Acolyte & CSMG all the way, so you have both ways to deal with shields/barrier and armor; on Cabal I prefer Hurricane & Venom though, I count her as a Biotic.

CSMG is fantastic.
Hurricane is definitely 'better' and is OP, but I never liked the hurricane much.
Tempest would be my second pick after the CSMG. Hornet, locust and GPSMG are decent but I like them only on certain characters or with specific gear.

CSMG is fantastic.
That's only true when it's at high level. Mine has been stuck at II for ages, and it still sucks. A Tempest X is way better than a CSMG II.

As TheBunz stated, pistols are actually a better choice for Biotics due to the Commando Package. +12% Damage to both Pistols and Biotics. Sure, many may prefer things like the Geth Scanner and the like, but if you're looking for raw damage output, the Commando Package is wonderful for a biotic. Likewise, SMGs and Tech classes go together like bread and butter for that very reason.
If you don't care about that and would rather use a Geth Scanner or something similar, then yeah, Hurricane for a close/medium range kit and CSMG for a medium-long range kit.
Commando package only makes sense if you use a biotic that actually does biotic POWER damage (e.g. Huntress, Krolord->the melee/biotic dmg gear is even better here). If you just detonate your biotics it's pretty much useless, since the bonus doesn't factor into the explosion damage.

Me, I'm very happy to finally have both BPP & CSMG for when I want more dps out of SMGs, thanks to maxed manifest, instead of always having to go the Hurricane route before for this despite my Hurricane being at level 4 for the longest time. But even a level 1 that Crutchcane was such a beast.
But before I used to use all the weaker SMGs except the Shuriken all the time. My fave out of those other ones were the Locust & Temptest. Hornet was there too as my fave even, but I started to fall out of love with the Hornet once I started falling in love with the Temptest. For the Geth SMG I like to sometimes use both Heat Sinks on it and just have one never ending lazer stream for one of my Geth kits (usually Soldier).
Out of just CSMG & BPP, I use CSMG for power based classes and Bloodpack for weapon focused classes with some sort of accuracy boost (usually hunter mode, but once In a blue moon a scope or no scope for a more in your face play style might do too). The Bloodpack really is a nice face of fresh air for the SMG class too. Glad it got added.

Not really relevant on the Fury (unless you're doing a DC spec) as 90% of your damage comes from BEs rather than the biotics themselves and, as far as I'm aware power bonuses have no effect on BEs... run at stuff, prime with AF, Throw to detonate, repeat. Use Hurricane ... Cryo Ammo works well (weirdly).
So
- on the Fury, Hurricane.
- on the the VolDept or (power focused) ColDept, CSMG
- on just about anything else, shotguns, heavy pistols or even the Carrier on the Justicar might be better choices than an SMG.
Just my tuppence worth based on my playstyle - ymmv.

This is very true. But it's also worth noting that powers strike on their own without ONLY triggering the BE. For example, a Warp+Shockwave combo may have killer BEs, but the +12% bonus applies to the hits of both the warp and the shockwave, which is better than not having that extra output (Unless, say, you're going full shield regen Krogan Shaman or some kind of other use of your gear bonus.) Especially on something like the Smashdept.
The Fury, however, is indeed a perfect example to when it's basically a moot point.

A 12% bonus is pretty negligible though, to both pistols and biotic powers. You can throw on a power mod on your SMG and take a power amp for armour and put warp ammo on your weapon and get far, far more noticeable outcomes than you would with the Commando Package. A biotic with the CSMG and warp ammo just destroys armour, for example, in a way no pistol (Arc Pistol and maybe Eagle aside) can compare to.

Depends on whether you can handle the recoil and still land consistent headshots. Hurricane is one of the best weapons in the game if you can take the recoil and as long as you set it up to deal with armor mitigation. CSMG can be better if you can't land shots on the head with the Hurricane though.

It depends on playstyle and skillset, I think, as well as how used to them you are.
The CSMG is easier to use by leaps and bounds. The nature of it mixes very well with the cooldowns of a lot of kits, and I'd argue it's kind of overpowered, damage-wise (given its other benefits.) The only real drawback is that you lose the use of one weapon mod slot to the magazine mod.
At closer ranges, and used effectively, the Hurricane will do more damage. It also has the benefit of the absurd "slap a ULM on it and it has no effect on cooldowns," trick, which is very helpful for casters.
At this point, I'm shifting more towards the CSMG on my casters (especially the ones who don't use a pistol as their primary.) Mostly, it's because it's a lot easier to use.

Actually it doesn't make a lot of sense even on a Huntress. She deals so much damage with her powers because she has huge bo... uh, I mean power damage bonuses from her TC, so the diminishing returns she'd get from the Commando Package would be really diminished. That +12% would, in reality, add about 3% to her total power damage output. If pistols are better than SMGs on her, it's not the Commando Package that makes that so.
Besides, she should be using Claymore anyway.

Maybe she should but the Krogan always get angry when the blue ones grab their gear and before long there's them Asari screaming like Banshees and we have pissed off Krogan flying about the place. And there is only so much space in those shutles.

I wouldn't say it needs to be that high of a level. IIRC, it gets pretty decent around IV or V, once the clip size gets better.

If you're staying at range and/or playing the ACA, CSMG.
If you're in close quarters and/or abusing WarpFire glitch, Hurricane.
Also consider: Talon, Paladin, Valiant, Wraith, Indra, Lancer, Eagle, Arc Pistol, Piranha

The RNG store gave it to me last of all, and mine is stuck at II. V seems high level by comparison.
Hurricane I >>> CSMG I for certain.
