Location? -She travels in a caravan, but they have a manor house in Orlais.
Mages or Templars? -She doesn't care. As long as they don't attack her, they can have at each other. Plus, a girl can make a killing during a war if she's smart.
Goals? -To make money and make sure the members of her family don't kill each other. Also find herself a hunky guy dwarf to charm and woo her while assassinating her enemies in his spare time.

I'd probably be a sneaky little sticky-palmed street urchin, because in fantasy settings that's more of a viable option for life than it is irl. My teachers always looked at me funny for saying that.
And I'd stay as far away from the Mage/Templar thing as humanly possible. I'm not the kinda person to talk to about politics.
Although I'd probably be a mage sympathizer though. They don't really deserve total oppression. Then again, it's not "total oppression" in most cases. They seem pretty laid-back in Fereldan, at least.

I'd probably be a plump owner of a small saddlery and stables somewhere in the armpit of the Ferelden countryside. Mages and Templars? I don't care so long as they treat my animals right. Fighting? Why fight when I could ride? This is all assuming transporting to Thedas would give me a healthy body, of course. If it didn't I'd probably be dead quite quickly.
