Please accept my apologies. As a parisian myself, and a profesional of the catering industry, it always bugs me when my fellow citizen treat tourist like s**t, I always enjoyed having american in Paris and showing tem around, taking them out of the tourist traps. As I use to say to my friends when I was leaving in England, France is a lovely
country, shame there's so much french people in there../../../images/forum/emoticons/devil.png.
[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie] Aw, thank you. But as I said, I don't let the actions of a few jackasses shape my view of an entire nation. I mean, I love America, but we're far from perfect - I've seen my fellow countrymen behave in ways that embarrasses me terribly to share a nationality with them.
And there WERE some nice people there, our group just ran into more of the troublemakers.
@Evolvana: Bit late for that advice, as my visit to Paris was... Uh... About nine years ago.

And it was part of a group trip to several European countries. I would've LOVED to see the smaller cities/countryside, but alas, we didn't have the time.

Still, there were some nice sights to see in Paris, and it wasn't all bad. It was having weird orange gunk thrown at us our first night there, the horridly maintained hotel, the near mugging at the Eiffel Tower and a few other things that sucked.
Yet one of my most treasured possessions was also acquired in Paris: a caricature drawn of me by one of the most pleasant and jolly old men I've ever encountered, in any country.
Besides, while most of my background is Irish and English, part of my ancestry traces back to France. If I hated the French on principle, wouldn't I be hating part of myself?
