Why on earth does the last court need the character names to double as usernames?

I don't want a character in my canon to be named 'ladyoflate', I want the thing to have an actual name. Which is impossible with this system. The games linked to our origins accounts anyways, why can't we just not have repeat names linked to our origins accounts? Why can't we have actual characters?

I'm not sure what you're talking about. TLC let me name my Huntress anything I wanted. Maybe you have a bug?

Same here. Maybe you can restart the game and try it again?

"Prepare for the Divine" > "Restart Game"

Make sure you finished the tutorial or skip to get the "Prepare for the Divine" Option.

It lets you name your character, but as a username. It treats it as a username (albeit not your Origin username). You can't pick more than one, and have multiple characters.

I don't know why they did it this way. But I translated a random word from English to French, and then used it as a last name to get around that problem.

My character's name is Desireé Matelas. Shove Matelas into Google translate, and you'll see how easy it is. xD

We can choose our name, yes, but if somebody has already used the same word, it pops a message saying that you can't continue and you have to change it.

Tried to make a "Siria" Huntress, but somebody already used it.
It treats the names as in actual browser games.

Really? I'm glad I got my name in early then.

That sounds like a bug. Report it.

Not a bug, I think. I tried to name a LC character "Phillipe" and got the same message. I think they approached it like a typical ftp seudo-game on some levels. They need to go back and make some changes..

I still don't understand. I gave my character a name and it's fine (no surname) names with two words in them work (see the tutorial screens)

I named my character Fernand de Serault (which appears as FERNAND DE SERAULT in-game). What most people seem to forget is that you can use spaces during you naming. Mind you, you should construct your name based on whether you plan to stick with either a single gender character, the male Scholar or the female Huntress, or wish to switch between both.

It's nothing to do with having two words.

It's to do with treating your character name as a unique individual username, instead of just allowing you to use whatever name you wanted in association with your already unique Origin account.

Basically, if you want to call one of your characters Bob, but somebody else has already called a character Bob, then you don't get to.

It would be better if it identified users through their Origin login, and allowed EVERYONE to have a character called Bob if they want.

It's part of the StoryNexus engine due to multiplayer functionality that The Last Court doesn't utilize.

I wasn't allowed to use Jeffrey because somebody else already used it. This isn't SWTOR. Why should I care if the name is used by someone else?

It's based on the engine they used to create it which has multiplayer component not used in the last court
