I just got my second market day and I'm worried that the Flames of Freedom option will screw my game over because my Rumors of Revolution is kinda high at the moment sitting at 66, due to picking a lot of choices near the start that got me more dignity.

Does it have things to do with that stat?

I had like 80 freedom and plenty of prosperity, and for it I get a huge rebellion and a bunch of time wasted trying to stop who's ever doing it. It exists to **** you over as far as I can see, I got no benefit from it. Seriously, I gained nothing, no favors from anyone, no trophies, no clues, no money, no nothing. Just everyone hating me for not being an absolute **** to everyone. Apparently the serfs will not stand for being treated well.

How many trophies, secrets, ect do you need to get the best ending?

High freedom & prosperity should lower rebellion values, IMO.

If the people aren't being oppressed and they've got food on the table...why are they disgruntled?

They probably want a spinning jenny or something. Well this isn't the industrial revolution ******, and I'm not James Hargreaves. So get back in that field you illiterate serf.

I'm playing as the scholar, and it seems to make managing a bit easier.  Hunts get better and better as you level up your woods-wise skill.  I can usually complete a hunt within using 3-4 turns now.  I'm not sure if the Huntress makes hunting easier, because most of hunting relies on Woods-Wise and not Derring-Do.

There's actually some benefit to getting your Peril, Twilight, and Rumors of Sedition up to 100, because it opens up an option to get a Trophy, Viand, or Secret respectively.

I'm sort of going for a well-rounded play.  I have Bard as my Lover, the Hunter as my Bodyguard, and Guildmistress as my Adviser... But I'm hoping to change that to Abbess as my Lover, Outlaw or Purveyor of Teas as my accomplice, Hunter as Bodyguard, and either the Baron or Guildmistress as Adviser... I'm not sure if rulership or derring-do is more important at this point.  I'm leaning towards Derring-Do.

I'm not finding much point in raising scholarship above the base 50 it starts at for the Scholar... so the Pig Farmer and Kindly Knight are pretty much useless to me.

I loved Fallen London and this gameplay coupled with DA is sort of amazing. I'm playing the scholar and have 4 days left, but I'm pretty well off I think (11 trophies, 10 viands, 6 secrets). I have filled my slots with the Dowager, the Pig Farmer, the Bard and the Hunter, mostly based on whom I liked rather than what they do.

I think it is actually better to stay away from hunting as a scholar and try to increase yout Dignity/Prosperity and then have those turned into goodies. The only time I went hunting was when it was required as part of a case and I found it tremendous fun TBH so I might indulge in it later on. The only thing I had trouble with were Darring-Do challanges, and that's mostly because of bad luck, because even at 60-70% success chance I failed like 5 times, so I spent a lot of royals nursing myself back to health.

You're probably right about playing the scholar... I have 6 days left and only have 1 secret and 3 trophies... You seem much better off... apparently you need like 30 to get a great ending.

Ok, how did you manage that?! I only have 3 trophies, 1 viand and 2 secrets and I only have 4 days left. You're well on your way to getting the best ending, while I'm unlikely to get the 15 needed to just not lose. What am I doing wrong?!

Btw, I'm playing a Huntress and I keep failing hunts. Infuriating.

The later Market Day Cards give out a lot of rewards apparently (I can't tell, I was stuck on Day 6 for a while).

What are your Derring-Do and Woods-wise scores ? With the base 50 the Huntress gets for Derring-Do and the additional 20 you get from having the Silent Hunter as Bodyguard or the Cheery Baron as Counsellor I get approximately 85% chance for the Derring-Do challenges during the hunt. I can complete a hunt in 3/4 actions now.

I usually take the extra days at the start of the hunt, and have always picked the wood-wise challenges.  Now my woods-wise is pretty high and have at least 50% chance of succeeding at them,  As a scholar, the Chantry Sisters always helps me close in. For the shack card, I always stop to ask which is an easy rulership challenge.  It usually take 3-4 actions to finish the hunt now, unless i get unlucky.

I have the Silent Hunter, Wayward Bard, Acerbic Dowager and am about to get the Purveyor of Teas. I also have 6 secrets, 3 trophies and 9 viands.
4 days left, but it'll be 3 later today.

Anybody has The Abbess as lover? Doesn't seem to have any difference with her as a counselor. How to get health?

I'm doing horribly right now, (high bad numbers, low good ones, have one or two penalty cards each round) but I'm not sure I could care. I have at least 5 of all the McGuffins, and I seem to be getting a ton of Secrets (I'm at 17 right now) from some (bugged?) case that isn't ending. As long as I can get 30 clues, I'm getting another secret. Will this gravy train come to a stop at any point? Should I just stop playing and peace out until the Divine comes? I also broke into the Chantry. Is there a reason to finish (or not) that quest?

How does this game work; I still have no idea

In the 'Gather Resources' card that's pinned at the bottom of the screen you can spend 1 bag of Royals + 1 action to get some health back. You can also go hunting and choose ' get provisions'. If your health goes below 30 you'll have a chance of drawing a card to heal yourself. You can also go into the Deepwoods and rest when you find the 'A Glade' card.

I heard you need 15 or so for a good ending, but at least 30 for the "best" ending.  Don't know how true it is or not.  As for the Chantry quest line, I made it to the Masked Andraste statue in the glade, but failed at the woods-wise challenge... I'm sure there's a substantial reward for finishing it.

Randomly: I've decided that my Huntress has a MAJOR, TERRIBLE crush on the Silent Hunter. Those midnight hunts...and the way the only words he'll speak are to swear himself to her service...

She's taken the Bard for a lover, but when he comes to her she closes her eyes and pretends the bedchamber is a forest glade. When he tries to speak, she puts two fingers on his lips.

30 McGuffins for the Best Ending??

That is... a lot of grinding. I have 9 secrets, 6 trophies and 6 viands, so... not even halfway there yet to a "Good" ending (assuming those numbers are correct).

I've only got 1 secret. Not ever sure when or where I got it. Carver's Impostor, I think. How do I get more?

Think I'm getting the hang of it. 4 Market Days left. His Dour Lordship as my Counsellor, Elegant Abbess as my Lover, Purveyor of Teas as my Accomplice, and Silent Hunter as my Bodyguard. Finished the Chantry quest and allowed her stay and found the merchants stolen cargo and gave it back to them. And all my stats are high where they need to be and low where it counts.  I have 12 of the Viands, Trophy, and Secrets together. I like it more now that I understand what I'm doing.

Edit:

As I understand it, Secrets count towards the good/best endings. So you have 21 McGuffins and only need 9 more for the "best" ending (several folks have also said that you can get a good ending with 15).

Oh, 30 McGuffins total... I thought they meant 30 of each.
