Since i was watching videos and reading articles about DAI, i was looking for something similar to a talent calculator cause i dont have access to the game and i wish to know more but there is nothing yet xD

Anyone knows which is the max level in the game, or if we will have one talent point every level until that?

I hope some of the owners of the early access or reviewers create a calculator to mess around with the skills or even BioWare in the main web, it would be awesome and maybe (and this i guess it wont happen) a game database like wowhead is for the WoW for example.. Nobody will have more data about the game than BW jaja

I need to kill time until release with something

If I remember correctly the Dev's said the soft cap is 30.

and being a Human you start with an additional skill point.

so would that mean Humans get 31 skill points?

I think you start with a couple skills in your chosen class already unlocked too. Possibly a couple unlocked when you choose a specialisation too. It's also likely there are other ways to earn Ability Points besides levelling up.

You start with 2 + 1 per level up to a soft-cap of 25-30 = 26-31 ability points. +1 bonus if human. There's an Inquisition perk that grants another. It's possible that you will gain others from plot events or items, but no guarantee.

I'd assume roughly 26 or so when planning a build. Others being bonuses. Trees have 14-12 nodes (4-5 actives + upgrades, 4 passives). Specs seem to have 11 or so (3 actives + upgrades, 4 passives, 1 Focus).

yeah, as i was watching in many videos, you start with 2 class bassed skills and every level grants 1 perk point but i didnt watch any high level video which is normal. I hope there will be a talent calculator with max points to conspire about..

anyway, is there any spell/skill combo like DAO's storm of the century and others?

Cross-Class combos are returning but not spell combos (Storm of the Century).

For the MP the level cap is 20. You start at level 1 with 2 skills.

I would especially love to see a talent calculator for all the 12 MP characters. Every character has two unique trees. The only possibility to respecc is to level up to 20 and promote the character.

So a tool to develop good builds would be appreciated.

I am sure the skills have a soft cap from my understating from watching the twitch streams you will continue to level as long as you get EXP but I am sure the game will be fairly easy at 30. Also I don't know about others I hope they make a enemy harder then the final boss like have to do most of the game to be able to beat one guy it's typically people like me who like super hard bosses in the game it feels awesome when you beat a secret boss. Like in Bg2 the hardest monster was at the bottom of a temple forget the name of it I fought it and took me so many trys to beat it.

Multiplayer cap is 20. SP has a 'soft cap': Because there is no level scaling, the XP you get diminishes as you become higher than the enemies around you. Eventually you cease to gain XP at all. This will probably happen close to level 30 or so.

It'll be interesting to see if the xp decrease affects quest xp too. If not, one could grind oneself to the soft cap and then complete all optional quests. Is there any info on that issue?

Yep, that is what i mean, i guess there wont be any way to respec in SP and you have to reach level 20 and promote the char to start a new build, so i wouldnt like to screw up in the first levels with things i wont need/use at higher levels

about the xp in quests, i think they will be affected by the scaling system, or it would be weird to watch gameplays of level 50 chars rushing the game in nightmare xD

That's a good point. In the Twitch stream they only mentioned decreasing XP for enemies.

The Inquisition perk category has a perk that gives you an extra ability point, but you have to spend five perks to unlock it.

The xp for killing enemies is soft capped at 30, which means you stop earning xp from combat once you hit 30. There's a perk in the Secrets category called Enhanced Studies, which provides +50% xp for researching enemy types, which you do by bringing back certain drops (e.g. ram's horn) to the Inquisition. The bonus from the perk is retroactive, so presumably you could wait til level 30 then get the perk.

so, if its soft capped at 30, we have at least 30 points (+1 if you are human), and assuming we will keep leveling through other ways, we could have 3 complete perk trees at least

Don't forget about bonus talent points.

I think we saw one of those as an inquisition perk? Or they could be unlocked by plot progression, a la Origins how you got an extra when you finished certain story arcs. And of course there could be an extra tome or two to acquire from a deal with a demon or something like is tradition.

I'd probably put the very maximum amount of points possible somewhere around 36.

You can respec there's a potion I believe that allows you to respec any and all of your characters. I know in the twitch streams Cameron respec'ed Sara to dual-wielding from archer.

It's possible that you'll be able to raise it higher with DLC as well.

The soft cap is level 30, and Bioware devs said most people will reach somewhere between 25 - 30. You start off with 2 skill points at level 1. There are additional skill points such as humans start with an additional +1, one of the Inquisition Perks gives +1 skill point; it's also probable that there will be quests or secret tomes that reward a skill point.

I'd also love to see a skill calculator  :P

There are consumable accessories which give an additional ability points. I've seen one for Cole in one of the streams so there are probably comparable amounts for all companions and maybe some for the Inquisitor as well. So count on having more than your levels.

i hope BW will give some info about the perk points cap (if we get all, consumables, max level, etc) and anyone who have pre-access creates a web or something with a perk calculator :D

Devs said level cap is 30, but if you've watched the streams, many side objectives and optional bosses(arcane horror in chateau, dragon, freeman commander) drop one use consumable amulets that give a single ability point on use. So potentially over an entire playthrough you could gain a lot more than just 3 additional points. I imagine if you wanted you could nearly double the points available to a single character. After all, that's 3 of those amulets in a tiny fraction of one of the 5 major exploration zones, and who knows how many smaller ones.

Does anybody know if respec potions will be available early in the game (maybe in the Hinterlands ?) ? I don't like the first two abilities you get with mage inquisitor and Solas.
