Can we really classify Morrigan as human?

The real question here is: Are chansid humans?

with their mongolian foreheads and shiny eyes (plus the arab accent of mr crazy one) can we clasify them as human or just another race?

I Really wish they had made Scout Harding a romanceable companion, so I'd really love to see her or a character similar (dwarf female bad ass) in the next game.

want dagna since origins...and sigrun and velanna....ehhh...bioware just do not like non-humans male wardens(at least dwarf noble can have childrens), inquisitors and females non-humans in party

I don't think so since it was explained that way since Mass Effect 1 first came out.

Eh, I don't think when they did it mattered in the argument. I also don't think Krogan women were prevented from leaving the planet - most just chose not to, and weren't many confirmed infertile anyway (like you would know that you couldn't bear children). Nor do I think a female salarian would be stopped from going on an important mission outside the planet; yes, most stay planetside and send males to do their bidding, but we met the Delatrass. So I don't think that's really the biggest reason we never had female Krogan or Salarian companions.

I figured the reason why there were not female of the various races shown in the ME series early on was that they would need to design, create models and animations for the females that would probably need to be different than the males, and that besides this requiring more work and resources could also be objects of contention for them being too female or not female enough.

I think this is more likely to be it, but it is the problem of the Default Male. Though in ME, I guess for Quarian at least we have Default Female. I wish they had made Tali look more alien in the end; it would've solved some of these problems. The Asari, while they don't bother me, are the epitome of sexy alien and don't really solve the problem.

I disagree.

We have seen a Female Krogan and she was not sexy.

We have seen a Female Salarian and she was not sexy.

We have seen a Female Turian and she was not sexy.

We have seen a Female Rachni and she was not sexy.

Right, but none of those were made companions. From the beginning, the races that planned female companions were more human and/or sexy. I'm not saying that's necessarily Bioware consciously even deciding this, but I do hope it's rectified in future. I'd love even one of those companions in the new ME (not really Rachni).

Well if we consider this as alien all bets are off really. They don't necessarily conform to what earth bugs look like and act like.

But that is the kind of thing I would like to see more of. Female creature aliens that look like that, and not like an afterthought after having seen dozens of males of the species. That's the most important part. I love that the female Krogans and Salarians and Turians have been seen and have been as creature-looking as their male counterparts, but the next step is to have them in there right from the start, as natural a part of the world as the males, instead of two games later after much fan demand.

I agree with this.

The same goes for female dwarves and qunari. I can understand the qunari being limited in Origins (there were barely even any men other than Sten and maybe a merc here and there), but there really wasn't any good reason for the lack of female dwarves in Dragon Age 2, especially if they featured prominently in Origins (Branka, Hespith, Rica, Jarvia, potentially the Warden). Heck it wasn't until a comic was released that a female qunari was shown.

I loved how they showed the Dalatrass and Eve in Mass Effect 3. I understand character models and time constraints, but it does stink that it takes fan demand to show a female version of a race, especially if said race was never really human to begin with (the whole character model argument). Reminds me of Arcanum (which, by the way, I loved, but still) where female gnomes, dwarves, halflings, and half-ogres are either 'domesticated' or left out (but strange human, elven, half-elven, and lucky us, half-orc women are available). They pick the pretty or shapely ones to show (asari, quarians, elves) but not the very alien or different ones.

(And, as a reminder, its not a critique AGAINST the pretty/shapely/stereotypically beautiful alien/human/elf-babe, its the point that they are the ONLY ones shown where as male characters have the freedom of variety)

Though I do want to see more prominent female elves featured in the Dragon Age games and not just in the books/novels. They get love in the books (Briala, Fiona, etc...) but not so much in the games. Elves are just skinny, pointy eared, magically inclined, oppressed versions of humans in the DA world so they don't get the same excuses lol.

Vicious blood mage, could be one of two choices in a Samara/Morinth style setting (with her obviously as the Morinth). Or to go against tropes, she's actually a good guy that utilizes the darker forms of necromancy/magic

FemaleHalfElfPriest.jpg

Elven templar or chevalier, raised in a human culture and identifies with humans culturally, makes a great leading lady instead of the stock human female

Another version with more awesome armor. Could actually be an Arcane Warrior (uses magic to fuel her martial talents), has a unique skill tree dedicated to magical barriers and protection

Dalish healer-spirit mage, possibly undead or the result of a ritual gone awry

I don't know if it's that BioWare doesn't like non-human male Wardens/Inquisitors (or non-human females), I just think they tend to play the safe route since they're trying to appeal or market to a broad audience.

In KOTOR there was only one human (Bastila) and the others non-human (Mission the Twi'lek and Juhani the Cathar). In BG there was a mix, plenty of elves (Aerie, Jaheira, Viconia) and a halfling (Mazzy), and maybe a smattering of humans (Nalia, Shar-Teel, Skye, Imoen, and Imoen is debatable considering she's a Bhaalspawn). Plus in the Awakening DLC the two available female party members were a dwarf (Sigrun) and an elf (Velanna).

I surely wouldn't mind if DA4 had only one or no human female party members in their original campaign. Make the leading lady an elf, since they tend to be virtually accepted by the majority of fantasy fans, would have marketing appeal (everyone loves female elves), and few would take issue in having her as a romance. The other ladies can be qunari and dwarven. We see how humans interact with elves, qunari and dwarves, but we don't get as much insight on dwarf x elf, dwarf x qunari and elf x qunari relations, especially between females of those races outside the Warden/Inquisitor PC. The most I've seen was Sigrun x Velanna in minor dialogue, while you'll get quite a bit of male Elf/Dwarf/Qunari x female Elf/Dwarf (Varric/Fenris, Varric/Merrill, Oghren/Velanna, Oghren/Zevran, Oghren/Sten, Sten/Zevran). I know that's a minor thing, but still.
