Greetings,

to honour today's N7 day here's a look at the playable characters.
(I don't want to say too much yet as things might change further along the road.
It is currently planned to give people two kinds of armor - heavy and light for casters, depicted here is only one version
Also, i hate to admit it, but I traced the basics of these from in-game models and just added some things here and there ...)

EDIT:
I made some skin tone adjustments to Akarius, but don't wonder if there are comments about it below.

Looking good. Linessis does look a bit plain probably because lack of any facial markings. I admit I had brief "Garrus, that you?" moment lol. Since male and female turian share same name (assuming it's first name) I'm guessing they are technically the same character just with different gender?

for all of those the name given is the last name - like 'Shepard'.
All four share a backstory as far as it is possible, like being born on the respective homeworld. Thus the facial tattoos for Palaven on the Turians. And I get that one is tempted to compare them to Garrus. You have no idea how often I went in and changed the skin colours for those two, trying to find the balance between not lookng like Garrus and working well with the armour's colours  ;)
Perhaps I should have used simpler skin tones e.g. using one colour for the entire face or make the difference less noticable. Maybe I'll have to do that small adjustment.
Also, I think part of the problem is that Garrus is the only Turian we ever saw with those tattoos - probably to make him stand out - and it always seemed a bit odd to me that he'd be the only one from Palaven that we see in three games. On the other hand perhaps Palaven has more than one tattoo depending on region? But we never really heard of it ... or at least I am not aware of it. *shrug*

Ah, when crew members were introduced their first names were given so I though you did same for the protagonists.

Yeah, out of all turian tattoos I've seen I have only found one that had some similarities (blue and partially same area painted) with one Garrus has. Bioware seems to make squad members more unique, Garrus having unique face tattoo, Tali having suit that stands out, Wrex being only krogan with scars and so forth.

I think it's combination of armor and face tattoo that makes them appear like Garrus. At least to me since I've been playing ME1 recently where he wears his black and blue C-sec armor.

not to mention that Garrus wears a visor as another unique feature

But I did sample Garrus' colours and applied them to the concept piece and then moved away from it. Could it be that by trying to get away from that version that was removed from Garrus I circled right back?! They probably look different enough by direct comparison. But my intention wasn't to make them look like Garrus - I just wanted the tattoo, the armor ... well the armor has it's reasons  ;) - so if people think they're too similar to Garrus I'll change it. After all it was certainly something that came to my mind, too, but I had hoped the difference has gotten big enough.
If it hasn't it's back to the drawing board ... litterally

with a direct comparison between Garrus and Akarius there's quite the difference. I'm not entirely sure if it's just the lighting situations, but it seems like there's a brown-ish version of Garrus and a grey-ish one. Anyway, I reduced the difference between the general face colour and the one around the beak and overall made Akarius a bit darker again. I hope that better sets them apart from Garrus, because it's no use if the difference is only visible when directly comparing them.
Thanks for the feedback that helped clarify the issue  :)
