Im from europe and I would like to play as soon possible. I read that BF4 gamers used VPN on Origin to get a headstart and I will try that too. I can preload the game on 17th and Im allowed to play the game 20th. Which VPN in which country should I use to start as early as possible? Is it legal?
Is it allowed to use VPN to play earlier?

I dont see why or how this would be illegal or punishable. But if you really don't know if it IS against the rules, then isn't it better not to know? Because then you can plead to ignorance / not knowing - if it IS against any rules, and be able to defend the attempt honestly with a pure conscience ![]()

Korean VPN.
About legality check this post and the images in it:

Looks like it is leagal, just not suported. So if something goes wrong EA techs won't help you.
On the other hand, using VPN to buy the game cheaper from another country is against the TOS and is banable.

When can I start playing withthe korean vpn?

Imho EAs official stance is that it's unseemly to do that and shame on you, but you won't get banned or anything if you do.
Note that only applies to unlocking the game early via VPN. If you use VPN to connect to a different regional store to purchase a game cheaper, the issue might be different and not in your favour.

On the 17th
imho this only shows that different release dates are pointless.

Yeah different release dates are utterly useless and probably even harmful in our connected world. People who have to wait several days probably download a pirated version and cancel their preorder.
One would think living in 2014 would mean the world has come a long way for the better, but seemingly not ![]()

EA should really consider to release their games at the same time worldwide. Different release dates are utterly useless.
Well, they aren't that useless. Different countries have different holidays, etc. pp. that make a significant impact on how products sell. Releasing something after a holiday is bad, releasing something during a holiday is stupid and all that.
I do concur however that digital releases should be simultanous, so people can play the game at their earliest convinience if they have the time for it. Would also be a great marketing strategy to promote digital distribution if say EA's Origin releases its games simultanous instead of stacked.

I can't believe that ten years after the simultaneous worldwide release of Half-Life 2, we are still in an age where retail release dates are king.
Yes, 2 or 3 days is nothing in the grand scheme, but there is absolutely no reed for it. Time to tell retail to get bent.

So it really is just an out-dated thing? Its not really any legal or other factors involved in publishers allowing same-time release digitally?

Wouldnt that lead to more digital sales and more $$$$$ for EA?
I think the retail market is the reason why we cant play at the same time. Not holidays.

I don't recall that happening as I remember using a VPN for ME3 and I started playing at the earliest opportunity despite being in Ireland at the time.

good news, plus im also seeing the changed release when i use a vpn to log into origin, lets hope we can take advantage of said change, without any patching/blocking or silliness of that nature going on.

There is no law or other regulations that say things have to release then or there, no.

I think the retail market is the reason why we cant play at the same time. Not holidays.
Holidays are one of the big reasons why retail market has their region specific release dates. Different holidays mean different release sweetspots.
And yes, I'm quite certain that anyone who goes out of his way to uniform releases, even if just digital ones, would see some increase in profits, which is why I'm puzzled that no big name business in the gaming industry has done it yet. There are some small/independent businesses that do it, but the big names don't for whatever reasons.
