Saying this was possible, just for the sake of argument, are you sure it would even help? The perception of "legitimacy" is an issue with an heir. I'm not so convinced the nobility would just accept one with an unknown father.

Well, it was mostly a joke. However, while legitimacy is a thing, we haven't noticed bastards being disinherited in the same way they would be in our world; Alistair, for instance, was still eligible for the throne. They wouldn't be the first choice, but seem to be preferable over people with no blood connection.
