By the way, what's the name of the fic with Aedan in it? It sounds interesting from what I've heard, and if you like it enough to do fanart it must be good. I want to check it out when I have some free time.

I thought you had read it? Maybe it was Olwaye... Anyway, Sisi's written a lot for Aedan. The current one's "The Wedding Gift" but the first one was "The Hero of Ferelden"; I strongly recommend you read that one first. It's a great bridging of the gap between the end of Origins and the start of Awakenings. It's long though - maybe around 90K? You can read it on the forums and on FF.net.

On another note, I'm almost mildly surprised no one commented on the fact I used Leliana's very first line in the game for this... Or that no one commented on the line about "sharing." xD

D'oh, I thought it sounded familiar, I could hear her 'saying' it in my head.  Clever.

As for the sharing, I chose to ignore that part.  Aedan doesn't share.  It's winner takes all...

Fun fact: I'm actually extremely paranoid about defense in any characters I create, so Taiyama's pretty much built from the ground up to take melee combatants who break off from the fight to attack Taiyama. I particularly like the Cone of Cold-->Crushing Prison combo to freeze then shatter them. Misdirection Hexes are also a lifesaver in times like that. It turned out that I was wise to build him like that, though--he would very often be attacked because he was doing such a large amount of damage from the back. More than once I imagined Taiyama whining "Why do they always come after MEEEEEEE?!"



Hey, Leliana brings people together, right? Even if it's in the form of competing for her love.



And yeah, I did notice the reference to the line, I was just too busy squeeing to mention it. It's a nice touch, though. The hardening bit is lulzy too. Perhaps one of us SHOULD have hardened her.

The very same thing happens to my mage, Taiyama, only his preferred method is VWB followed by Crushing Prison... it's giggles all the way!  Well, until I end up running in circles around the outside of the combat arena screaming 'someone get this *&^%$ off of me!'

Legam used a similar tactic all the time, except he'd use Stone Fist or another cold spell to shatter them. Especially Ogres. I stuck to almost solely Primal spells, because I am amused by the idea of a softie, nonconfrontational man like Legam excelling at what is almost solely an offensive-based school of magic. And I also imagine Legam saying something similar to Taiyama in combat. XD

XD I had Legam do that a LOT early on, but for roleplay reasons - he's terrified of combat. Later on, I'd just wait until a bunch of foes got close, then freeze them all with Cone of Cold or set a Grease trap in front of him and set it on fire when they got too near.



Funniest thing is, even though he's a squishy mage with only about 11-12 constitution, I got the "I'm Kind of a Big Deal" achievement on both the Xbox and PC with him. I think in all my four playthroughs with him, he's only fallen in combat about... Three times, maybe?
