I'm going to try and finish the base colors for the last two panels today and start shading, but I have to go to a play this evening, so I might not have time. We'll see.

Legam will take care of that for you. :D But first, I have to fix his robes. Going to try and do that now before I have to leave for the play/dinner at 5:00.

BUT SHE'S MINE!

I!...I meant Taiyama's. Or Legam's. Doesn't matter. Not like I can have a relationship with a fictional character!

Ahahahahaha!...hahaha...hah...

XD *Pat pat*
Legam's robes fixed. That took no time at all... Now I REALLY wish I'd remembered his mage robes properly last night, as I spent forever on the Chasind ones. Sigh.

Dunno how far I'll get on the last two before I head out. Probably not enough to show a progress report. There will be more later tonight after I get back, for sure.

Working on the last panel, so should have a preview of it up tonight. Then I can move on into shading, finally.

Also, a thought occurs to me. Out of curiosity, how do you guys pronounce "Legam" to yourselves when reading it on here?

The "correct" way (at least, as I intended), is "lay-gahm," but I could see it being interpreted at least a few other ways.

Hmm, I always pronounced it Lee-gham. So, it's like "les"? That's sounds better, I think.

Yes, it's like "les."

In Dutch it would probably be either:

A. Leg-gum

B. Lay (as in the word 'okay') Gham (as in the 'bah')

A. is completely off, but B sounds close. It's tempting to just record the pronounciation and post it up, but then I'd 1. Have to find my headset and 2. Subject you all to my voice. :P

On another note, "bah" happen to be my initials.

Always thought of it as Lay-gham but more Lé-gham the french é being a shorter sound than ay.

Because of language/dialect differences in how some people might see "ay" "eh" "gham" and such, perhaps it is best to just record its pronunciation, my nasally voice aside. :P

Also, last two panels are drawn. I don't like the first, as there are so many things wrong with it, but I'm not going to worry about it right now. I'll try to redraw it yet again tomorrow. I'm done attempting it for now. Hugs are awesome to get, but a b*tch to draw.

Well, Legam is all yours (your own, your precioussss!!!!) so don't let a bunch of foreign bugger like Apophis and myself mess up his nameImage IPB.
If you really want to deny us the music of your voice you could post the phonetic spelling of his name.

On an unrelated matter, SHOULDN'T YOU BE IN BED YOUNG LADY!!!  Image IPB

EDIT : By the way I just browsed through all your art again, we've all said it at least twice, but I repeat it again, you really nail facial expressions and emotions, and in your last works it's just spot on.

Ha, I didn't mean because you and Apophis were European it could confuse the pronounciation; how vowels are said vary a lot just within the American eastern coast. I would post the phonetic spelling, but I don't know the "proper" one. I know how it sounds, but I can't remember the phonetics to show it, and I know a lot of people who wouldn't know how to read them when they saw it.

I would just record it now, but... I can't find my headset, or my old microphone. My brother was the last one to use my headset, and he was SUPPOSED to put it back in my room when he was done with them. I'm going to have to chew him out later. This is exactly why I don't like him borrowing my stuff. He loses it most of the time. Ugh.

Should I? Yes. But I can't get to sleep. Not very tired. Especially now that I'm annoyed that my brother displaced my headset. Grrr...

I understood your point, you know I tend to jest too much on this forum :) mea culpa mea maxima culpa.

The right pronouciation of "homemade" name of people and places is a bugger for author, the Tolkien nerd I am knows it troubled the poor man for all his life ( he's sort of an extrem case anyway) So let us know how you intend it and we shall abide, in all Legamy things your word is our law ;)

I am a night owl as well, nicest time of the, erm ..."day" to think, I got more inspiration for music and lyrics at night.

As for your brother, well let me just say that being wake up at ungodly hours by a screaming maniacof a bloody furious woman is a life changing event in a young man's life and maybe he could use such experience to better himself. ;)

Ha! He might be younger than me, but my "little" brother is at least twice as strong as me, a foot taller, and has no qualms about punching me if I wake him up this early. I don't blame him. I'll still bug him later about the headphones because I still need them in general and they weren't cheap, but I found a work-around for now; I have some video capturing equipment, so I was able to rip the audio from that and remove the slight static. Woot!

As for my voice in general... I've actually done podcast interviews before for my webcomic (not DA related), so this wouldn't be the first time the Internets had it up there on record. Just be glad I'm saying one word and not talking. I tend to talk very, very fast to where most people have some trouble keeping up with me. :P

Here be the correct pronunciation of "Legam" folks. Ignore the fact I sound like I'm a bit stuffy. I'm not sick, but my voice always sounds at least slightly nasally when recorded. I guess it's because most of my accent is very "Noo Yorker"-ish and thus I tend to nasalize my words at least a little. :P

Love the last pictures of hugs. Leliana's in for a brighter future (well, except for the whole archdemon thing!)

I always think of Legam's name as 'Leg' 'Gam'. I shall now change my mental voice to 'Lay' 'Gahm'!

LOL, I thought Legam was pronounced like Olwaye said. Lé- gahm.  Ha, that's funny how we all say it so much differently.  And I believe DalishRanger and I are even from the same part of the world.  You mentioned Atlanta before?  That's where I'm from originally, but I live in coastal SC now.

Anyway I love the hug pic. Image IPB That makes up for the torture one. Image IPB

I figured people would pronounce it differently, since it was a made-up name and I never mentioned the pronunciation before.

@amethyst: Well, I'm originally from New York, but I've spent the past eleven years in Georgia; first six or so in metro Atlanta, then four in Savannah, and now back to metro-Atlanta. Some Georgia twang has seeped into my speech, but most of it remains upstate New Yorker. Either way, my accent's pretty light to where most people can't tell where I'm from just from hearing me talk.

There are hints to those who pay attention though - like the fact I use "carriage" instead of "buggy" for a shopping cart, how I pronounce, "soda," ("sewda" like in "sewing") "cat" ("cyat") and other words. I once lapsed into a "yooz guys" which was hilarious to my friends... And odd to me, seeing as neither of my parents ever used "yooz guys." My dad does say "drawer" like "draw" though. Makes me giggle.

I have to go out and run some errands with my dad, so I'll work on redrawing the first hug after I get back. Then, shading time!

My mom is from Chicago and even though I've never even been there I've picked up some of her Chicago pronounciations over the years.  It's funny.  So I sound half-Chicago and half-Southern.  It's a very strange accent. LOL.   I never say buggy.  I just say shopping cart.   And how else do people say "soda".  I prounounce it the same way as you.  I've never heard anyone say it differently.  Though someone came down from a northern state one time and asked me where the "pop machine" was and I had no earthly idea what they were talking about, LOL.

Oh no, we've derailed your thread into an English phonetics thread. Image IPB

It's hard to show in text, but I do pronunce it differently from Southerners. I put a nasalated emphasis on the "so" part. I guess it's sorta like "soowduh" or something?

Eh, it's cool. Thread's derailed before, and I've always brought it back with more art.

No, no... Oghren does have a pretty epic beard/mustache. That said, Masti: No. Sorry, I'm not doing requests right now. If I have an idea that involves Oghren, I'll draw him. If not, then I won't.

Also, just to be sure because despite my signature on here, people still confuse my gender: are you using "hey man" as a general phrase (I do myself), or are you referring to me as a male? Because I'm female.

I have to run out again to drop off a job application. Won't be gone long, and I'll get to redrawing that hug panel once I return.
