take full advantage of the service, more power to you. Considering 80% of the titles thus far are likely games nobody would actually want to play, I'd wager many are just getting it solely because of one game in most cases.

That is quite the assumption you have there. I signed up for EAA for a year right when it became available, and we (my family) have played every game in the vault. The fact that  DAI was going to have an early trial was just an added incentive, but not the reason why we signed up. It really is Netflix for EA games, and it's an attractive offering for people who like EA games, but may not want to go out and buy them all at full price. We feel we have already gotten our $30 worth, and we still have most of our year subscription left to enjoy.

If you want to believe that every person that posts on these boards got EAA solely for the DAI trial, go ahead I guess, but it simply isn't true.

Meh, doesn't really bother me. These days, games ship with a lot of bugs and usually come with a day-one patch. I usually refuse to play before I'm able to get the day-one patch for fear of some game-breaking issue or annoyance.

Edit: I assume the early access version will not have the day-one patch.

I doubt the EAA content will need it as they have had several groups of Youtubers testing the same content over the past few weeks.

The early access does not bother me.  I want to wait to play the full game and not play a few hours and then wait days to play again.  That would drive me crazy!  What I do dislike is that DLC is coming to Xbox first.  That to me is more of a slap to the face to loyal fans than early limited access.

I dislike it, but I don't care much about it. You could play the "demo" a week before the game is released. I can wait just one week.

Let's take a step back.

Video games are expensive to make and need a funding model to make that work.

Piracy and free-to-play games with micro-transations are examples of the challenges to boxed games.

The EA Access concept is interesting, like Netflix. Its offering - its vault - should be the component that drives membership and it's fairly thin now.

But add a purchase discount and early access to a game I'm looking for? ok - I'll give that a go. The scheme is ambitious and may become something.

In a perfect world we could all play what we like but for Console players that's not the case.

Do you want to play Bloodborne or Tomb Raider? How many 'p' do you want?

These are all promotions to gain traction at the start of a console generation cycle.

As for the 6 hours access - it's quite clever.

It's enough time for people with an Xbox One to consider the scheme worthwhile.

It's not enough time offered for everyone else to riot.

Ultimately, your logical assessment is going to be strongly impacted by whether

you have the requisite piece of kit to access the trial. At another time PS4 may benefit from something, or PC.

Personally I'm not unhappy to have DAI sitting downloaded (but locked) on my Xbone

but I realise I was lucky this time and there is a small cost.

There are certainly always exceptions to the rule. As I stated before, unless you are a major fan of EA Sports, or for some odd reason never picked up Battlefield 4, there is nothing in EA Access that is worth playing. EA should be placing their best and brightest franchises front and center (BioWare catalog, DICE catalog, Visceral catalog, Crytek catalog, Respawn catalog, etc.). There are plenty of amazing franchises and games that are simply missing that would constitute a real "Netflix for EA games."

Instead, they are giving access to a lot of B-grade software and throwing in the occasional nugget (Battlefield 4 and DAI early access) to entice people to pay a $5 monthly subscription. I am fan of a lot of EA franchises and I own an Xbox One. That being said, this is certainly not the prized deal that EA is claiming, but it certainly could be if they actually wanted. That is the point. It's a money grab. I'm happy you are enjoying it though. I doubt many will share your sentiments.

Too bad it's mostly sports games that's up for "play first" as of right now. I'd rather staple my balls to a burning log than play any of the NFL, NHL, FIFA and whatnot games. *shudders*

It is just another attempt by EA, to get people to use EA access. Making people pay for a demo is just low.
