Two words, people: custom soundtrack.  Insert clips from your mp3s into the game in appropriate (or at least entertaining) moments.  An example:

You've been romancing the ladies and they're starting to get wise to you.  After a hot-and-heavy session of Who's Your Bard with Lelianna, you meander over to say goodnight to Morrigan.  As she attacks your poor taste and lack of tact, Avril Levigne breaks out, "Hey, you, I don't like your girlfiend."  :o

And any love scene could be improved with some bow chicka bow wow funk or even a taste of Barry White.  Perhaps some Queen during the bigger mob battles, singing "Another One Bites the Dust", particularly with a melee-heavy crew stabbity-stabbing away.  C'mon, what other songs make you think of a particular scene in Dragon Age?

After the end credits just a picture of Morrigan walking away:

Alice Cooper - How you gonna see me now?

For a Morrigan romance I think the Buzz****s' Ever fallen in love with someone (You shouldn't have fallen in love with) would be appropriate.

Maybe when you talk to get the three romances, the "I want it all" of queen would be neat.

On the violence trailer, the "this is the new ****" plays along quite nicely for the battle scenes...

The fighting music is really pissing me off by now, oh how I'd love to hear 30STM's "Attack" during an epic battle...

Sorry but i think thats a bad idea. To play modern contemporary music with DAO is a really good way to break all immersion.

I've played my own music during the game. The fight at the bridge in Bownommar just calls for 'Winterborn' by the Cruxshadows.

I tend to listen to E.S. Posthumus while I play my game... the music fits in my opinion. Unless you get something like 'Oraanu Pi' while you're fighting darkspawn lol

If I remember I think someone made a mod for KOTOR that was similar to this idea, allowing you to play your own mp3 tracks ingame, Maybe something similar coul be done for DA?

I would love that! The reason I don't listen to my own music while playing is that I'm still discovering new dialogue and I'd hate to miss it. I've got a soundtrack running in my head all of the time anyway so it wouldn't break my immersion in the game in the least. I would definitely replace Leliana's song with something hardcore (or maybe Frente's Slow Dog, to freak out my Mabari).

I personally dislike having music with lyrics in games like this, where dialog is so crucial to the story. Also, most lyrics would seriously ruin the immersion for me. I could definitely see playing some of the music from games like BG2 or NWN though, as those types of music mesh well with the game.

I can definitely see where you're coming from though. To each his/her own.

I think the music score is excellent as it is. The only thing that gets annoying is some of the battle music, especially if it's a long fight and you play on a difficulty that makes you need to reload a battle a few times. I really had enough of the music for the Redcliff zombie battle for example.

On a side note. Bioware could certainly use more music scores by "Two steps from hell" in their games. The music for the ME2 launch trailer is just totally amazing.

I love the Dragon Age music but ever since I read about hardening Alistair the lines - I'm gonna harden my heart, I'm gonna swallow my tears - (Harden My Heart by Quarterflash) has been in my head.

Dragon Age clearly lacks plot twists. Too boring.

Actually, I just "hardened" Lelianna for the first time today and that song would be perfect in the background!  Image IPB

Edited to add that it isn't that I don't like the in-game music, but I don't listen to the songs I love best as often as I'm forced to hear the songs in DA.  Sometimes, a girl just likes a little variety.  Image IPB

My custom battle music playlist:

* During fights when PC is not in relationship with party members: Danger Mouse - 99 Problems
Just for the Helter Skelter-sample.

* Battle after uncovering black vials: Rick Astley - Never gonna give you up
'Cause you just got rickrolled.

* When using Blood Control spell on darkspawn: Los del Rio - Macarena
Imagine being evil and someone played this while you can't run away.

* During Broodmother battle: Donna Summer - She works hard for the money
Awww, Broodmothers have problems too.

* Loghain battle: The Sex Pistols - My Way
Sid Loghain rocks!

* Dragon battle: Björk - Human Behaviour
Dragons just don't get what's so wrong with what they do.

* Fighting oghres: Martin Short - You're playing with the big boys now

* Fighting the undead/wherewolves: The Misfits - Monster Mash
Cuddly wherewolves.

* Random fights: Me First and The Gimme Gimmes - On The Road Again

* When first seeing Howe: Vera Lynn - We'll meet again

* Arl of Denerim's estate dungeon: Martha Reeves & The Vendellas - Nowhere to run
But with a Warriors-sentiment, I hate Howe.

* Fight with Howe: Saigon - Repercussions
"You f**k with my family, understand that you're going to see...."

Custom cut-scene music:

* If Alistair agrees to do the deal with Morrigan: Dean Martin - You're nobody 'till somebody loves you
or if you want funny: Monty Python's Flying Circus - Every Sperm Is Sacred

* When first encountering Morrigan: Prince - Irresistible b**h

* When dumping Leliana: Sarah McLachlan - When she loved me

* When meeting King Cailin and he's so gay with Duncan: April March - Chick Habit

Companion music (if you switch control during battle to other partymembers this is what you'd hear playing in their heads):

Alistair: Trio - Da Da Da
Leliana: Maria Callas - Ave Maria
Morrigan: The Police - Every little thing she does is magic
Oghren: Dead Kennedys - Too drunk to f**k
Wynne: The Ramones - I wanna be sedated
Zev: Billy Crystal - You Look Marvelous
Sten: - (No)
Shale - Me First and The Gimme Gimmes - I Am a Rock

Wow, not one instance of  Still Alive...

How has nobody mentioned playing "Still Alive" after killing the Archdemon via Dark Ritual yet? :P

Also, for Warden's taking off after Morrigan at the end of the game - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers.

I would go with the English version of "Harvest of Sarrows" by Blind Guardian in the epilogue after romancing Morrigan.

Massive applause for those!  And for battles where only one of your party members has to mop up around your dead friends?  Stayin' Alive, of course.  Image IPB

Oh, I like this game:

If the PC thinks about leaving the Wardens after Ostagar: "Head Home" - Midlake

Redcliffe at Night: "They Are Night Zombies!! They Are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back from the Dead!! Ahhhh!" - Sufjan Stevens

Within the Brecilian Forest: "Werewolf" - Cat Power

The Gauntlet: "The Ghosts Around You" - Longwave

Stuck in the Fade: "The Great Escape" - We Are Scientists (also works if your PC breaks him/herself out of Fort Drakon)

Zevran Romance: "Buried Treasure" - Grant-Lee Phillips

Fight With Howe: "Tonight the Sun Will Rise" - People in Planes

If the PC or Alistair takes the Dark Ritual: "Under the Milky Weight" - Grant-Lee Phillips

March to Denerim for the Final Battle: "Blue Skies Over Bad Lands" - Matthew Good or "Down the Line" - Jose Gonzalez

Archdemon Fight: "One Man Army" - Our Lady Peace

If the PC sacrifices himself: "The Funeral" - Band of Horses

And for the Upcoming Awakenings: "Here I Dreamt I Was an Architect" - The Decemberists (okay, not really)

This. If someone makes a mod, good for you. Otherwise...lawl.

Honestly I'm a lil amazed a mod like that hasn't got wind here, the mod community here seems rather slow compared to how active mod comms were in previous games...
