It's the cost vs benefit of the micros that bothers me. After playing the first bit, I would've played $5 for the game as a whole or a small amount for currency in-game if it had a good benefit. No worries, happy to pay. But the Dawn is way overpriced for what you get, so I'm just waiting it out.
The Last Court has microtransactions?

It's boring and it sucks. Spent 2 hours on a crappy playthrough and now am done. Unless it has a concrete consequence attached to DAI I don't see myself going back to it.
I agree, I found it snoozefest tbh.
Micro-transactions? They have to pay ME to play this.

Why. What makes you special.
Honestly the game plays better when you take breaks in between not obsessively try to do everything in a short amount of time and then complain when you are finished. You don't miss out on waiting as the cards do repeat. Once you get into the flow it gets a bit boring

Now that I finally got the hang of this and I've planned my moves I can't make them due to time LOL. Hopefully I remember them in 7 hours.

I also would have preferred being able to pay 5 bucks or so outright, and play as much as I want. This same model is why I dropped Heroes of Dragon Age like a hot potato. I'm very happy to pay full price for a game up front, but you try to nickel and dime me and use a timer and it just pisses me off. Anyway, I think I'll try to play Last Court once or twice a day (if I remember to watch the clock) until next Thursday when I can actually play DAI. It's all good. ![]()

I am enjoying the game so far in general but I do hate being forced to wait for actions. I tend to end up losing interest and it makes me feel like I'm a little kid again and my mom is telling me I only get an hour on the SNES. I would much rather pay a fixed amount upfront and not be on a timer. However, I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with the way they chose to do it, I just don't like it.
But I do think the way the purchasing of dawn works is scummy. The only thing I've seen in the game that actually lists how much dawn something costs is for purchasing the ability to skip to the next market day. It says that costs 10 dawn. You can also use dawn to refill your action points but I don't see anywhere that says how much dawn that uses (I found out after purchasing some that it also costs 10.) So everything costs 10 dawn. But when you go to purchase dawn, you can purchase it in amounts of 4, 10, 22, 45, and 100. If you buy 4, you can't actually use it for anything. If you buy anything other than 10 or 100, you end up with extra dawn that is completely useless. No where does it warn you of this.
So if you buy 4, realize you can't use it, you then have to buy two more sets of 4 to get an amount that's useable. And you still end up with 2 extra useless dawn that you payed for. You end up paying 51 cents extra compared to if you were to just buy 10 dawn. I know you don't have to buy any, but I still don't think it should be so misleading if you do want to.

You know what I hate the most? You click the wrong card and then OOPS you have to wait 15 minutes. Or pay, of course. Ugh, microtransaction hell.

That's part of the problem. There really isn't much here at all. It's a lot of waiting just to throw some dice.

I think the main draw is meant to be the "Market Day" events. The bits inbetween are just for grinding to handles those.

Or when you want someone's favor, but you don't know or remember exactly what you need to earn it so then you summon them only to find out you wasted a turn. Yeah, that's annoying.

Some of ya'll need to check the entitlement, it's not a crime to want to make money from your work and in this case you gain absolutely nothing but the ability to play faster. It's the epitome of optional.
There's a lot of things you can do that aren't crimes, but that doesn't necessarily make them morally right.
The way that these freemium games are structured robs their creators of certain authority they otherwise would have enjoyed. If we assume that one only has a right to the value of one's efforts, then they only have a right to the value of the time that was expended in the creation. I think that works for essentially all levels, where one only has a right either to the value of the time expended or some amount of the increase in total social value. That's probably why we balk when seeing CEOs making millions but their bottom rung employees are only making something close to minimum wage.
When your game begins to look more like a scam (see the South Park video), we tend to look on the creators of such a game with a more negative light whereas we have no problem with someone charging the going full market retail price for a game.

Umm.. your turn is only drawing out cards not picking them. You can pick as many cards as you want but you are limited to 3 cards per turn.

I was just playing the newly released browser game, The Last Court, through the Dragon Age Keep. When I ran out of "moves" (cards you take from a deck) there was a little prompt to "buy dawn" or to wait for my timer to reset my quota of actions. When I clicked on "buy dawn" to see what it was, a little window popped up for Origin to charge me something like $2.50 for some dawn (which moves time forward, I think so you can continue playing).
Was it stated anywhere that this little game would have microtransactions? If so, I must have missed it. I didn't realize it would be like Heroes of Dragon Age, I thought it was just a little something fun to tie the games together. Surprising....
IMHO $2.50 while not much is more than a microtransaction, which I class as anything under $1. Whilst a small amount $2.50 is a rip off merely to enable you to continue playing.

I think its a fine little game to spend time on until DAI gets here. Plus it gives me an actual reason to go to the Keep, my World State has been set since I was allowed into the closed beta so since then I haven't been back, now I have a reason to actually log on again.

Yeah, if only they'd fix Wynne's bug I'd be set, too. Sure hope they fix it before release!

Wish I could just pay for the damn game and be done with. Not paying for dawn. Hate having to wait to turn the page on what is essentially a comic book. Electronic (Con) Artists strikes again.

I am ok with games having micro transactions. I never use them but I don't generally find it an "outrage" but in this instance I think it is really bad because on the one hand you can only play so many hands at a time... on the other you have to be done in 7 days. Basically meaning if you are someone with a busy schedule or if you can't be near a computer ever time your turns refresh... you are at a huge disadvantage. Games shouldn't be designed with the framework in mind that those who play them have no life... feeding into a geek stereotype.
I play intense games like DA for 2-3 hours intensely each day... maybe more on the first few weekends and there may be the odd day where... shock horror, I go out for drinks with friends or spend time with family and I don't want to think about a game. The setup of Last Court basically makes that impossible.

As if EA would do something just for us to have some fun until DA:I comes out. Of course they're trying to milk players in every way possible, even in a text adventure...
