You can successfully hunt with the scholar, though it also takes some luck. I brought down a hind on my second try.

I went huntress, and I think I'm doing well so far. I have three trophies, but that's it at the moment. I'm waiting for my turns to go back up now.
Also, where do you get "Rumours of a Bereskarn", if anyone has gotten that? ^-^
I started with Huntress but didn't really like it so I restarted as the Scholar. I don't really like it all that much. Alot of repetition. I did successfully hunt a boar last night and now I am waiting for the market thing to roll around before I go hunting again.
Market Days pass every 24 hours. It has nothing to do with how you play the game. The hours counting down during hunting are only about your hunting success.
So is it that the counter decreases by one at the start of your "market day" draw then?
Kind of cheating, but what were the checks based on? Cunning?
Pretty sure the difficult one for me (34% probability) was Scholarship.
EDIT - my Scholarship is 39, FYI.

From what I've discovered, you have to let certain "bad" factors reach 100 to unlock new options; like your Twilight, Peril, and Rumors levels. You can check and see what each option needs to unlock if you hover your cursor over the icons in the bottom right corner.
Hmm, sorry for bothering again but could someone pelase tell me how many royals you need to get the Kindly Knight as your counselor? And also, do I need any items to turn the Elegant Abbess into a lover? Thank you for your time

You need to get the Abbess as a councillor first (costs 8 sacks of gold?), then you need a high enough Dignity to move her from councillor to lover (and a cunning check maybe? Maybe a scholarship one).

It shows up as a Market Day event mid to late game.

As I recall, the counter goes down after you use a market day card, not at the start of the draw.

The check to get her as your lover is dignity.
So I'm wondering if anyone has been able to get a character other than the Abess to become their lover? I know the Bard is one, and though I need the cunning my Scholar sadly does not swing that way. I ask because I already have the Guildmistress as Councilor and I just don't want to waste the recourses I spent recruiting her, plus I prefer her Rulership bonus. I also have the Pig-Farmer and Outlaw, though neither of them seem to be able to be converted to Lover, though maybe I've just missed something.

Only two lovers in the game. Once you convert the Abbess to lover, you can rerecruit the Guildmistress. I know that does nothing to stop you from effectively wasting resources you already spent, but that is the only female lover options available atm.

In my opinion, from a purely gameplay perspective, the Bard is a better Lover. He gives cunning, which is generally more useful than scholarship especially for a Male character, plus he goes straight to lover, you don't need to waste a 'turn' converting him to councillor then switcher him over.

Scholarship is pretty damn good. Some of the hardest and rarest checks are Scholarship based. And the Abbess made them a lot easier. And there are two other companions that boost Cunning (Outlaw, Purveyor) aside from the Bard whereas Scholarship there's only one (Knight).

True, but as the Scholar the checks are pretty easy already. I actually do have the Abbess (because I prefer to romance women with my male characters) and scholarship checks are pretty much 100%, which is good. It's just a bit extra work to get her as a lover, and you have to do it before getting a different councilor. The cunning checks are usually pretty darn important though (breaking into the sealed church, and others)
I have an elfroot that I can consume to restore my health, but I don't see any option of where to use it?
I thought I might be able to when I hit health 0, but I just did that on a hunt and it didn't work. Maybe it's just a special option that will come up later? Has anyone gotten one and been able to use it?

You also get a Scholarship bonus from taking the Well-Read Pig Farmer as your Accomplice.
Damn...doing a favor for the Dashing Outlaw results in a massive hit in peril, dignity, and prosperity.
You lose over 30 points in prosperity, take a large hit in dignity, and peril shoots through the roof.

I did one. I'm stocking up on all three to get another favor. Hope she's worth it. She'd better do wonders for the Scholar's street-cred.
@DarkKnight: I'm pretty sure she's bugged, so you can't recruit her. Sorry.
How do you get more bags of Orlesian gold? I'm low on Health and I need to restore it before I go hunting again.

Actually the Dashing Outlaw is one of the easiest to get favors for, as Dignity and Prosperity are super easy to raise. The Purveyor of Tea takes 5 authority, which can take a while to get. The Abbess requires Bags of Gold which are kinda hard to get (but she only needs one). The Hunter takes Trophies, which you kinda want for the end game event (guessing since it hasn't been 7 days yet lol). Some of them even have checks on their Favor tasks, so you can fail and get some bad stuff.

Get Resources on the bottom. Then trade prosperity for the bags. You want a very, very high prosperity when you do it, that way you get more.

The Outlaw is bugged? Don't **** with me right now. I saw the icon to recruit her.

Several people have said that she leaves you as soon as you recruit her.
can the Huntress have the Elegant Abbess as a lover or is she gender gated meaning only lover option Huntress has is the drunk bard?
and if the Abbess can be the huntress's lover where is the option for this?
Scholar, having fun. I can play this 3 time a day. They will never get any money from me. Unless there is a unpleasant surprise at the end. Slowly getting it sort of figured out. Maybe.
