This is the same model every other Failbetter game runs on. Calm down.
Exactly. You could say it's EA, but Failbetter did this with Fallen London as well. It's also completely optional.

And you think Bioware would have paid them money to make a game where there is zero opportunity for Bioware to make money?
**Bioware is getting the microtransactions. ![]()
I guess a Freemium model is FailingBetter. I'll hold out for the FailBest model of gaming.

Technically it's EA as you are buying them via origin

You dont have to use the dawn at all. You can simply play throughout the day. How do you want it to be ? Ad supported?

It honestly doesn't matter who (Bioware is a part of EA now) , and that wasn't the point. ![]()
The way I see microtransactions is, if you don't like it, don't play it. I won't play subscription based games for the same reasons and those have been around longer than this type of game.
Or just dont use them. Playing the game is better without dawn
Because the Keep is for free, and not associated with the actual game coming out? Don't be such a poor sport about it. They're giving you something that you can very well play for free, but these people need to make a living too. You know, because they have bills to pay and families to feed. Don't be so selfish.

Ad supported would be good, I can banish nearly any ad so I never have to see them at all.
Hey everyone, just want to clear up some confusion here:
1. Playing The Last Court is completely optional, and will not affect anything in Inquisition.
2. Using Dawn in the game is also completely optional. You will not miss out on any content if you don't purchase Dawn.
3. The game ends in 7 days if you do not use Dawn to speed up time. It does not continue longer than that, as each market day happens every 24 hours (real-time).
4. All of Failbetter's games come with the option of purchasing in-game currency to speed up time or replenish actions, The Last Court is no different in this regard.
Hope that helps, I'll be around to answer questions here and there regarding The Last Court since I've played it a few times already ![]()
This game isn't even worth $2...so yeah everyone is who is all "HOW DARE THEY MAKE MONEY"...they can make money, but let's be honest about what it is worth. I've created text based games, they aren't difficult. There is no reason to be paying to play the game. 7 days to complete the thing? Why do we need to be blocked from completing it? I'm much more likely to say screw it and not play it at all. I'm pretty disappointed at some of the sexism too. That the male character is by default a better ruler, they literally tell you that. That pretty much makes me want to go, yeah no. Aside from all of that why do I keep getting the SAME cards over and over again? That's just lazy.

Except we have to wait days to actually finish the story in which I could probably finish in a day at my leisure. I'm sure some people have all day to play every day, but I don't. I'd rather be able to finish it over the course of the weekend before I have to return to my daily grind in which I have very little time to mess around with it. So it pressures me to pay for something that isn't even worth much in the first place just so I can play the dang thing. This is pure money grabbing. I already paid for DAI why can't I get this as a bonus? **** if they just want a few bucks for the server costs I'd rather do that then be blocked from completing it on my own time frame.

Waite didn't bioware post it would have at least one consequence for inquisition or have i missed read something ?
To my knowledge, we haven't communicated that The Last Court would have an effect on Inquisition. It could just be misinformation that's out there.

It's like reading a book. You read it for awhile but then have to put it down because you have things to do.
You can do everything for 6 hours in about 5 minuites

I've seen a bunch of nonsense lately but you, you'd get a prize if I had one to give. Sexism? Really? He is more suited for the matters of the court, because he is more educated but that doesn't make him a better ruler. It just gives him different options. Particularly in Orlais where nobles with better fighting skills tend to outlast the ones with bigger libraries.

Yes, imagine a man being as good - or even better - at something than a woman! That can't be right. We all know men are drooling idiots who are no good at anything. They should have given the woman every advantage possible and let the man slip on a banana peel and die right there on the first panel.
Wait, wait. So if we can't finish the game in 7 days, that's an automatic loss? That seems harsh.
The Scholar has higher Rulership because he's spent more time hanging about at the court and in the library. Meanwhile, the Huntress was off hunting things and having fencing lessons and is better at fighting as a result. I don't consider 'this female character is better at killing things than that male character' a particularly sexist premise.

Define finish, as technically the game only finishes after you run through all the market days (in theory you could probably make the game take longer than a week by not triggering a market day on a day when you don't have time to play). But yes, if you don't have enough items to get a bare minimum approval from the Divine (game says 15 items) by your last market day then yeah you are not able to get a good ending.

HAHA
"Put a book down."

Wait, what?
I started the game yesterday, only got so far - does that mean I only have 7 REAL LIFE days before that game ends regardless?
So if I want to play the game, I have to play a little each day for a week? If I'm busy one evening, I've missed part of the game? If I'm busy all week and come back 7 days later, the game I started is over, and I can't continue with it? Is that right?

It is based on market days, and I am assuming market days only go down one at a time while you are playing. If my assumption is correct then you can come back after seven days (unless you only had one market day left before you took a week off).

That was my initial assumption too, but that threw me off a little, so I've asked for clarification.
