A question that was never really addressed in ME1 was how the Mako was supposed to get back on the Normandy. We saw it dropped out of the sky, but never saw it returned to the Normandy. So how is this new Mako supposed to get onto a planet and, perhaps more importantly, how is it supposed to get off the planet?
How is this new Mako supposed to land?

For some reason in ME1 I always assumed the Normandy landed to pick up the Mako.

It will be a James Bond style Mako. The wheels fold inward when the Mako needs to fly and when hovering above the ground, the wheels are locked in place for the Mako to be used on land. Just my speculation

If they do this I'll pre-order two copies of ME4 in appreciation of the sheer awesomeness.

I always thought the Mako had a rocket assisted Fulton system.

If the Normandy gets close enough (ie, Eden Prime) I don't see any reason the Mako can't hop high enough to get inside. The real question is why would they risk multi-billion credit, top secret, experimental frigate to get close enough to (often) hostile areas to pick up and ground team?

Reaper tech. After shepard went up the beam they incorporated beam technology into their ships.

Don't give BioWare any trollish ideas pal.

Well it's not like I suggested it should have it's own VI with harbingers voice and be as slow as the elevators. ![]()

The ship picks it up?
Assuming it isn't a high gravity world like Irune at least.

In Mass Effect, the Normandy was small enough to actually land on any planet. So that's what it would do; land, and they'd drive the Mako right into the vehicle/cargo bay. The Mako also had those tiny little jump jets that would let it 'hop' off the ground. Presumably, they could be used by a skilled driver to 'hop' into the cargo bay of a hovering Normandy or some other frigate-sized spaceship.
The SR2 Normandy is larger. It can't actually land on most planets without some kind of damage or the use of a docking cradle; Joker is pretty damn skilled to bring it in close enough to the ground to let people walk or jump onto the cargo bay door / ramp. That's why they used the shuttle most of the time, or the flight-capable Hammerhead.

So who took over for shep when it came time to get back on the Normandy? ![]()

Generally, no one had to. With the SR1 Normandy, she'd just drive right into the cargo bay. No jumping needed.
Or did you not realize why you had to have a large expanse of relatively flat terrain around you in order to get back to the SR1 Normandy, in Mass Effect?

Well, actually that was a joke about shep's skills as a driver, but nevermind.

calling it, harpoon gun (equipped with mass effect drive) + grappling hook + tow cable = Mako extraction unit.

I never did get that the Mako has thrusters that can land it on a planet, yet it can barely hop. Its not about thruster fuel being used on the way down, either - because of places like Virmire where we flew in under radar and got dropped.
I guess it boils down to making the thing not too overpowered. Can't have everyone running around OP, now can we?

Sorry if the post is long - I dunno how to do the spoiler tag thingy. These are just some fun Mako stuffs I found on you tube.
