Are you guys not confident that Inquisition will make money or something? Because the annoyingly long wait times and reliance on microtransactions really ruin what would other wise be a fun little text based game to get us excited for DAI and hold us over. Dragon Age Journeys, which was a 2D flash game didn't even have wait times or microtransactions, so why does this game? Not many people are going to be willing to spend money on this game, most will just forget about it instead. If you guys must keep in the waiting and transactions, at least tone it down form 20 minutes to five minutes.
Why Does The Last Court Need Microtransactions?

So failbetter games can make some money.
I know how dare a business in this day and age make money. They should just provide their goods and services for free so they aren't money grubbing evil moustache twirlers.
I wonder if you know the sole duty of a business? That's to make decisions to better the business. Making fans happy does not equal profit. If you don't like how a business is providing a good or service don't play it. Speak with your wallet.

For the same reason free phone games do. Big deal. Play for a bit then go do something else. I admit I wish you got your points back a little faster, but oh well. It's not like you need this for Inquisition. Sure, it didn't have to have the microtransactions, but it didn't have to exist either. It's free.

Because I'm sure they weren't payed to make the actual game.

10 years ago no one would have dreamed of charging money for this. It's the ignorant millennials who have messed up the state of modern gaming.

Microtransactions are bad, but this game replenishes action points every 6 hours and some, so it's not that much.

Newsflash for the people complaining about the Microtransactions (MS). You DON'T have to make those transactions. I know it is hard for some people in this day and age to have a bit of patience, but that is all it takes when you run out of Draw. Just wait 20 minutes and you'll have some more.
I never understand why people moan about MS like this when there are alternative means to getting the resource. Like the people who moaned about the MS in ME3 MP even though all they needed to do to get the creds that the people who used MS to get is to simply keep on playing the game.

10 years ago the Freemium model didn't exist, and we'd have paid full price to even be allowd access to this game. Now we can play it for free, and if we like it and decide we want to play more of it, we invest some money.
It's the better model for this type of browser-based game.

I generally prefer to pay full price. I also generally like supporting innovative studios like Failbetter, but the "freemium"/microtransactions model is utterly obnoxious. I actually really like The Last Court, and if they'd released a demo of sorts with, say, 10 free actions to get a feel for the story I would most likely have paid for full access. As it is, I refuse to support such an irritating business model and they'll get nothing.
That said, they've almost certainly run calculations and decided they'll get more money from many people paying microtransactions than from some people (like me) paying for a full-price game, so good luck to them. I hope they make piles of cash to continue making fun and interesting games.

20 minutes of waiting, not a big deal, but use up all of your action points, you're waiting a little over 6 hours or close to 6 hours. So, it's either pay for MS, or don't pay and wait. It's like fishing in my case.

You don't have to pay. Failbetter have it in their games.
You can wait 6 hours
Would you rather pay a monthly sub instead?

It was actually a good amount of time for me to run through 20 actions, but maybe that's because I was enjoying reading the cards. I rather liked the excuse to take a break and do something productive and then when I came back to my computer, it was like having a reward for doing the dishes.
I can understand the frustration, but if you don't like it, don't pay for it. Simple as that. Text based RPGs aren't in everyone's boathouse.

You guys just have too much free time. I don't mind having to wait 6 hours. So what? I'm doing other stuff during these 6 hours anyway.

Remember how Journeys was split into three parts?
Remember how the second and third parts were never released?

The Southpark clip hits the nail on the head, as they usually do. It's a god-awful way to play a game, and I don't support it at all. I've NEVER and will never pay for this kind of garbage. But enough lemmings are willing to fork over money for exactly what was free 10 years ago, and they try tell everyone it's fine. New generation of gamers...

Wait, what? Where exactly you see those people willing to pay them? I haven't seen any around here. The point, is you never ever need to pay them to be able to enjoy the game. At all. I've been playing Fallen London for quite some time and I've never spend anything. And I've never felt like I need to. Also, would you be so kind and point us to the exactly same game that was free 10 years ago?

Pfft, I think you should reevaluate your definition. They were commissioned by bioware, payed, and already profited. Freemium just means they keep getting paid for it.

And you think Bioware would have paid them money to make a game where there is zero opportunity for Bioware to make money? ![]()
