So as pointed out, Vido in the leader of the Blue Suns and a nut case also. So will more people be saved by killing him at the refinery or letting him go. I doubt he will stop killing just because he got away. So I prefer to let Zaeed kill him, He says as much if you continue to talk with him after the mission.

Vedo is the primary target of the Zaeed loyalty mission. Getting intel on Vedo was only reason that Zaeed even took the contract. The entire purpose behind taking Shepard along for the contract is to determine if Zaeed can trust him/her or is this Shepard just another suit trying to play hero on the frontier. Can you see the mission through or will you turn your back when it matters most? Zaeed is testing you. If you choose to save the refinery over taking out Vedo, you prove that you can't be trusted. That you will put yourself and your delicate sensibilities over the success of the mission.

You don't have to play his loyalty at the beginning, I never do. His is always the last I play. If you want to pass the paragon dialogue check, make sure your paragon meter is atleast four bars and does not equal your renegade meter.

I despise the paragon check for this mission. Completely defeats the purpose of it. Considering his personality does anyone really think that Zaeed would ever be ok with letting Vedo get away??

No I don't but l chalk it up as letting the player feel as though they have superior influence. Prime example, Aria in the Omega DLC. Aria felt so OOC when she let's Oleg go.

Another example of something that shouldn't have been. There is no chance in hell Aria would have spared that goon no matter how much Shepard might have frowned on it. This guy lied to her, betrayed her, and stole her throne. There is no scenario where this f**ker doesn't die.

Naturally it would've helped greatly if Vido's fate had been continued in ME3 if spared. Instead, we're stuck with the ME2 setup. From what I gather of cut content/early plans scenario, Vido situation would've been dealt with, minimally maybe but still.

You get to punch him with a paragon dialogue in his quest... a lot of paragon stuff in ME2 are really renegade-like. If I were Shepard, I still would punch him too. He's being too reckless and stupid (so do a lot of renegade stuff). They're there for a rescue mission (seriously, read the journal) and his mind was consumed with revenge that he forget about the mission. You wanted someone who can keep their focus on the job, and not cop out at the last minute. He still came out alright tho..

This thread is a real eye opener. I always thought you had to leave Zaeed's loyalty mission until as late as possible if you want to take the paragon route. Now I find out I had it completely backwards. More you know, huh?

You act as if cajoling secondary characters to submit to Shepard's will and command is an unusual circumstance in the Mass Effect games.
He is the messiah and everyone can take a knee. Zaeed isn't a special snowflake.

Great post.
All must bow before Supreme Commander Shepherd. Savior of the Citadel. Messiah of the Milky Way. Submit and know peace.
