I admit, I loved the Asari for their look at first but then when I read more about them I...
Well let's just stop here & enjoy these amazing arts:

I'm kinda conflicted about posting here. I want their role greatly diminished in next Mass Effect, they are my least favorite race
Still, they are a part of the universe, so they should be there

(...there was some speculation a few months ago based on a rumored private fan panel at PAX where the participants were shown a lineup of the series' main races, and asked fans to pick two if they had to get rid of them: most picked Quarians and Krogans).
Fans like this make me sad. Remove two of the most interesting and unique races in Mass Effect and leave blue space sex chicks...

Amen to that.

Right, because sex appeal is all there is to asari...
If I had a penny for every time I heard that... well, I may not have been rich per se, but damn, if I wouldn't have a lot of money.

There is anything wrong with players appreciating that certain Asari characters are attractive, that's one reason why Bioware created them after all.
But they also have a lot of cool lore and I think the writers did a pretty good job with creating their culture. I honestly think that they are the most fleshed out race in the series. I'd say these fans simply didn't reduce them to blue space sex chicks.

Well, tell me something unique about the asari that doesn't involve melding with the others (sex, generally speaking) and isn't present in other species?
Edit: Sorry if I come too angry, just the notion of removing the quarians and krogans is baffling for me. I agree that the asari are the most fleshed-out race in the trilogy, they are simply not appealing to me in any sense. Javik's revelations made them even less appealing for me

So we're supposed to ignore the one unique characteristic of a race that makes them unique?
Also, remind me, how much of asari characters are presented in overly sexualized way? The nameless asari dancers in Chora's den in first game and later in Afterlife in second game? On top of this, you're conveniently ignoring all the named and unnamed characters that are shown to live perfectly normal lives, with obligations and professions that have nothing to do with sex whatsoever.

I'm not saying that every asari is presented as overly sexualized. Just that the unique characteristic of that race is sex. Asari maidens spend years wandering the galaxy and many of them work as strippers.
About named characters, how about Sha'ira, her greeter (forgot the name), Benezia, Samara and Morinth? I don't think you'd argue that the majority of the asari we see are presented in a way that emphasizes their sexuality. It's a part of their culture.
All that appeals to the straight male audience which seems to be the majority of the players. My experience tells me that many players don't consider deep lore or anything when making such choices. When the beautiful asari are present they forget about krogans with tertiary organs, genophage, nuking themselves and fighting thresher maws for initiation as well as forming one of the biggest mercenary bands out there and nearly wiping out the galaxy. And they forget the quarians who created the geth and were forced into exile which ruined their immune systems forcing them to use suits. The race that can't even eat the same food as humans.

If they're going to be in the next game and its a sequel, I like for them to say 'embrace Javik', instead of the 'embrace eternity' crap and to say 'by the Prothean' instead of 'by the Goddess'.

Yep.
That revelation should put a massive dent in their egotism.

A lot of people (38%) wiped the quarians out in ME3...it isn't exactly surprising that many fans would cut a race which wouldn't appear in their game anyway. Not to mention that their big conflict is solved even if you sided with them on Rannoch. It's safe to assume Bioware will diminish their role in the next game (unless they canonize Shepards story). I have no doubt that the krogan will be back in some form, we even saw one (with some weird horn) in the E3 teaser trailer (I like the krogan, they are my second favorite race).

I think so too (though it saddens me, they are my favorite race).
I think no race should be removed from the universe (well, except the geth, which can be done regardless of ending choice, just make them upload themselves somewhere remote where we never go).

Why do we have to arbitrarily get rid of any of the different species? That diversity is a big part of why I love the MEU.

Sex sells. What's so weird about asari making good use of it? That's called playing to your strengths. Besides, Naira(I think that's the Consort's greeter name, not sure though) tells you Sha'ira is many things to many people... a listening ear, a poet, a companion(mind you, she doesn't say sexual)... forgive me, but I'm guessing you're seeing a little bit of what you want to see there.
The most often mentioned attribute of the quarians is their bum-bum. Tali's most recognized feature are her hips. The Valley Quarian girl is obviously spending her time whoring around the galaxy and everybody is ok with that. Why it is bad if asari maidens spend a good time of their youth dancing away at bars? I'll be frank... I envy them. Because they live thousand years, they can afford that. I'll be dead in another few decades, I can't do something like that.
Drell were developed as fanservice for the women. I believe Bioware is on record for saying that. Their most prominent member is a deep voiced assassin seeking atonement from a troubled past that, conveniently, has a disease that makes him walk around barechested. Yet, I've yet to see one complaint about obvious fanservice.
And yes, asari appeal to straight young white males. From my experience, a lot of females like them as well, be it for their sexualized nature or simply because the way they are presented. And to my experience, if a guy is playing a game to see some virtual boobies(or what have you), he's not gonna hold on to Mass Effect for long.

10 bucks says BioWare will just retcon it, and bring back the Quarians, Geth, Krogan, and even Rachni.

Wait, so "reliving every tension point in your body" said in that voice is not sexualized? And the way Sha'ira moves after calling you up?
Of all the quarians we see only one is "spending her time whoring around the galaxy". How many asari are doing that?
If I were to remove two races I'd remove the drell and the geth.
I'm not saying that they are playing for some virtual boobies. I'm saying that if forced to choose between virtual boobies and 100 pound war machine they will choose boobies.

Once again, I'm saying sex isn't everything Sha'ira sells. It may be her biggest export(it may not, we don't see enough to claim one way or other for sure), but certainly not the only one. I'm seeing her as ME equivalent of geisha.
So wait, you're equaling dancing with sex? Because I certainly haven't seen any of those dancers doing anything other than... dancing.
Well yeah, that's just common sense.

Where did I say anything like that? I don't think you'd argue that a lot less quarians practice casual sex with strangers than the asari.
I would choose the war machine or a gifted engineer. And it makes me sad that many people won't. That's what my original post was about.
