D'aaaw. Well, I'll take that as a compliment on my writing abilities. If you want something to cheer you up, check out the previous chapters there - especially, say... Seven or eight. Plenty of fluff and banter to counterbalance the somber ending.

Yes, you should definitely take it as a compliment for your writing abilities.  Stories that can bring out such emotions are the best.  Omg, I can't even count how many times I bawled like a baby when I read The Calling.

Edit: I don't remember if I mentioned this already, but I started a topic on here for Seasons of Love (I removed the old blogs). I know at least a few of you have read it, but for those who haven't, go check it out! I only posted the first five chapters thus far because I'd rather wait until the topic hits two pages before I post more. Don't want them to get super-long with the scrolling.

Working on two pictures now. Here's the progress of the first - finally getting around to that "family" picture:





My first time drawing (outside of a quick doodle) Dog, Zevran or Schmooples, so... Apologies for any goofs, especially Zev. Will try to refine them as I move into the inking stage.

As for the baby, in case you haven't read Seasons of Love - he's not Legam and Leliana's child. He's a dwarf casteless they found left for dead in the Deep Roads (hence his tattoo) and adopted. They named him after Jowan.

I figured it was a nice counterbalance! Before I continue it though, I have a quick sketch of Aedan from Sisimka's The Hero of Ferelden to doodle, as I said I would do that soon. Better get on it before the muse leaves me.

I am actually very happy with this ending. It really fits the theme of the game.

I would have been very dissapointed if this story had had an extremely sappy ending, complete with rainbows, puppies and butterflies.

While there are quite a few sappy moments between Leliana and Legam throughout his life, I really can't see it ending any other way since he's tainted and all - official Grey Warden or not. And official duties can be a real arse to deal with, so life wasn't always stress free.

But I think they had a happy enough life with the time that they had together. That's what counts, methinks.

Well there is a bunny- something called Schmooples. That's atleast a start.


EDIT: By the way, nice family picture, Dalish Ranger. Though a family consisting of a bisexual assassin, gluttunous canine, a pig/rabbit hybrid called Schmooples, a bard with a supernatural obsession with shoes, a mage with strange personality quirks and a orphan castless dwarf, sounds more like somethings from a sitcom than a dark fantasy game.   But seriously, I really like your fanart.

LOL, that's true and a rather large puppy too (the mabari), so that's pretty close.

Yep especially if the rainbow comes after a nice warm shower of acid rain, the puppies are rabid darkspawn tainted wolves ones and the butterflies are the Chaos Theory ones. Oh and the unicorn just impaled the hero who was walking toward the dying setting sun.

On a more serious note, nice family picture DalishRanger, Schmooples looks actually better than in the game, more like a naked rabbit and  less like a walking lunch.

Well, Legam DOES muse that their family is rather odd in the last SoL chapter. Besides, dwarf aside, I'm only going by the end of the game for Legam - I figure the Mabari would stay with the Warden, Leliana goes off with him, Zevran joins, and I got Schmooples in my mage playthroughs. Blame the game for that potential set up. Also, what's wrong with sitcoms?

I chose a dwarf casteless child because I decided that enough people do Warden spawn in fanfiction, despite the fact conceiving would be incredibly difficult. I don't have a problem with Warden spawn at all, mind you - but I figured I'd take a different route. Besides, I have a special soft spot for adopted children, seeing as my father was one, and he and his father were as close as can be.

The family picture definitely captured your love for the characters in it, fabulous! Especially the addition of the dog and the nug, I can imagine the dog chasing it around the home in search of an easy meal.

And yes, they're WAY better than the originals. And I sort of disagree with the originals not being bad, but I majored in the arts, so I'm going to be pickier about details than most others might be.



@amethyst: Schmooples came out all right for a first attempt. Silly little nug... Thingy...
