@SIduri: Wow, if i ever reset I'll make sure to bring in enough gifts to the Heartwood Festival
@LordParbr: I think the dryads that the game mentions are, like, a natural occurring version of what happened with the Lady of the Forest, it's also worth noting that the Shame describes that the area of Serault seems to have a deep connection to the more magical aspects of Thedas which would explain why all of that happens.
To be honest, I've kind of felt this too, *especially* regarding the Horned Knight. His whole flavor in the game seems very aligned with traditional Celtic folklore, the Sidhe court, the "fair folk" etc--like, he doesn't have human morality but he does abide by ancient codes of honor etc, he is immortal and perilous but can be munificent, etc.
This is all very standard for some fantasy settings but it is NOT typical for Dragon Age. In Thedas whenever you get trees walking and animals talking it can pretty much always be traced back to the influence of demons, either directly (e.g. sylvans are demon-possessed trees) or via the influence of blood magic (e.g. Zathrian's curse). Which is a big part of why I was so skeptical of the Horned Knight when he first appeared. In the Dragon Age world this kind of **** has to be explained by either spirits or demons, and given that spirits tend to be not-very-interested in humans, it's almost always demons.
The Failbetter game really seems to be positioning the Horned Knight as more of a traditionally Celtic, morally-neutral figure. Yeah, we can guess that
, but he doesn't really have the specific flavor that you would expect in the Dragon Age setting.
