The Last Court: Who Did You Pick?

With this game and it's slower refill and lack of obvious head to head element, I haven't been tempted. I did however restart a few times as I learned the mechanics. Right now I am reading the forums and watching soccer and might play some Fallen Enchantress. I am just glad that I don't feel like I have to check into the game to avoid falling behind. Also I can take the time to read the text rather than just plowing ahead.
If I get to the point where it's seems as though I have to build up resources as in ME3 to get a preferred final result then I will come back here to rant. If I accrue some small, semi-interesting benefit at some point in DA3, I would probably be content.

Choose Huntress, so far just let Morrigan in......... that probably won't bite me in the butt, will it? But it's MORRIGAN!

The energy-gating mechanic is so infuriating because it invalidates the entire point of a text-based RPG.
If I am going to play a text-based RPG, it is because I want to explore the story, explore the different areas. But all of the exploration options eat through your actions quickly. I had to burn almost 10 actions a day to figure out what was in the chantry. I burned through another 10 on a single hunt.
On the other hand, just sitting in the manor managing my court, I can easily increase prosperity, dignity, and freedom, and trade that for other things using a lot less actions. By making actions so precious, the game is encouraging me to be a shut-in.
I enjoy text adventure games that allow a lot of exploration, but this isn't really like that, or meant to be. It's about managing resources carefully as you make decisions, and actions are a resource too. And because they refresh over time, it requires a different approach than if you could just go out and kill stuff for gold for a few hours. I like the fact that most of the time you have to trade one benefit for another, or sacrifice something for a morally desirable outcome.
As for the game encouraging your character to be a shut-in - well, you're the ruler. It makes sense that you're spending most of your time at court, receiving guests and making decisions, rather than gallivanting about the countryside like one of those disreputable adventurer types. ![]()

I think the time to get actions back is a bit too long (compared to Fallen London ) , probably because there's way less content in the Last Court.
Anyway those kind of games are meh , from what I've gathered you have a few cool plotlines , and lots of same stuff in between.
So erf , I'm curious about some stuff and known characters , so I'll keep on .

What is the best approach for generating secrets?
Cases that show up during Market Days pretty much bleed secrets.

I picked the scholar cause I like to approach ruling my domain with a head on my shoulders and wit.

I kind of want to start over, but I've already spent all this time on THIS game... but it's not going so well because I had (have) no idea what I'm supposed to be doing.

Yeah...outside of meeting a handful of characters from the past games...its a realllly shallow experience that relies too heavily on RNG...and the mechanics behind it are baffling at times...

Things be looking up. Dignity is Magnificent. Prosperity is Affluent. Freedom is wretched but every time the plebs think about revolution I send in my Bodyguard handle it through 'friendly persuasion'.
I'm starting to like this.

Do you have the huntsman as a bodyguard? I got such swag when I sent him out that one time.

This is like Fallen London. So, you know, I love it.
Playing the Huntress. Haven't had much happen yet (besides meeting Carver; hi, Carver!), but it's exactly what I expected from a Failbetter game. And the writing is, as usual, gorgeous.

The huntress sounded like more fun, and since the name came before the character choice, her name is....Oscar. ![]()

Yup. Silent Hunter is a boss. As long as you got him as your bodyguard you practically never have to worry about revolution. He puts them down before they start...

Chose the Huntress. Finding it rather confusing. Have had one Market Day so far and I still don't have a bodyguard, lover or accomplice and the starting counselor.

I had to restart my huntress due to getting one card per action because of 0 freedom and 0 prosperity. I then started a scholar and my peril skyrocketed before the tutorial due to some really bad RNG.
Every time I start a new character, the RNG screws me over so hard I find it hard to find the will to continue.

It's just as well, I don't have time for it and I bet my laptop would struggle anyway. (Yeah, I know it isn't demanding at all, but the laptop is 11.)

If it wasn't for the microtransactions/cooldowns I'd be addicted to the game. It reminds me a bit of the mini-story games in King Arthur or maybe even Crusader KIngs 2 but with a lot more choices and complexity. If they doubled the action points or shortened the cooldown it wouldn't be so bad.

The Scholar. Glad they decided the male version should be the smart/learned one this time.
I'm having fun so far. Carver is chilling in my castle, Freedom is going through the roof and I'm about to hire the Silent Hunter as my bodyguard.

I really like this game so far, but the microtransactions and the waiting are quite annoying.
I would happily have payed a fixed amount to get to play this at my own pace, but I don't like to buy x number of dawns when I don't know how far they'll take me in the game. And I really don't like to have to wait 20 minutes to be able to perform a single action.
Other than that, my scholar is doing a pretty decent job. It would have been fun to see Serault in DA:I.

That only puts cards in the empty slots in your hand. I want to get rid of what I'm holding altogether.I think you should click on the deck again to change the cards in hand.
