I think that is most ly due to Elcor and Krogan being biologicaly incompatible..

now im wondering what a turian shlong looks like.

there is a game where the potential female LI could even de a skeleton. i cant remember the title but you were a dragon.

Here's some ideas:

01. A Tal-Vashoth Grey Warden who still adheres to ideals of the Qun while feeling the role of the Grey Warden is necessary to maintain order. She obviously would not be romanceable as romance is not really seen as necessary or ideal under the Qun. Class wise she could be either a rogue or mage. As a mage her joining was a safe-route given the Qun's treatment of mages while still preserving the ideals of law and order (eradicating darkspawn, which she sees as her task or station). As a rogue, it would go against the idea that tall and muscular = warrior, and instead focuses her athletic talents towards archery.

02. A dwarven military commander. Given most of the dwarven soldiers we've encountered were male, having a commander that earned her respect and rose through the ranks as one of Orzammar's/Kal-Shirok's most venerated and powerful warriors would give her quite the presence. Or perhaps she was a surfacer dwarf serving in Anderfels or Ferelden. Naturally, she'd focus her efforts towards weapon and shield combat. Looks wise I'd have to go with blonde hair, if only because the majority of our female LIs have black hair.

03. A dwarven bard from Orlais. It's said the bard order takes any race, and we've yet to see a dwarven bard (I actually had this concept for one of my Orlesian Warden-Commanders, a surfacer dwarf who was an ex-bard). Completely defies the gruff, weathered vibe most dwarves give off (even sunny and perky Sigrun came from such an order, even if her personality says otherwise). Well versed in the arts, poetry, and a connoisseur of only the finest fashion. Even having a bit of haughty Vivienne-style vibes where applicable. Of course, the rogue class suits the bard best, though I can see this one dual wielding daggers. Looks wise I'd probably distance her as far from Leliana as possible (because you know there will be 'those people' that say we don't need another Orlesian/bard because Leliana). Romanceable would be a plus, possibly gated towards elves given her less than human status. Probably prefers dealing with elves much more.

04. A non-Dalish barbarian warrior elf (inspired by Su Lu Pi). Dressed in scars and war paint and wields two handed weapons. Tends to drink excessively, has a very quick temper and easily provoked. Also can hurt missions involving diplomacy given her tendency to be extremely blunt and crass, but nevertheless tons of hilarity ensue with her. However, her loyalty is unshakeable, and her friendship arc is an incredible sismance. Romanceable, maybe. But I'd prefer her focus being on friendship.

Celtic, I'd give you 100 likes each for those amazing dwarf ladies.  The one with the battle axe might be my new spirit animal.....

Trust me, I'm thinking about holding off my fem qunari mage/male elf rogue for a dwarven lady warrior/rogue on my first run. Might do more than one actually, and this is coming from someone who maybe rolls one dwarf for every ten humans or three elves.

*takes random offtopic silent moment to offer thanks to BioWare for bringing back the races, otherwise these awesome ideas wouldn't not have come to fruition*

Do feel free to share more pics and ideas for non-human female party members. Elves, qunari, dwarves, all are welcome!

Why no female krogan or turian or salarian companion?  Why do female characters always have to specifically be of the races that happen to look the sexiest?

Well, Salarian females never leave Sur'Kesh since they are the leaders. They have their males who consist of 90% of their population for that sort of thing.

Krogan females were guarded since the Krogan were(or still are depending on what Shepard does) a dying race.

As for Female Turians, I thought Nyreen looked really neat so I would not oppose having a female Turian as a companion and/or LI.

I second your thanks to Bioware.  It really makes the game so much more interesting and enjoyable to me.  Hawke will always be my least favorite DA protagonist as long as the others have the ability to choose race.  I just find humans incredibly boring to play as.

One of the reasons why I fell in love with Bioware over 15 years ago was the ability to make the Bhalspawn a dwarf female.  I grew up reading Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms and always thought that dwarf females were sorely overlooked.  Bioware changed that a bit for me and my 'canon' Bhalspawn is a dwarf lady.  The only female Wardens that I've ever rolled beyond Ostagar were dwarf females.  And I fully expect that my lady Inquisitor will be a dwarf, although she might very well be Qunari, depending on how it goes.  But I'm thinking hardened Carta Thug dwarf warrior lady for my Lady Cadash.  And that's why I love those pics!

Female Qunari (don't mind the tails, to me Tieflings come off as the closest thing to a Qunari):

4e_tiefling_t.jpg

(perfect for a qunari spy or agent)

228px-Tiefling.jpg

(makes a great mage or rogue, trade the red samurai armor for Grey Warden-theme)

Tiddles.png

(a brutal Ben-Hassrath agent)

(minus the red skin, she'd be a perfect Tal-Vashoth/mercenary commander)

I wonder sometimes though if it was designed like that from the start or if it was added later as an explanation for why we'd never seen Salarian and Krogan females before. Because they easily could have designed those cultures in a way that didn't restrict the movement of their females so much.

I don't think so since it was explained that way since Mass Effect 1 first came out.

I didn't actually know that about the salarians, but now it makes me desperately wish to visit the salarian homeworld in the next Mass Effect.

For the krogan, I always thought they could work with that.  It's stated that the krogan females run their own clans separate from the male ones, as protection.  Female krogan seem to set their own rules and laws.  With how few fertile females exist, the vast majority of the female krogan must be doing everything else in their society, including working as guards to the fertile females.  They also go out as delegates to the other clans, so they aren't entirely immobile.  And I find it unlikely that no female krogan ever decides to just take off and see the stars.  It would certainly be less common to run across a female krogan, but all of our companions are exceptional to begin with.

Yeah, I hope we can see Paavan, Sur'Kesh, and Thessia rebuilt. Hopefully visit their capitols.

As for the Krogan, hopefully in future games they will expand. I would love to have a Krogan Battle-maiden as a companion.

I figured the reason why there were not female of the various races shown in the ME series early on was that they would need to design, create models and animations for the females that would probably need to be different than the males, and that besides this requiring more work and resources could also be objects of contention for them being too female or not female enough.

I agree. I also see this as the inherent problem. :) they're making the default male partially because they feel women, even aliens, have to be "sexy"

I don't think the DA team is as overt/deliberate with this mentality as the ME people, but its probably a factor.

I disagree.

We have seen a Female Krogan and she was not sexy.

We have seen a Female Salarian and she was not sexy.

We have seen a Female Turian and she was not sexy.

We have seen a Female Rachni and she was not sexy.

We've seen only a handful of each of those, while there are tons of the male version.

one was in a DLC and one was pretty much required since the krogan plot revolved around having babies..and yet still krogan females didn't take center stage until the third game.

I do agree that it was implemented well, when they decided to do it. :)

Yeah I mean it's not like nefarious, deliberate muahahHAHAHA only sexy!!!!! Just that I think, especially given some dev comments, its fair to say its at least one contributing factor to how that played out.

I Really wish they had made Scout Harding a romanceable companion, so I'd really love to see her or a character similar (dwarf female bad ass) in the next game.
