^ Didn't they fix that? Maybe it's just me being lucky but for the past 2-3 days I could chat with both beta and non beta users and vice versa (I use the beta.) But then my alt+tab stopped working and origin started crashing more often at about the same time. Gotta love Origin, fix one problem and create 7 new ones in the process.  <_<

 

Ditto on the alt-tab, I thought it's just a random thing.

 

I had that alt-tab issue and a lot of issues with origin a while back. Then, I decided to disable origin in-game and everything started to work fine.

 

The current release and beta can talk to each other, at least for the moment. Chknwng and I were trying and failing to chat a few days ago though, before the release.

 

The Alt-Tab bug was fixed, until the current release when it came back. It's beed bug reported on the EA forums  more thna once. There is some kind of feature interaction going on with ME3, Origin in Game, and any overlays that are running, like Corertex or Fraps or whatever. It hits some Origin games and some are fine. Since it's a bug that depends on the way different pieces of software are functioning, and they are written by different teams who don't even know about the existence of other code(*), you can expect it to remain fücked for the foreseeable future.

 

(*) From the response to my bug report to Razer, the Cortex team have never heard of Origin in Game. Sigh.

That's pretty much why I disabled Origin-in-game in the first place. No matter how pretty it looks it is horrible. Not being able to record a game when you want to is a big no-no.

Well, clearly something has to go, and that's probably the best choice. I know that if it comes down to to Alt-Tab switching versus OiG, OiG is Going Down™.

I've discovered that disabling OiG on the latest beta prevents me from clicking on a lobby slot to invite someone, but I'm still able to alt tab and invite someone via my friends list.

Didn't wanna break you, but... It works with any gun and any power that has an animation. It is much easier to pull off if the RoF of the weapon is low and the animation length of the power long, though.

Also, it works with other kinds of animations at times, like dodge ones. Not consistently though, at least not for me.

Yeah I know, but I hope for this list to be some tried and true combos that are rock solid--and also combos that people would want to use (ie combat effective).

Reload hiding with the Hurricane? I want to see someone pull that off.

 

I was surprised too; it was with a Asari Valkyrie. You have to be very quick to hit warp as soon as you deplete the mag.

Yeah, I know it's possible with lucky timing, but no-one's gonna pull that off with any regularity.

I was hitting it like clockwork (insane DPS with incendiary BTW) but I could have had help from off-host lagginess.

The time window you need to hit with the Hurricane is precisely 0.1 seconds, so it seems hard to believe... I guess it could be done if you really get the rhythm down, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm a scrub when it comes to reload-hiding or even reload-canceling, but I found a combination by accident:

 

Batarian Brawler + Kishock.

 

I confused somehow the brawler with the sentinel and equipped him with the kishock.

Cooldowns where meh, but after the combination of charge kishock -> release shot -> biotic charge I had always a new harpoon in the chamber, so I was able to place a second arrow immediately and to falcon punch if necessary.

Male Quarian Infiltrator + Widow + Phasic

 

Cloak > Shoot > Area Scan

 

Think of it like a support build. You kill an infantry unit and highlight all the enemies in the area for your team, every 3 seconds.

 

 

Bonus style points for possibly-Quarian-inspired weapon on a Quarian.

Hurricane's reload is 1.5 seconds,with a minimum cancel time of 0.83 to be exact.I use the Hurricane pretty often and yes it's possible to do often,but it's really easy to f up your animation and have to do it over again if you miss the timing any.

I'm talking about reload hiding. ROF delay after the last shot before reload begins, during which you have to activate the power, is 0.1 seconds (ROF 600).

Again, any power with an animation longer than the (canceled) reload one can, and will :)

It doesn't matter how long it is. It can be 0.05 seconds, you just have to time it right.

Uhm. Maybe. But if it's shorter than the reload animation, you'll have to wait some time not being able to do anything but move, like when you're reloading. Even dodging in that situation will cause the reload to fail.

Sure, it's not optimal - but it still means you can cram a bit more action into the given time frame. :)

My favorite is Human Adept + Talon.  The time to empty a 4-shot Talon clip is right around the exact cooldown time for all the HA's powers, and the HA's powers will usually hide the Talon's reload.  Shockwave is a little iffy sometimes though.

 

Singularity -> Shoot x4 -> Shockwave for boom(s), hiding reload -> Shoot 4x -> Warp, hiding reload, which is detonated by exploding Singularity -> Shoot x4 -> Singularity, hiding reload -> etc.

 

If you get enemies in a choke point, this will absolutely destroy them.

Can someone tell me what the difference between hiding and cancelling is?  I think I have an idea but I might be missing something here.  An example or two would be great.

 

Reload cancelling has been a normal part of my gaming in several games over the years, but I have never heard of hiding.  I assume it has to do with emptying a clip and using a power while the gun is reloading, but I haven't tried this nor do I know the timing.
