Pretty sure I noticed at least twice where the counter reached zero and I didn't get any more actions today. What was the reason for that again?

You need 10 to be able to use them. I do not get why they are selling them in the denominations that they are.

I noticed that happening when the counter gets out of synch from the server. So you probably got the action a min or so before the counter hit zero because the counter was a min or more off and then it looked like nothing happened when the counter hit zero because it was counting down to the wrong time. Not sure what causes the counter to go out of synch.

So they are selling them in smaller amounts than what is usable? Well thanks for that one EA.

I just hope they if one decides to abort a playthough that the data recorded to the Keep is destroyed along with it. The last thing I want is a bad playthrough recording info to my keep.

I think the rationale is supposed to be, buy 10 get x free, and 4 is supposed to only be used to top you off when you are close to getting another 10....but that doesn't work conceptually when people buying dawn are unaware that you need 10 to use it.

Data is only saved to the Keep at the very beginning of the game and the very end. So if you haven't reached the ending then the only thing saved to the Keep is probably your character....and maybe some of the other stuff you set at the very beginning.

Ok, so just how do you get secrets? Other than trading half your prosperity for them that is. You can get trophies and viands from hunting but I haven't come across a card that would grant you a secret yet.

Secrets come from various cases and characters. For example, you can get secrets from trading a favor with the Bard.

How many times do you need to see "[Insert stat name here] is increasing..." before the total actually increases?
I've completed a lot of challenges, but the stat involved has only increased by 1...

Trading favors with a bard that is your lover, as well as quashing a rebellion on the Enlightenment card when Rumors of Revolution is at 100.
That said, I have yet to see a downside to having high Peril, Twilight, or RoR. That may come once I actually get a "detrimental card" the description mentions, though it seems to be a little rare, at least for me.

Cases give a ridiculous amount of secrets. As in if you complete all the cases successfully you will probably have enough secrets to get a good ending from the Divine.
There are three cases (that I am aware of), you get them from market days, you can identify them as they are the cards that say something to the effect of "Begins a story of..." Different cases have different requirements for completion.

I only ever had high peril, and the result was that I started to get a card on occasion which only had one possible event (the band leaders gathering). I've never gone above 50 or so, so I dunno if there is another one for 100ish. It wasn't horrible since you can boost prosperity (and increase peril) with that event, but it does decrease your odds of getting specific cards you want since there is one more card in the deck.

I sent that Carver guy, away, or had him killed, or something like that. I mean he was an imposter and all that.
And I've never even got a bard card to begin with.

I've been playing adventure games back when Infocom and Lone Wolf were new. In that time, I have never encountered a more tedious, mind numbingly awful game than I have with The Last Court.
It is simply impossible to give even a modicum of a care about the story or the characters within. The choices are uninspired, you will gain or lose points for the most arbitrary reasons, there is no humor, drama, suspense, intrigue. The Last Court gives a new meaning to the word dull.
Failbetter Games; Your name is well chosen. You couldn't fail better if you tried. The Last Court isn't worth five minutes, let alone any money you laughably expect to make from it.

No humor? Really? If nothing else, I find the Pig-Farmer's Accomplice quote to be humorous (in my sig). Actually there are a few other points I found humorous (like firing the original Counselor). As for the rest, you might want to at least try the cases in the game as those are the ongoing storylines. Currently you are just dealing with the random events for gathering clues, stats, and down time between cases.

If you truly find this game humorous, then you've never played a humorous adventure game. Play any adventure game with Steve Meretzky as the creator then come back and tell me game has humor.
The Last Court is devoid of everything that make an adventure game good.

That card isn't actually related to your peril level. The detrimental cards start at 75, and from the description you can get another at 100, though I only just got one for RoR at 75. That card forced me to lose either Prosperity, Dignity, Freedom, or Rulership, though I managed to lose enough with the Cheery Baron to make it disappear. You're not forced to use it, but it will take up a card slot until the situation is resolved somehow.

Your health needs to be pretty low before the option shows up, I think below 30.

No it was related to my peril level as the card (I think it was the bandit card) vanished from my hand one time when I got dropped my peril below 50 while I had it in my hand. I guess there are multiple levels of the detrimental cards and what I got was the mildest.

I appointed her as my councilor. The next time I got her card, the lover option was there. I think that might be a requirement, as the choice mentioned having spent time together at court.
Is that the only way? I've already appointed the Smiling Guildmistress as my counsellor and I don't want to make her upset by replacing her.
Also, why can't the Smiling Guildmistress become my lover? I like her more. ![]()

Yes it is the only way, and the Smiling Guildmistress can't become your lover because they didn't program her to be able to. Believe me, I wish I could have the Well-Read Pig Farmer as my char's lover, but we must go forth with the programming we have not that which we wish we had.
If you don't want to fire the Smiling Guildmistress (and keep in mind you can rehire her once you move the Abbess to your lover slot) then your only other option for the lover slot is the bard.
