People actually like Gaspard??? Y???

He has easily the most noticeably sized fan base out of the three players at Halamshiral.

He's kind of an anti-Orlais Orlesian, in that he disparages "the Great Game." It seems like his fans most enjoy his military mindedness and his competence at strategy...and badassery.

Don't forget his bromance with a champion specced warrior!

Oh, we also like his upfront nature and how there is little political bullsh*t with him, and how he seems like the most honest person compare to Celene or Briala, at least if he's going to betray the Inquisitor. I can expect him to challenge the Inquisition with force, and not a dagger in the back.

So...He and Michel are OTP? I had no idea! There should be a banner or something.

Right, he'd just bring along a few hundred Chevaliers, "prove they're better than diplomacy" as he says, and then they can stab you in the back. With swords, like real gentlemen.  :P

Oh, not really. I think if he really set out to and then succeeded in bringing down the Inquisition, he'd give the Inquisitor a very civilized execution. There would probably even be a good meal and a bottle of Celestine black to ease the tension of the evening before.

Gaspard is loyal to his own standards of honor and fair dealing, I'll give him that much credit.  -_-

Better that than Celene or Briala humiliating the Inquisitor in the court where every Orlesian nobles can witness, or poison in the Inquisitor's food or drinks. As if Celene or Briala is incapable of having a few hundred Chevaliers or their personal thugs to kill the Inquisitor outright. What can I say, Orlesian politics are vicious and these two ladies are fierce when it comes to their own power or agenda. As far as I know both Celene and Briala is far from being an innocent and helpless bird. :P

A true gentlemen style eh? What you just describe remind me of Pagan Ming. A good meal and civilized talk. I'm not sure if Celene or Briala will give the Inquisitor the same very civilized execution, but I doubt these three is going to turn against the Inquisition, let alone has the courage to do so anytime soon. I do believe that if partnership with the Inquisition benefit both parties they all will cling onto it.

Thank you, you're right. But don't mind me, Lady Arti. I'm just expressing my opinion why I like him more than Celene and Briala. I'm not planning to convince anyone or shove my opinion down to people's throat. Well, I respect people right to their own opinion and belief.  ;)

Well, the only option that close to that is blackmailing those three to work together.

I was looking more of the "chaos for Orlais" -option.  B)

Unfortunately, that's the only thing that's close to "chaos for Orlais" option, as the epilogue suggested. Nontheless, Orlais will have to spend sometimes to lick its wound after their civil war, and the Breach.

Turns out Gaspard can betray the Inquisition. Now people who complain about Celene doing it can shut up:

How do you end up with either one opposing the Inquisition?

I guess it have something to do with low court approval.

You mean people like racist warmongers who will execute everyone who doesn't agree with hem? I know I'm never supporting him after his racist comments to my elf

Yes?

I'm not a fan either, but Celene actually torched Halamshiral. I can understand and accept that people see her as little better. It also shouldn't be too surprising that his racism doesn't hinder his accruing a fan base if we consider Saren, Loghain, or TIM.

I laugh when people use the torching as an argument against Celene and then go on to support Gaspard, apparently thinking he wouldn't do the same thing in Celene's place or forgetting that the torching was a result of his actions or how he says he is going to do the exact same things Celene did to people who oppose him.

I think the difference is that Gaspard has Briala in his ear and under his rule, the elves in Orlais gain more rights.

I don't think that he wouldn't do the same thing. His plan hinged on the massacre happening, making it his responsibility as well as Celene's. The culpability of one doesn't erase the culpability of the the other.

Also, do you realize that you just implied that I'm a Gaspard supporter while quoting a post where I said that I'm not a fan of his?

Or the Dalish.

They have a lot of fans despite a good portion of them being rabid xenophobes.

True, and to be fair a lot of the societies in DA have strong xenophobic tendencies.

I think the writers carry it to excess sometimes with the Dalish, actually, especially lately. There's only one Dalish clan that we know of who doesn't vehemently spurn interactions with humans and not only do we not really meet them but we can also accidentally get them all killed.

I really hope next game allows us to play a city elf again.

And once again it's the same person complaining that this thread has been bumped. Someone's struggling with the idea that someone could really like something that they don't.
