What about a remastered edition for KotOR I and II? Aaryn?

I'm sure it would sell well, which could renew interest in creating KOTOR 3.

Great Idea! I'd happy part with my cash for a remastered KOTOR 1 and 2.

Absolutely. There really isn't a valid reason why this shouldn't be done as everybody loves Star Wars, it's one of BioWare's most successful games, and it would be introduced and revitalized for a new generation of gamers. On top of that the possibility of a KotOR III would be much more likely as there would be a greater demand for it. I'm just waiting for BioWare to confirm it's happening so that we can all benefit from what is arguably one of the greatest RPGs ever made.

I love JE as well, but it's even less likely than KotOR. The latter was at least a financial success that was Game of the Year. JE is more of a cult classic that underperformed.

I don't believe it's too unlikely. BioWare is owned by EA and EA has exclusive rights to make AAA Star Wars titles. BioWare also has SWTOR, so it's not like they aren't actively in the Star Wars business. Aaryn Flynn even said in the past there was definitely interest in doing a KotOR III at least.

I guess i should of been more clear, Kotor 2 i have a better chance of win the lottery, when the first one could happen, but that is just how i feel

Did this come before or after the comments on how SWTOR was supposedly ''Kotors 3,4,5,6,7, etc.'' ?

I'd buy a remastered KOTOR. I wouldn't buy a remastered ME trilogy. That's my take.

Disney owns the rights to both. Even though KotOR II wasn't developed by BioWare, Obsidian used their engine and characters to create the experience. BioWare already interpreted some of the actions of KotOR II in SWTOR, so they are more than capable of picking up the torch.
bioware don't own star wars. kotor 2 was developed by obsidian
Thank you for telling the obvious. You clearly did not read the OP. EA has exclusive rights to AAA Star Wars titles. BioWare is owned by EA. Yes, I'm aware Obsidian made KotOR II. Again, Disney owns the rights to KotOR and KotOR II. Those rights are in the hands of EA to make AAA games. Thus, BioWare has the discretion to remaster both games if they so choose, as KotOR II was a sequel to their game and LucasArts (no longer in existence) wanted BioWare to make KotOR II. The only reason BioWare didn't was because they wanted to develop Jade Empire instead.

After. Aaryn Flynn was being interviewed by Game Informer when they had a cover story about Dragon Age Inquisition. It was sometime last year. Game Informer asked the question and Aaryn said something along the lines that they'd love to do another KotOR game, but it wasn't planned at that point.
I'd buy a remastered KOTOR. I wouldn't buy a remastered ME trilogy. That's my take.
I'd definitely prefer KotOR to a remastered ME trilogy as the former is much older. I won't say I wouldn't buy a remastered ME trilogy, as it would depend what it would come with (all DLC being included is a given). If they enhance the visuals significantly and polish the experience, I might be interested.

No. Make new games and do not waste time on remakes especially on franchises that would have been better buried and forgotten 20+ years ago.
What? Are you criticizing Knights of the Old Republic or Star Wars? Or both? Either scenario is blasphemous either way, but you are certainly entitled to your opinion, no matter how ridiculous the statement is. All BioWare does is make new games. When was the last time they actually created a remastered experience? Without KotOR, BioWare wouldn't be where it is today. KotOR is the sole reason BioWare even gained a footing on console and gained international appeal with the gaming industry. Before then they were only well-known by the PC minority.

Visceral (Dead Space trilogy, Battlefield: Hardline) is working on a Star Wars game, and it has been speculated that they are using Star Wars 1313 as a basis for this brand new game. It's supposed to be an open world experience with a focus on engaging storytelling from the lead writer of the Uncharted franchise.

I haven't personally heard those rumors myself. I know that there was technically an "Imperial Commandos" video game that was supposed to be a sequel to Republic Commandos, but like many other projects at LucasArts, it was cancelled and never made it out of preliminary stages. I think Visceral would be perfect to continue the work of Star Wars 1313, because they have a lot of experience with third person shooters as well as creating amazing set pieces (some of the best in the industry). The addition of going open world as well as having a critically-acclaimed writer will go along way to truly making an amazing Star Wars experience. I'm hopeful that this game and Star Wars Battlefront will encourage EA to either remaster the KotOR games or convince BioWare to make a KotOR III.

KOTOR is Bioware. KOTOR 2 is Obsidian. I'm not even sure who owns the rights to these game now? Lucas Arts? Or Disney? As Disney bought the rights to Star Wars from George Lucas for like a gazillion dollars (hmm, maybe not that much, but wasn't the price in billions of dollars?). In order to have restored KOTOR 1 and KOTOR 2 lots of legal papers will have to get shuffled around...
It's probably less complicated than you think. The rights to make Star Wars movies have been purchased by Walt Disney, but that doesn't retroactively eliminate the previous deals made by Lucas. ![]()
BioWare is still making SWtOR, after all. Their licensing rights are still in place, and they are still permitted to sell KOTOR.
It's possible that a KOTOR remaster would be allowed without any new deals. I doubt that's true of KOTOR II, but I don't know what it would take to allow for it.

I believe KoTOR deserves a remake, not just a reworked version.

Disney has the legal rights to all things Star Wars, not just the films (except ANH with respect to distributing as Twentieth Century Fox has those rights). Disney, as I stated earlier, gave EA exclusive rights to make AAA Star Wars games, and I'm sure that would allow BioWare to have the capacity to remake a game they made previously, not to mention BioWare has an active relationship with Disney through SWTOR.
I believe KoTOR deserves a remake, not just a reworked version.
I agree completely. That's why I was suggesting the Frostbite 3 engine as well as potentially using DAI's gameplay mechanics to pull it off. How epic would it be to see lightsaber duels and the Force used all in next-gen with the macro/micro-destruction of Frostbite 3? Not to mention the possibility of an open world experience, the ideas are endless. It needs to happen.

These projects are generally given to external studios or used as a first project for a new one. Should such a project be successfull ot would only mean more money for the big projects. Should it tank, then that would be a probem.

It's worth noting that the PC port for Mass Effect was done by Demiurge Studios and the PS3 port done by Edge of Reality. BioWare only exclusively developed the Xbox 360 port, which was the original release. It's quite possible that someone else could do a remastered edition of KotOR, so I don't believe it's unreasonable or out of the realm of possibility.
