SI Executioner or no ******. Well that's how I finished that pistol challenge.
Paladin is very good on human engineers and asari adept.

There's no situation where the Paladin is better than the Arc Pistol.
But the Paladin has a great firing sound, and does have cool points for appearance. Carnifex variants 4 lyfe.

Maybe on the Stasis Asari.
I (think I) remember that you cannot one-shoot A "stased" Phantom with both.
I this situation I don't like to wait for the Arc Pistol to charge again.
With the Paladin, the second shot comes relatively fast and finishes it off.
The reason I prefer the Paladin is because no charge-up. I actually don't like to use the Arc because my right forearm gets sore after 1 match from constantly charging it. It's an awesome sawed-off black widow..just annoying to always hold down the right trigger.
N7 Paladin>Arc Pistol>Paladin Pistol

Arc Pistol is absurdly broken.
at least it comes at a "price"
because you need good timing (or skill) to coordinate an ideal rythm of charging and using powers.
+ positioning
+ aiming
+ watching out for enemies
Maybe you don't even think of that because it comes natural to you... ;-)

20 minutes of practice with the Arc Pistol is all that is needed to master it.

I think it depends on the build. If you take 5a in the passives and use Warp Ammo IV, I'm somewhat confident you can one-shot a Phantom in Stasis on Gold with the Arc Pistol.
I may be totally wrong though, so hopefully someone can provide the maths.

you don't need to use powers with Arc Pistol and you just described stuff you need to do in the game all the time anyway

so........ you are saying you need to be good to be good with the arc pistol?
well golly gee, whoda thunkit?
I use the Paladin on my Paladin for best synergy.
Well, I had my problems.
with the arc pistol more than with a normal gun.
and I am not the baddest of all players. that's why.
Just takes a little to get used to the charge based weapons. It gets a lot easier with a little practice then the thing becomes absolutely broken.

I hate the "price" crap, because essentially, we are saying that all guns must either be fun to use and crappy, or not fun to use and good. Charge weapons suck, and the over buffing of them because they suck was bull crap.
This isn't even a contest. Paladin is a solid weapon, but the only way it can get close to the glorious Arc Pistol is on the Destroyer. Even on the Tsol or Quarksman it runs out of ammo far too quickly. For any other kit the Arc is quite vastly superior as long as you actually know how to sync power use with its charging cycle, assuming you bother using powers with it at all, because it isn't required and is often detrimental in terms of DPS to simply shooting all the things in the face.

Actually, now that you mention this it is interesting to note that many of the weapons that are universally considered among the most effective (Arc Pistol, Reegar, Harrier, Venom) are not all that great from hardcover because of either charge mechanics or other quirks (short range or stupid recoil). I wonder if that was intentional because people who were balancing the game don't play the same way that most higher level players do in simply ignoring the hardcover mechanic outside of very specific situations.
