Which betrays an ignorance of both the Mage/Templar situation and how the Circles work

Really?

But Mages played a small part in the occupation of Fereldan; and i wouldn't be surprised if Templars accompanied them.

Furthermore i wouldn't be shocked to learn they also were involved in their liberation of the Free Marches from the Qunari.

Orlais seems to be able to make...requests to the circle for that sort of thing.

His militaristic attitude makes me believe he'll have traditional values though.

Not necessarily. He only cares about Chantry doctrine regarding mages until it stops being convenient for him.

Also, Celene decided that she was going to take a more firm stance on magic after her adventures in the ancient ruins.

Indeed; He is capable of adapting the usage of magic to aid him.

Before, Fereldan was still considered Orlesian territory, which could be used to justify the use of Circle mages in battle (to quell a violent rebellion). Now it is a sovereign kingdom, and a White Chantry one at that. Their use against the Qunari was a no-brainer, for they are aggressors of a heathen religion.

Using mages against fellow Andrastians literally goes against the Maker's commandments.

That's why you do it very quietly.

<.<

And then classify the entire thing for fifty years.

If you want to risk the throne, or worse, a potential second schism, sure.

Cailan was out in the field with his men. That choice led to civil war within his country. I don't have issue with Celene over this. Leaders of nations should play to your strengths and not take unnecessary risks.

Yet Celene takes an unnecessary risk when she rode with her forces to Halamshiral just to prove her worthiness to Orlesian nobility, it almost cost Celene her life and she could have sent her general to quell the riot while staying in Val Royeaux to counter Gaspard's plan instead of walking straight into Gaspard's trap.

I hadn't forgotten. It proves my point, Celene is not a military mind and what was meant to be a simple display of power over a weak rebellion turned out to be a coup attempt for the throne. Gaspard, manipulating Celene through the Game, then changing the rules on her. It was stupid, her Champion was stupid for allowing it to happen (among other things). If someone argues that Gaspard being with his men makes him more a leader than Celene is, I ask why would she when it didn't work out for her or Cailan.

They ruined him. Where his strenght  and charisma? In the book lesbian Celene find him attractive instead we have Prosper's clone. The worst designer's work.

Let's not forget that he killed 3 men to become a knight and birn down city and villages. He has to be intimidate.

Not an important decision to me to be honest.

She can suck it up and accept the duty that comes with office like a good leader.

Or she can be replaced, either way works for me.

Adopt an heir. If it works for Rome, I don't know why it wouldn't work for Orlais.

She didn't seem inclined to do that either.

In fact it wasn't even broached; not to mention Orlais is not Rome.

I agree with this, nothing wrong with adoption. Although to be fair Rome had zero issues with adoption as far as I know, Orlais might not be so lenient.

To be fair she is pretty young, she doesn't really have to think about it for a while. Or perhaps she has thought extensively about it and already has a plan? Hard to say.

because the political system of rome and orlais are different. The clasical roman empire was not decided upon by a monarchy. At least not in the way that we view monarchies. The emperor's position came from several different titles, but he was not a king. This is important, becasue for a long time romans feared the return of a monarchy so their system evolved this way.

Orlais is inspired by france, more of france during the french renaissance(1500s/1600s). It is a monarchy in truest form. While there are other succession methods available besides eldest child, this is what seems to be the case for Orlais. It is a different political system. Both involve almost absolute leaders, but they are still different political styles of government..

This actually reminded me a bit of Celene and Gaspard.

The overall implications...anyway.

I'll take a third option, please.

I wouldn't be heartbroken if Celene and Gaspard did not survive.
