xD I was wondering if anyone would get that joke. I'm a total Avatard, heh. I own the entire TV series and I can't tell you how many times I've seen it all - especially the finale episodes. Such a fantastic series... Too bad the online fandom is often made of epic fail.

...

*Cough*

Anyway...

They're supposed to be big, but I drew the older one first. It isn't him young, then older. The older one was my first attempt at him, saw he looked older than what I meant, and tried it again with the younger one, which was closer to the mark.

I'M TOTALLY A DOODLE.

Ahaha, sounds like my love of Gurren Lagann. I'd buy all the episodes but I'm totally cheap and I can just watch the whole series online. Fortunately for me, the fandom is pretty cool (I've even met a few people like me who were able to better combat their self-esteem issues after watching the show) if you ignore the whole cult of worshipping Lord Kamina the Great (and I would totally be part of that cult if I wasn't Christian, which you can probably tell by the number of titles I append to Kamina's name). Avatar is a very very awesome show too, though.

Ah, I see. My mistake. I sure hope he gets good hearing out of the larger ears because I'm sure he'll be teased for it. Unless everyone else has ears like that, then someone with ears our size would be weird to them. Reminds me of a show of the Twilight Zone...

I followed Avatar from day 1 - saw it when it first premiered, and became an instant fan. I only buy TV shows when I REALLY love them, and it's worth the money. I think I've rewatched and analyzed Avatar enough times to more than get my money's worth for the DVDs.

Ha, ah... Fan cults. xD I jokingly have belonged to one or two in my day, but only in the cases where they were played for laughs.

Dunno if his ears will stay that big or not, honestly. I think the main reason they're that big now is because I'm so used to drawing Faeri in my comic and they've got huge ears.

I know we're getting mighty off-topic here, but who's your favorite Avatar character? I myself am a huge Sokka fan.

Yeah, it's mostly played for laughs. Though honestly the writers should have foreseen this considering the number of Christianity references in the show. Heck, Kamina's name has the Japanese word for God in it ("Kami"). Among other stuff that I just realized might inadverdently spoil someone so I'm editing it out right now.

Katara, followed closely by Aang. However, I love pretty much everybody, even Azula.

Well, "kami" = god is both an accurate and inaccurate translation. It can also be translated simply as "spirit" because the word dates back thousands of years and originally applied to the Shinto deities, which are very different to the common Western understanding of gods. Kami are nature-based (which by itself isn't uncommon in paganistic religions) and, save for a few major ones like Ameterasu, are locally based and far from invulnerable. There's a reason why Japan has so many shrines, some as simple as a rope tied around a rock to grand structures that undergo regular maintained to keep them standing hundreds of years. They're all dedicated to specific kami, who are often believed to reside in very specific locations (marked by said shrines).

That aside, the Japanese seem to have a fascination with Christianity. Probably because it's not a common religion in Japan, it was banned from the early 1600s to the mid/late 1800s (that which is taboo is often more fascinating), and it's very foreign. Similar to some Westerners finding fixation on Buddhist and Hindu traditions, methinks.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a Japanese history/culture/religion buff. (Understatement, probably. I could likely write a book on what I know about the Sengoku Jidai alone. I read a lot and did historical research for fun in high school. :B)

More on topic... Working on my other fan art I mentioned earlier. Will be finishing it before I go to bed. Hopefully won't be much longer.

Done. I'm not super into Valentine's Day, but I figured with it three days away, why not mark the occasion with this?

Image IPB

Decided to draw them in something other than the typical armor/mage robes. Just some sort of dress/tunic in colors to match their eyes. I also bothered to really draw Leliana's braid for a second time, whoo!

And now, I'm off to bed.

Awww! That's so shhweeeet (sorry, my bad, I forgot to switch off my sugary mod)
Awsome one.
Don't you love Legam when he blushes.Image IPB
The kiss on the nose really is sweet. That's way better than any Valentine's card I ever seen.( Which isn't saying much as they are pretty all awful)

Nothing wrong with sugary mods in proper doses. Just be careful, or your game might get Diabetes. ;)

Legam blushing is fun to do. Usually it's the girl blushing in pictures, so I like changing things up. Not to mention I think it's more in-character for him to be the blushing one, rather than Leliana.

Nose kisses are often neglected, and deserving of some attention. :B That, and in my little written canon, Leliana thinks his nose is cute (I think it's mentioned in Chapter 7 or 8), so I imagine she'd give it some attention once in a while too. ^_^

That's too cute :)

I usually have trouble drawing anything to be honest. When I try to draw faces I mess up the eyes or the nose. Then the hair gives me issues...I swear stick figures are meant for me.

Everyone's good at different things, and even if you have a talent for something, it still takes practice. Faces can still give me trouble at times, and my artwork that's more than a year old often makes me cringe because I can see everything wrong with it. Heck, it only took me overnight to see Legam's neck in the picture was off, and so I fixed/replaced it.

