Tracer and Hanzo look so OP, they're my favorites.

So I went to go play TF2 and my server was talking about Overwatch.
Apparently, there will be no private servers, and you can not choose your class you just respawn as a different one when you die.
If it's all true, I'm not touching Overwatch.

I won't be surprised if this changes during development.

perhaps this is proof that there is no intelligent life in the universe due to constant gamma bursts..

I can see Blizzard sticking with the no private servers but uncontrolled character selection at respawn? That seems weird.

Rumors. That sounds like nonsense. Blizzard are experts at class balance and I'm sure they've shown just a fraction of gameplay. They start simple and grow complex. Your TF2 buddies hold 0 credibility for me.

That they made this instead of something better?

From what I understand they had to edit new things they added out of WoW arenas because they couldn't balance them.
Then again, I sense Blizzard bias involved so there's that.

One would think they wouldn't need to jump on the F2P bandwagon with all the money from WoW.

I tend to dislike games that have "watch" in their names.

They'll probably have it be a skin system instead of hats.

Are you being sarcastic here? As a starcraft and diablo player I've yet to see this expertise in action. Blizzard usually over buffs one class (a developer favorite) and leaves the rest to get destroyed in public games. Each patch just throws the "balance" in favor of another class.
My money is on Reaper being OP.

Saw the cinematic trailer, got REEEAAALLY sad it wasn't a movie. Still excited to play the game, though.

That's more true philosophically than in actuality these days. Up until around Cataclysm in WoW you could count on something like that but they broke their game entirely in MoP.
What's happened is they haven't had much character or storyline umph in decades so they hinge everything on being insanely perfect game-wise. The thing is they basically were doing things about as perfect as you get and then over-engineered it so the game exploded.
Now they've basically just thrown that out and gone back to 2006/2007 era WoW with their ability and class design. They've been stagnant in recent years.
I'm not entirely sure what will happen in the FPS genre, but as long as it's multiplayer people will just micro-analyze the game until they've determined class X has a .02% advantage in combat, everyone plays it, the cycle of nerf/debuff destruction etc etc. Maybe it will be fun but generally speaking I think they're lack of interest in developing laterally has resulted in over-taxing their ability to create admittedly often addicting gameplay systems. That and the fact that basically all their games are multiplayer which are pretty much impossible to balance (and which affects thing like TF2 also).
Plus Rob Pardo is gone, it seems like that could change things a bit as well.

They are minsiformed. Overwatch lets you select your charcater when you start the match and when you die. As such it is possible for your team to go full Winston (monkey) if they feel the situation calls for it.

I was more impressed with the second trailer. They did a good job of showing off the distinctions between characters in clever ways. The game's not quite my thing, but it looks like they're on the right track.
