Even though I posted some of my fan art way back in the general fan art thread, I figured it couldn't hurt to give it its own topic, since I've done far more fan art for this game than I have for any other I can recall. Damn you Bioware and your awesome muse-inspiring video games!

Most of my art is Leliana centric, as she's my favorite companion, and because the character who romances her, my male Amell - Legam - is my most-played/favorite Warden. Some images are shrunk on the forums; click on them to see them full-sized.

Without further ado...

Fan Art:
Early drawing of my first Warden, Fasais. He's a Dalish ranger, hence my handle. Drawn before the character creator came out.

Fasais again, refined after I was able to make him in the CC. Liked this one enough that I had it printed 11"x17" and framed to feature in my graduating senior art show at university.

Comic based off a hilarious conversation with Leliana you can follow when she invites you to her tent. I even recorded a video of this happening to Legam in game.

Where I belong. "I'm so happy. Blissful. I haven't slept so well since I was forced to flee from Orlais. Knowing you will be the first thing I see when I wake gives me no small amount of comfort. I feel safe in your arms. Safe, loved and accepted. This where I belong. Thank you." I know lots of players found Leliana's watching the Warden sleep/eyelashes teasing creepy, but I found it sweet/funny. So, this drawing came soon after first romancing her.

Meme using Legam.

My latest Legam/Leliana work. He's got a few things off, but I'm very happy with how she came out. Words are lyrics from Alison Krauss' "When You Say Nothing at All." I think even a chatty bard like Leliana can enjoy the serenity of peaceful quiet. ;)

Fiction: UPDATED 2/28/10
I now have a topic for my 12-chapter m!Amell/Leliana series, Seasons of Love. I might eventually make a topic for various Legam shorts, like the one with Jowan, but for now they'll stay cluttered in this topic.

Art in later posts:

Miscellaneous things of Interest:

+ The correct pronunciation of "Legam"

+ Videos of my fan art drawing process: Flat Colors | Shading | Background

 It was one of my favorite conversations in the whole game, especially the way Leliana delivers the lines. Her in-game expressions are pretty priceless, too.

I really like your art! Something I struggle with but you have down perfectly is a changing facial expression, and just the right touch of exaggeration. Very nice!

Thank you! <3 I take that as a high compliment, as expressions and slight exaggeration are two main things I focus on.

If you have trouble with expressions, you might want to check out this handy resource. Based off of that tutorial (which I didn't make), I created a mini-lesson for a friend on comically exaggerated expressions that you might also find helpful. ^_^

Ah, I adore your Leliana and Legam fanart. I may have mentioned this before when we were comparing characters, but Taiyama was just as without a clue as Legam. He went the "I'm going to write in my journal" route, though, which is equally funny.

Glad you decided to make a topic for these, by the way.

:D I remember from our discussions! It was nice talking to a fellow Leliana fan, especially one who decided to romance her with a male mage. The most popular choice seems to be a Cousland, especially female (which is fine, as I'm not opposed to and can enjoy Leliana f/f, but I just prefer m/f )

I think you did mention that; I've tried that route before too, and while it's also hilarious, I found the "pressed flowers" thread more in-character with Legam and stuck with it.

It was actually noticing you doing a topic for your fiction that reminded me I should do a topic for my stuff. Especially since it's easy for work to get lost in the shuffle of the fan art thread; and also because I don't post all of my fan art on DA, at least not right away. I'm waiting until I finish Seasons of Love to post stuff not directly related to it on DA. That way all the SoL stuff is all together in my gallery. I'm anal like that. :P

There's also one or two pieces of fan art I did that I reserved only for my Maker's Breath LJ community and the Bioware Fangirls LJ comm. As a sort of "special gift" for members, I suppose.

Not fan art, but I figured for posterity/comparison to my artististic interpretation of them, I should include in-game screencaps of the PC versions of Fasais and Legam (I played them both on the Xbox first, but refined them on the PC):

Whoo, Leliana fans unite! *brofist*

Ah, glad that creating my topic reminded you. I can't possibly get on to you for being anal like that considering I'm the same way.

Ah, I'd join the first one of those communities if I had any intention of getting a Livejournal. Guess I'll have to do without D:

Edit: Also, the screenshots are nice. Both of your characters look quite cool.

:D (Does it count as a brofist if I'm a girl? ;))

You should! Joining LJ doesn't obligate you to post, and allows you to see members-only posts. I only use LJ for a few comms, really. But if you really don't want to make an LJ account - which I understand - I can PM you a link to the fan art itself, no special accounts required. :D The main reason I have it members-only is because it's slightly racy and I'm currently job hunting - don't want a potential employer stumbling accross it if they do a check on my regular sites. It's really not that bad, but you know how we Americans get so uptight about sex. Sigh. <_<

Thank you. I had fun creating them. :D Legam's heavily modified in the tooset to remove the gaunt cheeks you're forced to have if you give a man a beard in the regular character creator. I also used it to give him ears that stick further out, since I've always pictured him as having goofy ears.

I don't think it matters if you're a girl at all. I still haven't really romanced Leliana but it's on the to do list.

I've learned over the years that I speak "man" fairly well. I find myself often translating between my fellow females and my male buddies.

Did another work on Legam last night. It's always kinda bugged me that regardless of what people's characters do, they have super cut bodies. I understand the limitations of game engines/graphics, but outside of that, in art and stories where you can control things - EVERYONE'S always super fit. I always figured Legam, being stuck in the Circle most of his life reading and sitting on his arse, would hardly have a cut body, let alone a six pack. He'd actually be slightly pudgy. I don't think my previous drawings of him really did this concept justice, so I took a more focused whack at it. Besides, I needed the practice drawing body fat.

I think he ended being slightly too belly heavy, but it's much closer to what he's supposed to be built like, and I'm quite pleased with the results, especially considering it was a quick 2-hour work.:D

I like that. Not a lot of people have ability to make their characters imperfect or unpeing in some way. I can dig it.

I know; it's rather frustrating sometimes to see or read perfect PCs all the time. Good characters are "human" and thus imperfect - whether physically, mentally, personally or a combination thereof. I admit I'm guilty of drawing fit characters most often, but it's more out of habit than trying to make them perfect. I'm trying to break that habit. =]