I hear you on that. It's like with writing...to me it sometimes comes easy. With drawing I used to be able to do things easily. I could sketch well then I just stopped and thus lost the ability. So now when I draw I can see everything looks wrong. It's frustrating as hell.

Skills can lapse from lack of practice. In my experience though, if you did it for a long time before stopping, it doesn't take as long to pick it up again if you keep at it.

As for writing, while I'm not bad at it, enjoy it, and I'm sure could've been an English major if I wanted to be, it doesn't come to me as easily as drawing does. I suffer more writer's blocks than I do artist's blocks.

I love Leliana's braid, but I suck at drawing them, so I usually just suggest it like it did here.

... Heh. After reading this little piece of Leliana/Male Cousland fiction yesterday (don't let the T rating fool you; it's borderline M. Good, but definitely racy), the more rambunctious side of my muse was sparked.

However, I'm far too cowardly to write such things myself, so all you guys get are a titillating drawing and some cheesy narration to go with it. This would take place during the "fade the black/scene switch" part of the Mid Autumn chapter in my SoL series.

Drawing is actually fairly tame - nothing "naughty" visible but the implications probably still make it NSFW, hence the preview button.

Ignore Leliana's crappy lower hand. Blah. XP At least the shading came out nice. :B EDIT: Removed her lower hand, as it just bugged me too much. I like it better now. Most scandalous thing in this image? I 'm not showing Leliana's braid side, and her ear is exposed! My goodness! D:

His hands trembled in her gentle grasp as the bard led him inside his tent. The flap closed, only a small crack of light from the campfire illuminating the interior of his lodgings. Legam felt his heart race inside his chest, so fast he feared the organ might spring out of his ribcage at any given moment. The mage tried to calm his blood, his breathing, but nervousness continued to plague him.

Sensing his tension, Leliana pivoted on her heel, facing the nerve-wracked Rivaini. Even in the dim light, the bard could see the traces of a blush on his dark cheeks. By the Maker, even if she couldn’t see his flushing, the heat radiating from his face gave his embarrassment away! She smiled reassuringly, bringing her hand up to his cheek, her thumb brushing against his skin.

“It’s all right,” she promised, coaxing his face closer to hers, “Relax, you’ll be fine.”

“S-sorry,” he mumbled, his heart pounding in his ears. “I just know I… I’m going to b-bumble somewhere and –”

Leliana’s soft lips grazed his own, cutting off his babbling. She moved away a moment later, suppressing a giggle at Legam’s stupefied expression. She leaned her forehead against his, smiling sweetly. “ – And even if you do, it won’t make me care less for you,” she promised, kissing his cheek.

Aaaannd I'm cutting it off there. Enjoy, guys. xD

Ha ha, thanks... But, to be technical, I don't use a pencil. Except for the SoL series pics and Where I Belong, all my DA fan arts have been completely digital - drawing in Photoshop, inked in Flash, and either colored in Flash or in Photoshop.

Yup, I do! :D After our conversation on there, I looked back and noticed you had already posted twice on here before. Had to smack my face for forgetting! So... Welcome again! :D

I did mean you were good with words and drawing, whichever tools you use. (I know you probably get the idea, else I shall flogg myself with fresh nettle leaves Image IPB for not being clear enoughImage IPB, sorry us french people are a perverted breedImage IPB)
Seriously now, part of what make all your Legam/ Leliana codex so good is that you can believe in the love story, it feels natural as oppose to all the FF stories where the main purpose is to get Alistair in the bed of a fem Cousland with maximum pathos and fairytale tricks.

I knew what you meant, I was just being specific/a smart ass. You know us Americans. ;)

I have to agree, though it's not just Dragon Age fanfiction that suffers from it - and there are Alistair fanfics that are well done/believable... They're just half-buried under all the other stuff. XD

See, for me - I have no problem showing the sensuality/sex side of a relationship, and I have no problem with bawdy humor. But, I think most of the strongest relationships are friends-first. Not necessarily friends-turned-lovers (though that is the case with Leliana and Legam), but lovers who are also friends and can simply enjoy each other's company/doing normal things together.

And in my experience, no matter how good the lust side of love can be, the happiest couples are those who genuinely care about the other person for who they are - faults and all, and not just for their sexual aspects. And they don't always get along. My parents have been married for 25 years - happily so - but I still see them bicker and disagree on a regular basis, yet I also see much that shows after all this time, they care a lot about each other. They're not openly sappy, but they do plenty of things for each other in little ways: like my father visiting my mother while she was in the hostipal recently (knee surgery) every night after work, and would stay for several hours to watch TV with her, just so she had the company. Heck, I'll go ahead and say it: They may both be past their mid-50s and my parents, but they're downright adorable in their own way. I'd ship them if they were fictional characters.

I guess in some ways my parents are a bit of an influence in how I tend to view good (in my opinion) romances. Er... Minus the sensual/sex side. I try not to think about that regarding them.
