All right few tips i've picked up after restarting 4 times
start remembering cards you will get certain ones over and over again. it becomes easier.
do not i repeat do not fall for the "sacrifice one skill" play through, the game will realise on of your skills is stuffed and give more of that card. then anything else.
always choose dark roads as your chief concern.
If your a scholar take the silent hunter as your bodyguard. two reasons
1st he boosts your sword play by 20
2nd soon you will get clues like what as you wait to get secrets and trophies for 20 clues he will boost your wood working which is your weakest stat and as you cant do anything with clues this is a great option.
If a card gives you a challenge that you're unlikely to win don't ignore it, many have no downside and even if you loose you will gain stats.
prosperity should be your raise and dump stat, by maintaining it around 50 you should be able to pop it up to 60-70 without losing other stats because of this (its turn consuming) you can buy bags of gold which you can in turn use to buy secrets trophies and the one starting with V.
balance your skills and don't be afraid to turn cards down. I've only used 22 turns on this play through so far as you can see none of my stats "main" stats are lower then 50 this is by design,
Hale 100
Rulership 40 Scholarship 50
Derring-Do 20 +20
Woods-wise 23
Cunning 30 +5
Dignity: Modest 52
Freedom: Liberally Governed 86
Prosperity: Comfortable 57
Peril: Peaceful roads 7
Twilight: The Dawn is close 21
Rumors of Revolution: No signs of sedition 17
Edit: I've since used another 3 turns and now dignity and prosperity are both above 60 while freedom is at 78.
